I have listened to classic rock for the last ten years of my life. It has taken until now to enjoy Lou Reed. though now when i have the choice to listen to Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep, Bob Seger, The Who, ect.. I always choose Lou. I can't describe my love for his music, many think I'm strange, but to me he is the best.
Here comes the ocean and the waves down by the sea Here comes the ocean and the waves where have they been Don't swim tonight my love, the sea is mad my love it's known to drive men crazy Malcolm has burned at sea, the castle it sits and reeks the madness can make you hazy But here come the waves down by the shore Washing the rocks that have been here centuries or more Down by the sea Here come the ocean and the waves down by the sea Here comes the ocean and the waves where have they been Castles glowing at night, towers above out fright warlocks decapitating Malcolm he lives on hate, serve your brain on a plate feasts on your mouth for dinner But here come the waves down by the sea Washing the eyes of the men who have died Down by the sea Here come the waves (x4)
Despite all the bad things that some critics and some 'music' people this is actually a very good album and deserves it place in the anals of rock and roll...
I agree 100%...honestly, as far as first solo studio albums go, this is nothing short of amazing:) Transformer, Berlin and Coney Island Baby are fantastic albums as well.
Up until MMM, which was a joke, the early half of the 70s belongs to Lou as far as I'm concerned. Try listening to all the records from Loaded to Sally Can't Dance; there isn't one mediocre tune there, let alone a bad one.
This version is the one most folks first heard, but my favorite is still the Velvets original, which wasn't officially released until the "VU" LP released in 1985. Nothing short of majestic!
considering the VU version is likely an outtake, and when you have rick wakeman in the studio, you're gonna have extra motivation whether you want to or not, cause this was at a time when YES exploded and music at that time was just go go go
An absolute masterpiece, soulful, spiritual, deep song from a very inspired and inspirational genius as Lou has been..Miss him so much
I like the Velvet Underground version better.

Lou is the man
you're not alone
Either Lou or Iggy i'm good
have you heard the cover by Rowland S. Howard?
lou gets it.
It's crazy the diversity of Lou Reed inspiration, maybe the best one for that.

One big reason why I chose to learn the guitar...classic.
I love Lou Reed From the first Velvet Underground album (have 21 V.U. CD’s) to this solo Lou Reed album (have over 50 Lou Reed CD’s) .
Despite all the bad things that some critics and some 'music' people this is actually a very good album and deserves it place in the anals of rock and roll...

Hiep hiep hoera voor Lou Reed.
Great song, great band, love his music. One of the greatest songs
Here it's a Lou Reed solo version, haunting and soulful. On "Lou Reed" brilliant album
makes me cry everytime.
Beautiful song 👍🏻💙😎
Lou the poet.
Yes, the poet musician.
I love every version of this song! What a masterpiece!

I first heard the VU "I Can't Stand It" before I forget who at small NYC rock club in 85. Sounded absolutely contemporary then, I thought. Still is.
im agree. the version from the vu lp with the scale is one of my fav. vu songs
I love the live version from the "1969" album.
Rowland S Howard did an amazing cover of it too.

Yes. One of my favorite songs.
Which is so AMAZING.
Fine, fine song.
A great thing
Steve Howe of Yes on guitar
rick wakeman on keyboards
riversidepete 61 you had me going
Actually why not? I don't know why some of those idiotic rock critic types think this is such a peculilar anecdote
Wow, Lou is really singing here (by his standards). On the VU version, he doesn't even try.
i think is just different. In Rock'n'Roll Animal is voice tone is similar, but some people say that he doesn't know how to sing
