- Short follow-on from the Refurbishment of the Enertec 4431 function Generator, Pete goes back and replaces the capacitors after eagle-eyed Defpom contacted him about waveform bounce. Pete shows the original capacitors, takes some measurment, discusses measurement frequency and a bit about the capacitor equivalent model and how higher than expected capacitoance readings can indicate leakage.

thanks to @Defpom's Electronics Repair ua-cam.com/channels/llpBTH26_dAl5tYl7vA1TQ.html for pointing out the problem. If you haven't subscribed to him you should do!
Thank you, and very nice work there on the video.
Good follow-through. Nice job.
Thanks!
Q-Tip is a brand name that is also used in the UK, Cotton bud is the generic name
Thanks - I sometimes end up using US terms without thinking - I am so ashamed!!!
The PCB Adapters are quite an elegant solution. Kudos. For a non-adapter solution, maybe this would work... Use caps with axial leads and mount them vertically, as you would mount a resistor vertically and bend its free lead over to solder to the off-center pad. I guess that it depends on the new capacitors being smaller in diameter, allowing access to the non-centered pad...
Yes, but always sleave the long lead and/or tie it to the cap and then use a bit of pcb grade silicon to stop cap moving. Sometimes you can fit radial if the spacing is not too different - again though silicon to stop it moving. In this case have to be careful to ensure continuity - one part of the board was using the availability of 3-pins as a jumper to get ground to a tricky position.
Those boards are a nice solution
Thanks, Adapters are handy to have but I need to find a PCB supplier who lets me mix multiple designs on a single board - JLCPCB used to let me but now they charge extra engineering fee.
@@MakeOrRepair The way to solve that is to get a sponsorship so you don't have to pay for the boards, PCBway sponsor me currently (whenever I need to make a PCB they are happy to support me), I have also worked with JCLPCB, and PCBgogo, I suggest trying one of those companies to see if they will offer you sponsorship.
