(Vader Voice) NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! But the more articulate response: There was one prequel where they hired lookalikes to play the main characters but low-key tried to mislead people in the marketing. I didn't see the sequel, but most of those who saw the movie that I talked with disliked it.
If you're interested in seeing more Jeff Daniels, Terms of Endearment is a must-watch (warning: it's a tearjerker). He was also pretty good in the TV movie Gettysburg (the film takes liberty with some of the history, and is a touch Lost-Causey, but the movie has top-tier acting from a lot of top-tier actors).

Honestly... No. The prequel (Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd) wasn't very good. And the sequel (Dumb & Dumber To) is better than the prequel but not as good as this movie.

The guy that played the baddy, Charles Rocket, lived half a mile from where I grew up. In junior high I was close friends with his younger brother. I visited the house one time, and it scared the s**t out of me. My friend claimed the house was haunted, and said the family would hear footsteps in the attic and doors closing on their own.
My friend also claimed that the family were descendants of Abraham Lincoln. My friend had a portrait of Abraham Lincoln in his bedroom, and the eyes would follow you as you walked. That was enough to convince me that something was deeply wrong with the house, and I never visited again. One and done.
I remember being introduced to one of his older brothers; I'm pretty sure it was Charles.
What a shame that Hollywood chewed him up and spat him out.

Not sure if anyone already told you... But yes.. Jim Carey chipped his tooth when he was younger and he had it fixed. So Jim Carey had the Idea that it would be funnier if he had his chipped tooth again for this role.. so he had that piece removed just for the movie and re-fixed it after filming. So yeah.. real chipped tooth.. and he was right.. Made it that much funnier! lol

  • @wanderingidle4848

The best thing about this movie is Jeff Daniels. Jim Carrey had blown up at this point, but this was his first feature film where he shares the spotlight with someone else, and Jeff Daniels (who wasn’t know for comedy) keeps up with him the entire time, and never plays second fiddle. That said, the Big Gulp line was always my favorite, and from what I remember, it was completely improvised by Carrey.
The Truman Show was Jim Carrey’s break-out drama role, and kind of blew a lot of peoples’ minds, both with its story, and Carrey’s performance. Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind is also worth a watch. I’m a little biased on that one, because I absolutely adore Kate Winslet, and think she and Jim Carrey had great chemistry, though it’s not really held in as high of a regard as The Truman Show these days.
Since I brought up Kate Winslet, I’d recommend The Reader, Little Children, Iris, and Heavenly Creatures. The last of which came out the same year as Dumb and Dumber (1994 was an amazing year; we’re lucky to have grown up when we did), and was Peter Jackson’s first real foray into drama, after doing low budget body horror up until that point (and going on to do the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Get Back).
This is completely random, but “The Reader” reminded me of “The Believer”, from 2001. It’s one of Ryan Gosling’s first dramatic roles, in which he plays a Jewish neo-nazi (based on a true story). It’s probably a little too heavy and political to watch on your channel, but I think it’s one of the best films ever made about modern antisemitism and Jewish identity.
Oh yeah, and the best film of the aughts (just my opinion - but I’m correct in this instance) is Lost in Translation. You need to watch Lost in Translation.

The Farrelly Brothers (Peter and Bobby) are also well known for their next three comedy films "Kingpin" (1996), a cult classic sports comedy starring Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray, Randy Quaid and Lin Shaye from the Insidious franchise, "There's Something About Mary" (1998), a well known romantic comedy classic starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller, Matt Dillon and Lin Shaye again, and "Shallow Hal" (2001), a pretty good but controversial gross out comedy starring Jack Black, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jason Alexander and Laura Kightlinger. Peter Farrelly would go on to direct "Green Book" (2018), which actually won Best Picture at the Academy Awards that year!

There's a ton of great Farrelly Bros movies. This one is by far their dumbest, though we do love it. Most of their stuff is just as funny but with more heart. You almost have to ignore descriptions though, because their movies sound like they'll be awful and mean spirited, but they absolutely are not. Most are really heartfelt, but still hilarious. My favorites are the Ringer with Johnny Knoxville and Katherine Heigl,, and Stuck on You with Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear.
