  • Preparing for sale, Pete checks out an Enertec Schlumberger (solartron) 4431 Programmable Function Generator. He need to sort out some "hit-and-miss" switches and then does a few quick performance checks.
This is model 4431/3 Which has the optional IEC bus fitted but not the stand-alone programmable module. All performance seems to be in spec and PEte checks amplitude and THD which is well within the specified -25dB

    Cool gen, thanks for sharing!

I could see the waveform bouncing on the scope at the end there so the main filter caps will need replacing.

I normally spot that, I'll take a look again. And access to the voltage test point is good so should be easy enough. And it was going so well!

Hi Defpom! I didn't catch that. Can you tell us the timestamp so I can learn what you saw? Thanks!

@@pcwrangler09 funny thing is, I've gone and looked on the scope again and i have to work really hard to make it show up at all but it is really obvious on the video. in fact the ripple on the power rails is so small it barely appears out of the noise at 1mv per division. Anyway, going to swap out some caps now it is open again, I'll do a short update video because i did say I was going to look at the voltage test points and I forgot. someone else also asked why i was not worried when 1v output measured as 1.02 in the scope so I can cover that.

    termination 50ohm > side oscilloscope !

normally put it scope side but at these low frequencies makes little odds. Neither the cable nor the terminator are particulalry high standard and that would have a much larger impact.
