Speaking as a brass band percussionist who's played this countless times (it's pretty much part of the "from-memory" concert repertoire for all bands from 4th section up to Championship), this is a really great rendition. The trick (at this point) with the Brass Cats is not to just play the notes ("Oh good, Jums is in the programme - time for a snooze!") but to actually give it life and character. Yes, any colliery band can rattle off Mr Jums at the drop of a hat, but the top sections give it a remarkable life of its own. It's like a comfort blanket. Particularly for ex-brass-percussionists sat at home in a pandemic. Bravo, guys.
