Thanks for the questions Colin! Now let's talk about the real important stuff... SIMON BELMONT IN SMASH! Almost a week later and I'm still hyped on that. - Deadite
Chris Sculion won’t talk to because of “political differences”.... What is happening to this country? We’re supposed to be unified in spite of our differences, if we can’t talk to each other, we can’t accomplish anything.
I don't really see the issue. While I wouldn't respond the way Sculion did (probably), I certainly wouldn't agree to contribute to, say, Sacred Symbols (due to the nature of Colin's co-host's UA-cam channel) if I were asked.
You’re such a class act, Colin. I love how even in a situation like this you don’t pass down judgement on anyone, but still remain civil and wish them the best. You’re the best, Colin. 💙
How is this a surprise to anyone? Leftists are elitist pricks who know they are smarter than those who dare hold anything resembling conservative ideals. Clear sign of delusion and mental immaturity.
What i found the most amazing in this video was that Scullion wouldn't talk to you about his work being plagiarized because you don't agree politically. How closed minded can someone be? "I literally only want to talk to people who have the same exact thoughts and beliefs as me so that even if I somehow manage to be wrong about something I can never learn about it." So foolish.
It's simple: he's a bigot. If he wont talk to a middle of the road Conservative(who didn't vote, nor likes Trump), he's just a bigot. And the funny thing is, he's from Scotland. So what the fuck does Colin's views on American politics have to do with anything? Hell, what does Colin's political views have to do with this particular subject on plagiarism in videogames? Again, the guy is bigot, plain and simple.
He wont collab for the reason he doesn't want Colins audience to interact with him, but will let Colin say he declined and posts his own twitter in the comment section of the very video he declined to be apart of... the dude clearly wants his colleagues affection. "see! i didn't want nothin to do with Colin's audience! I'm on your side fellow game journalists!" xD
Pride can be a weakness and it def is here. Colin with his political differences was one of the only people offering an olive branch to a guy too proud to admit to anything. Wish him the best of luck in the future.
Rob and Colin. Two men that have never shared the same room. Interesting. Invite THAT UA-camr onto Fireside chats. Rob deserves to meet his doppelgänger.
It's not a great video at all. Rather, it's very disappointing that one of youtube's best voices chose to join this massive shaming that's going on around this to cash on a few bucks. The guy got fired, that's justice served and where decent people should have let the story end. There was never any need to regurgitate it so many times, especially not by youtubers who take themselves seriously, like Colin. He added nothing new to that discussion. It was just his version of the same video that's popping out all over youtube because people either enjoy seeing others fall (let's say these are few), or just can't resist the easy money that a discussion about a popular topic will bring them, even if it means adding coal to a fire that makes someone pay much beyond what he deserves. I for once am very disappointed to see that Colin joined the latter.
As I wrote to Colin in another comment, the fact that he has a personal take on this only means he should've been more compassionate. He knows better than most people how the industry works, so he knows this guy's career is already ruined. There's no need for Colin to "save the industry" by further speaking out about this. The fact he worked at IGN added nothing to his opinion that we haven't already heard on any other video about this. And on top of all, even if it's more personal to him, a decent person would have said "this guy payed and suffered way-way-way-more than enough". I guess Colin doesn't really care about such things. I am only writing this because I have a huge appreciation for Colin, much more than to most youtubers. So to see that he joins this extremely unnecessary, toxic youtube culture - that's disappointing to me. I'm probably in a minority here (as most people enjoy the fire), but that's my opinion.
What a class act. The guy gets cast out from his former colleagues from IGN for a joke while working at KindaFunny. Yet here he is still in their corner defending them. Just goes to show how much a rare breed Colin is for modern journalism these days when you have people like him are just after the story and want the answers and information. Yet, here you have other journalist like Chris Sculion that refuses to make a comment over a separate issue that doesn't relate to the story at all.
So because you're conservative, people refuse to talk to you about their work being stolen? its really pompous and pathetic. And I saw the snide by Danny o Dwyer on twitter.
Thank you for this - I have been eagerly awaiting your perspective on this issue all week! Means a lot as a fan that you put time into this even though admittedly it wasn’t your first choice of topics this week - much respect!
Colin, I’ve always respected you as a “Mr. Integrity” type, which I love, so I definitely wanted your take on all this. Glad to have it. Now one can see why the world so desperately needs people of integrity.
Glad you decided to make this video Colin. It's a shame that this situation happened. Plagiarism is so wrong and it sucks that it took a while for this guy to be caught but it's a good thing that action was taken.
A solid piece on a truly regrettable situation. Thanks for the many follow-ups and even interactions with various people involved in the story (Even those that refused a simple conversation).
Colin, this video is fantastic. I rarely see legitimate journalism like this even OUTSIDE of the video game world. Seriously appreciate your hard work!! Further, hopefully this situation dissuades other would-be plagiarizers from pulling some similar crap.
Good Stuff man!! Your work is excellent, and as you stated, we always get inspired by what we read and hear from our favorite writers and your one of them. Stay cool dude.
He didn't want to talk to you about a totally unrelated topic because of political differences with you? I feel that mentality is not only ridiculous, it's damaging, and a big part of the reason this nation is currently so divided.
MisteMiner Aye, either your with us or against us. What I find so damning is the idea that truth doesn't matter when dealing with opposition. The whole idea of removing something/someones "platform" is such a harmful way of division. How can people ever learn if their is no conversation happening? People will just double down on what's available to them.
Side Note: I caught dude's response, the idea that you can't/shouldn't speak to someone because their thoughts differ from yours is foriegn to me. Are you really so insecure in your positions that you can't speak to anyone who won't echo your political beliefs back to you verbatim? This oozes mental frailty.
That part about the NintendoLife guy not wanting to talk to you because you hold a different opinion than him on an unrelated topic is, madness. Communication is a vital human component, and we're losing that ability everyday.
Okay, hold on… Games journalism is so aggressively left wing, that one journalist would refuse to talk to another based on unrelated political beliefs? Mr. Scullion is certainly entitled to speak with, or not speak with, whomever he likes, but the fact that he would elect no to seems incredibly strange to me.
It's a weird mentality. Recently where I live there was this big accident (nothing to do with politics) and a civilian got a bunch of it on video. She posted it to social media and said everyone could use it...except Fox News. And when Fox asked her about it she told them to...let's just say it wasn't polite. I don't like Fox News either but I'm sitting here going " You are just being petty and you damn well know it."
With the NY Times encouraging curtailment of 1A, and CNN’s endorsement Antifa it seems like “I can’t even talk to you” is more more comin in left-wing ideology than it is on right but I’d certainly be willing to hear your counter argument. If YT isn’t the ideal forum, feel free to send me an email. Johnjmaheriii@gmail.com
Excellent video. It also makes me wish Totalbiscuit were still around. What I wouldn't give for a video of his " I will now talk about Filip for x minutes"
“I reached out to Chris for more questions on the situation but he declined citing political differences with me” - Wait, what? Essentially since you vote for people with red ties on instead of blue ties he can’t possibly talk to you about plagiarism?? Is there any proof people have that games journalists DON’T act like 12 year olds?
Colin. It’s nice to finally have somebody likeminded back into video game journalism. I am a conservative, constitutionalist, gamer. When you left to start CLS. I thought the worst for people like me that needed your views and opinions about games. Glad your back at it dude. Thanks
Another excellent episode colin, great work. I sincerely hope you make an episode on emulation's value as well, your input would be very valuable on that topic
Think moving to gaming news is a good move for you Colin! Always thought it was your strength. You bring a level of analysis most people don't have the intelligence for such as Jim Pettys
I am not all that convinced that the internet would have forgave him even if he admitted to his wrongdoing. The internet has never really been a place where people let stuff go, ever. As for the apology itself, I agree that it was extremely vapid and devoid of any real substance. He definitely didn't outright apologize, which was foolish. I can't tell if hes just refusing to admit that he did something wrong or if he doesn't actually believe he did anything wrong. Hard to tell. Either way I agree with what you said, the man is out of his depth. Which is really sad and kind of pathetic, rofl.
Wow finally someone who talks about the whole "I always research when I do a review" statement. That was for me the most baffling part of his "Apologise" video and I got annoyed that no one was talking about it. It's also funny how games media will not ask him questions because they "will not give a liar a platform" but non of the sites had any problem writing articles about his video...
"He declined citing political differences with me"-- Honestly, Scullion is so unprofessional. Politics have nothing to do with the Miucin scandal. It is okay to have different tastes, in politics or whatever it may be.
Thanks for your thoughts Colin. I'm a little bit sad because I actually enjoyed Filips content pre-IGN and I was so stoked for him when I heard he got a job at IGN. Doesn't seem like anyone wins in this situation. You are also right about the long lasting effects for IGN now. There isn't a video on UA-cam without the top comments asking if this was also plagiarized.
Cool vid. Excellent research and report. Although this sucks for Filip, it's beautiful for me as an English teacher. I can now showcase this as an example of plagiarism in the "real world". Keep doing what you do, Colin!
Thanks for the questions Colin! Now let's talk about the real important stuff... SIMON BELMONT IN SMASH! Almost a week later and I'm still hyped on that. - Deadite
Boomstick Gaming the folks on Reset are going to go nuts because you're willing to talk to Colin. Some of those folks on that forum need help.
dark samus.....
My question to you is; how were you able to post a review, while everyone else had to wait for the embargo?
Wasn't it the early access version like Colin just said?
Richter is best boy!
Chris Sculion won’t talk to because of “political differences”.... What is happening to this country? We’re supposed to be unified in spite of our differences, if we can’t talk to each other, we can’t accomplish anything.
simplemanrobertson I have friends that have political differences than me, it’s so crazy that people are are that intolerant these days.
Nintendo life is a brittish website. He could be brittish - don't know though.
Scullion isn't even American. He is a Scotsman.
From what I understand, he wasn't so much wary of Colin himself as he was being associated with some of the more militant members of Colin's audience.
I don't really see the issue. While I wouldn't respond the way Sculion did (probably), I certainly wouldn't agree to contribute to, say, Sacred Symbols (due to the nature of Colin's co-host's UA-cam channel) if I were asked.
When writing ANYTHING, forming your own, thoughtful approach and having your own voice is EVERYTHING.
You’re such a class act, Colin. I love how even in a situation like this you don’t pass down judgement on anyone, but still remain civil and wish them the best. You’re the best, Colin. 💙
What? This video contained many judgements of plagiarism guy throughout. They may have been backed by evidence but they were there.
“Refused to comment citing political differences”.... ok ....
King United I would be happy to comment for your piece and get some traffic for my site, but could you please register as a Democrat first?
How is this a surprise to anyone? Leftists are elitist pricks who know they are smarter than those who dare hold anything resembling conservative ideals. Clear sign of delusion and mental immaturity.
King United
As pathetic as citing console preference
What i found the most amazing in this video was that Scullion wouldn't talk to you about his work being plagiarized because you don't agree politically. How closed minded can someone be? "I literally only want to talk to people who have the same exact thoughts and beliefs as me so that even if I somehow manage to be wrong about something I can never learn about it." So foolish.
These people spend too much time online and are completely disconnected with what matters.
Right?! Holy crap, I can't believe that was his legitimate response...how childish.
It's simple: he's a bigot. If he wont talk to a middle of the road Conservative(who didn't vote, nor likes Trump), he's just a bigot. And the funny thing is, he's from Scotland. So what the fuck does Colin's views on American politics have to do with anything? Hell, what does Colin's political views have to do with this particular subject on plagiarism in videogames? jamesmmu you got that spot on mate, people who spend their life online end up twisted in the head!
Scullion refused to talk to you because of political differences? What a child.
A bigot.
Pussy
"Political differences" jesus look what we've become
Pride can be a weakness and it def is here. Colin with his political differences was one of the only people offering an olive branch to a guy too proud to admit to anything. Wish him the best of luck in the future.
I blame social media.
CLS: your number one source of actual gaming journalism.
Declining citing political differences is horrendously immature and partisan.
Why is games media full of such tribalist sods.....
Tribalist sod is fantastic. Lol.
The fact that Colin got heat for trying to get full information from Filp really pissed me off
Lamont Pierce Same, idk what's wrong with people. Isn't journalism essentially about seeking for the truth and report on it?
Francois Millard games journalism has become so lazy and laughable that genuine hardworking journalism seems foreign to some of these people.
I waned the truth. But people was running from it smfh
Madberty Truth!
Yeah Danny O'Dwyer really is a douche bag apparently.
How many others came back to watch this because of the Sacred Symbols+ Interview that dropped today?
" I reached out to Mr. Scullion to talk further about the situation, but he declined. Citing political differences with me."
*facepalm*
lol, I almost got a concussion I facepalmed so hard when hearing that
This is a great video. Excellently done and very well said, Colin. Thanks for speaking out.
Agreed, great video :)
Rob and Colin.
Two men that have never shared the same room. Interesting.
Invite THAT UA-camr onto Fireside chats.

Obviously.
So Chris wouldn't talk to you because of political views? That's ridiculously silly.
There are people out there whose entire identity is their political view. Its ridiculously silly.
What a class act. The guy gets cast out from his former colleagues from IGN for a joke while working at KindaFunny. Yet here he is still in their corner defending them. You've been killing it for a while now, but you're on fire with your work lately. Nice work!
So because you're conservative, people refuse to talk to you about their work being stolen? its really pompous and pathetic. And I saw the snide by Danny o Dwyer on twitter.
I remember when Danny and Colin were on the same podcast in the past it felt like he didn't like Colin at all.
Mr Flibble! your picture made me so happy.
O Dwyer can go ahead fuck off
Danny O'Dwyer is the most pathetically bland and uninteresting dickweed in games media. Just a total tool.
What did Danny say this time?
As always, I find your content to be incredibly balanced and well thought out. What an unfortunate situation this all is.
Thank you for this - I have been eagerly awaiting your perspective on this issue all week! Means a lot as a fan that you put time into this even though admittedly it wasn’t your first choice of topics this week - much respect!

A solid piece on a truly regrettable situation. Thanks for the many follow-ups and even interactions with various people involved in the story (Even those that refused a simple conversation).
Colin, your writing is so damn good. Always so refreshing to have real writing talent covering this stuff.
Real quick Colin this channel has come a long way. I’m glad you were able to find your groove
It’s nice to still hear you speak well of your time at ign, it was a good time for the readers and viewers too!
Perfectly said! Great video Colin
Ericutz4thewin didn't expect to see you here
Great video Colin, love how you are open to discuss and talk about everything.
Fantastic job Colin. Insightful and well thought commentary as usual.
Been waiting to hear your thoughts on this. Love your work Colin
Thanks for this Colin! Very informative. I’ve been fascinated with this story.
I'd say that Chris Scullion's response, for not talking to Colin, is a far bigger problem than plagiarism.
Good job, Colin!
Nice work, Colin. On point as always. 👍
Colin, this video is fantastic. I rarely see legitimate journalism like this even OUTSIDE of the video game world. Seriously appreciate your hard work!!
Further, hopefully this situation dissuades other would-be plagiarizers from pulling some similar crap.
Been waiting for your thoughts on this
This is the kind of shit I've been missing from Colin. Good work, sir.
Good Stuff man!! Your work is excellent, and as you stated, we always get inspired by what we read and hear from our favorite writers and your one of them. Stay cool dude.
I love your take on this situation, Colin. And I absolutely agree with you . Excellent video.
When “fake it till you make it” goes terribly wrong.
WOW! Real investigative games journalism from an ACTUAL games journalist. Rare.
Great video colin. This was a touchdown
Haven't listened yet, but can't wait to hear your take. You're literally one of the maybe 3 people that I'm interested in their opinion.
Colin, I’m so glad your back to writing about games. As a liberal I can only say- This industry NEEDS you.. thank you for yet another great video.
Dudeee! you nailed it, can't get enought of your thoughts in the industry, why you left for so long?! I trully missed you!
He didn't want to talk to you about a totally unrelated topic because of political differences with you? I feel that mentality is not only ridiculous, it's damaging, and a big part of the reason this nation is currently so divided.

People will just double down on what's available to them.
People like to live in echo chambers where no one ever challenges their ideas.
Great breakdown of what happened. Colin is most qualified to provide this analysis.
Awesome. Thanks for this point of view Colin. Brilliant as always.

I don't like Fox News either but I'm sitting here going " You are just being petty and you damn well know it."
@alien, I don’t know all the ins and outs. It could be that he would be less employable if he speaks with Collen.
I mean, Libs in general are very intolerant and its always been that way.
Jack Maher - Don't blame it on "left wing". There are plenty of right wingers who do the exact same thing. You seem to be a part of the porblem.
I bloody love you Colin. Greetings from the UK 💜🎮🕹
I'm glad to see you posted something on this. If you are a good reporter you'll give all sides a chance to respond.
Excellent video. It also makes me wish Totalbiscuit were still around. What I wouldn't give for a video of his " I will now talk about Filip for x minutes"
Masterfully written video, Colin.
Well put and a great perspective!
Thanks Colin. You mirrored my sentiments exactly.
You're awesome, Colin. Keep up the awesome work on your channels.
👍
Even your add for Sacred Symbols gets me excited dude
“I reached out to Chris for more questions on the situation but he declined citing political differences with me” - Wait, what? Essentially since you vote for people with red ties on instead of blue ties he can’t possibly talk to you about plagiarism?? Is there any proof people have that games journalists DON’T act like 12 year olds?
YES. so glad to get to hear your thoughts on this!!
Exceptional video, well thought out an every point was fair and well made. Well done Colin.
Colin, you’re a god damned beast at reporting video game news!
Refusing to sit down and talk with somebody based on political differences is just insane. Especially since it's not a political subject.
Colin. It’s nice to finally have somebody likeminded back into video game journalism. I am a conservative, constitutionalist, gamer. When you left to start CLS. I thought the worst for people like me that needed your views and opinions about games. Glad your back at it dude. Thanks
Old Colin is back and I'm glad to hear it
Well done Colin. Very informative and insightful. Thank you.
I’m glad you made a video about this, I really wanted to hear your opinion!
Good work done here Colin.
Sacred Symbols is everything we needed!
Thanks Colin, great insight as usual-especially having worked there for many years.
You've been on fire lately Colin
Great video, Colin.
I'm sorry I laughed at "Mr. Butts".
Thank you Colin.
When I get enough money for myself I’ll start supporting! Would love to be part of the journey wish I could have been in the start
good job Colin!
I love how you talk man! Cant wait to hear your PS podcast!
Also, i love the pic of the kitty with a makeshift crown on its head you used! Noice!
Great piece Colin
Your videos are always well thought out. :)
lost so much respect for Danny O'Dwyer when I saw his tweet. Also, the political differences excuse from Scullion is ridiculous.
Love it. Thanks for your input Colin. Great video.
Great video Colin. Keep up the good work.

It's also funny how games media will not ask him questions because they "will not give a liar a platform" but non of the sites had any problem writing articles about his video...
Great commentary Colin!
“Citing political differences” classic, great video
Well spoken, it is an unfortunate situation but a learning experience for all.
I really enjoy all your content Colin, I’ve followed you for a long time and I hope you continue to produce so great work. Thanks
Let’s all remember that when you plagiarize in school, you ass is expelled.
Well said Colin!!!
"He declined citing political differences with me"-- Honestly, Scullion is so unprofessional. Politics have nothing to do with the Miucin scandal. It is okay to have different tastes, in politics or whatever it may be.
Colin, i love your content, bud. I need that PlayStation podcast in video format before i start forking over cash though.
Colin as usual it pure brillaince when you say break it down to the facts
Not talking to someone about video game journalism due "political differences" is the real story in this video.
Right on Colin!
Cool vid. Excellent research and report. Although this sucks for Filip, it's beautiful for me as an English teacher. I can now showcase this as an example of plagiarism in the "real world". Keep doing what you do, Colin!
