Crewing on a Race Sailboat and Seeing Nothing but Double Vision

  • This was the sixth race from the Bluffers Park Basin spring race series held June 14, 2023. Ross Eddie and crew got Seascape off to a good start but were constantly made to stare at Double Vision's stern as they rounded marker after marker. In the end Seascape came in with a solid second place corrected time of 58:56. Michael Forster on Double Vision took first place with a corrected time of 58:10.
    Both Seascape and Double Vision are C&C 27 Mark 5 sailboats.

    If they had tensioned the backstay going upwind, I suspect it would have helped. You could see the problem in the luff of the big jib.

    Love how Ross and Mike show age is no barrier to great racing…keep it up! So exciting!

    2:10 jib halyard is very soft. Shouldn't have those wrinkles in the luff.

      @@TheJoysofBoatOwnership 1485 Battle of Bosworth, Harri Twdur defeats Richard III and becomes Henry VII. Born in Wales and descended from the princes of Wales on both sides. 🙂
