    People dont realize, when you adopt a pup and take them into yr home, they are going from a cage/ kennel into a home environment. Training is key. God Bless you all for doing the traini g🥰

    This just shows you how difficult it is for a rescue used to shelter life to adapt to living in a home environment and where the new owners don't give the dogs or cats enough time to decompress and learn the boundaries of living in a home..thats why there are sooo many returns saying they didn't 'fit in'..

    They can train her right there but the new owner needs to continue to discipline, show leadership and guidance in the new home otherwise she’ll make her own rules in a new space. She’s young and this was her first training lesson, she actually did really good once in the crate. She looks like a smart pup and will learn quickly! Best of luck in your new home smiley!

      So true, I hate when people think their dogs out of control for no reason. Like even my dog if he is doing something I don’t like I think to myself what am I doing wrong and I do research to help fix it.

    Some rescue dogs who get adopted have no experience at living in a house with people.
    I do think we need to start from scratch exactly as we would with a new puppy. No expectations, a lot of guidance, treats and patience and of course a lot of love❣️ Crates can be used for some dogs, but certainly not for All. To get the dog more focused and less stressed having the dog search for his food or a favourite toy is stimulating - as long as it's not a squeaky toy or a ball that you throw. So lots of solutions to a dog's natural behaviour to a brand new situation.
    This new situation is a happy thing for the rescuers, but for the dog it may be very different at first when everything and everybody is completely unknown to him. Some dogs run on pure adrenaline, as some of us do, when we find ourselves in brand new situations.
    When the new family member starts to settle in, he'll blossom like a beautiful flower and that is incredible to experience❣️

    Maybe its just me but I honestly think her family motivation far supercedes her food motivation 💚💚💚 if you watch the video back (as you said yourself hun) she wasnt trying to get anything off the counter she was trying to see what was there... bc that's where they boys had just focused their energy in a very positive fashion... an energy she had been a part of mere moments before
    Also likely why the treat didn't distract her... once crated she'd been cut off from family time and she settled quick ... but she didn't stay laying down ... she sat up and watched.. not a drop of drool... she was watching the interaction but wasn't sniffing the air looking for smells.
    Lol I watched it back 3x myself... once to make sure what I'd noticed and twice more bc it was so dang adorable... 💚🫂💚
    Mad love and sooooo much respect for all you guys do!!!
    These clips have become my happy thought before bed each morning.. they're a much needed kick in the butt at times too... if they don't give up the least I can do each afternoon when I get up is try again too lol!
    I may have given my girls a roof but when things got wonky for a bit and we spent some months not having a play I was always awed by them bc they didn't care where we were as long as it was together lol... they made it feel like home no matter where we were 💚💚💚

Currently we have a Boxer pit bull mix and we just found out she has a tumor it breaks our❤ because we have had her since she was a pup. We may have to put her down because she is in a lot of pain and suffering and the vet told us the tumor is threatening her life. It cuts like a knife! We have 6 dogs. They are sometimes underfoot during cooking, and prep, but we also make their treats in the kitchen. They know OUR food is OURS, but love it when we share, after we have eaten. Food fixation is a different problem that an opportunistic beggar. We do not feed them from the table EVER. ALL “ shared food” is divided up for all 6 dogs, so, sometimes it’s just a bite each, sometimes more. We have one severely under weight dog, and her extra protein snacks are given away from from the others. All 6 share a single large kibble bowl, and several water bowls. I’ve had both dogs and cats that were food fixated, usually from not getting enough to eat, or not having regular feeding times. Sometimes, it took months to reassure them that food would always be available, in quantities to satisfy them.

      Dogs see crates as their bed room. My dog loves to go and sleep in it even if I haven't put her in it as the door is always open. If i mave her crate, she wants to know where its going cause thats her bed. It's their own space to retreat to. Dogs dont understand "prison" and most dogs that dont like crates/kennels have either not been introduced to it for long (new places can take time), they haven't been introduced to it the right way, or have separation anxiety which isnt good for the dog. I had a very large old English bulldog. She was ‘crate trained’.
      Despite the crate rarely being used. She knew what ‘cage’ meant. When told to ‘cage’ she’d go and lay down in her cage (without having to close the gate).
      But we didn’t use it as punishment, more as a safe place that was hers. Which was hilarious to see her distress when 1 of my sons would go lay in her cage. But she’d also get jealous if the boys wore her collar🤦‍♂️. But that always just turned into a huge play. Kid in the cage? Suddenly there’d be a kid AND a dog in the cage. Giggling from the kid and silly tail stump wiggling from the dog as the took turns laying on each other (mock wrestling). She was even clever enough, when the boy was in the cage, that she’d nose the gate closed and smugly sit in front of the gate! Trapping the boy in the cage. She was extremely proud of herself when she trapped a boy. 😂

    I think M 2 should have first given the puppy Smiley some of they're food. That's was very insensitive. And, shouldn't have kept the poor puppy in the crate especially she was crying. I'm sorry that was very heartless of M 2. The puppy calmed down anyway. She should have been more patient and loving with the puppy. How would M 2 like someone to lock her in a cage only because she acted out of curiosity and was just being a typical puppy?

    • @Gabby-jq4ii
      @Gabby-jq4ii 2 роки тому +2

      Considering how much the dog liked being in the crate? I think M2 would be fine. The dog doesn't understand someone being "insensitive." Because the puppy was acting like a typical puppy, aka no manners it's OK for them to show a different way. To wait and be calm or settle around food. Could she have done better sure. But having the dog be in the crate to just be and not have so many choices and ways to make the wrong one/not be taught the right way + stress them out because some think it's mean to have them be in a crate, is way to much for the dog.

    • @laragunnewiek
      @laragunnewiek 2 роки тому +4

      I don't think she should have given some of their food to smiley... that is actually very dumb of u to say lol
      That would actually affirm this kind of behavior (jumping on the counter) as a good thing and that's is not something u want ur dog to do.
      Another thing is Smiley could start to think that the food they eat is also for her to eat... and that's nor right. It could start other bad behaviors like stealing the food and etc.
      Dogs are not humans and treating them as such can cause very behavioral issues on them. It's not insensitive to not give the dog their food it's actually the right thing to do! This kind of behavior should not be encouraged.

    Hi, I recently commented on how inhumane M 2 was with this precious puppy Smiley. Mariah is not an authority or experienced dog trainer. She had no right time put Smiley 🤣 n her crate for just being a curious puppy. I think Tia, needs to seriously put M 2 in her place. The puppy had never been in a home before and like any puppy or full grown dog she smelled the food and wanted some. She should have definitely given the puppy some eggs to taste. Right away she called Lizzy the complain about Smiley. Even Lizzie was surprised. M 2 needs to grow up and be taught how to treat and train animals. I was very opposed to how she treated this poor puppy. And I ve received comments from viewers agreeing with me.

      Inhumane!?! How dramatic. The dogs they get are treated Inhumananly. You don't give a dog what ever they want when they want it. Imagine they take to dog to a park and someone is having a picnic. It'll stress the dog out because your telling her no or she breaks free of you and ruins someone's picnic. Putting the dog in the crate simply allows her to calm down and de stress because she doesn't have to be put in the situation where she doesn't know what to do/thinks the choice she is making is the right one and being prevented. Could this "training session" gone better? Yes but they were just seeing where the dog was at

      @Lynby there are benefits to crating a dog. SOME (not all) dogs with anxiety feel safe in a crate and calm down that way. It also teaches a dog that crates aren’t a bad thing making it easier for when you have to put them in a carrier for airplane, or car trips (yes, I know that there are dog seat belts for cars, & some airlines let a well trained dog roam on the plane after take off, but there are different rules and/or bylaws for airlines, states/provinces & cities/towns). If a dog has never seen a crate before this may cause a dog to get anxious and therefore not be able to travel with their human. As for housetraining & potty training a dog some dogs seem to pick up training better with the use of a crate, while other dogs don’t need it. Every dog is different & you also have to take in the fact that Smiley is a rescue. All he mostly knows is life as an outdoor kennel dog. Which is probably why Smiley settled down in the crate so quickly when the leash tactic wasn’t working. He was probably reacting the way he was not just because he was curious, and excited, but there might’ve been some stress in there to because he was in a new environment. The crate mimicked the kennel he had been living in so he felt safe & calmed down. Anyways… just a long way of saying that not all things that seem horrid are 🙂
