I have memories of my family on Haunted Mansion. I started crying when the ghoul popped out in front of me in the cemetery. My mom, who was sitting next to me, comforted me until the end. After we got off, my wife heard what had happened and told me to grow up.
Don't worry AJ, we love the animatronics, so that section was just fine! Thanks for doing such a fabulous job on the narration of these videos and to the staff at DFB for producing awesome (and very helpful) content.
How could you leave out the Tiki Room as an animatronic bonus?! Not a ride but I enjoyed the show for the first time in 20+ years this January (first time for my kids and husband) and LOVED it just as much or more than I did long ago!!
I would have added the Tiki Room. For one thing, you can SIT DOWN and you’re in a dark and often cool room. This is a great ride to just unwind. As for teens: Tron, The Mountains, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribbean (how could you not mention that one?), and the Orbiter-especially at night.
I went to Disneyland last year and my almost 3-year old (she was a month shy of her birthday) absolutely loved driving on Autopia. I handled the gas pedal since she couldn't reach it. She wasn't a great driver by any means, but the experience was just fantastic for her (and she still talks about it to this day)
I took an engineer friend who thought he hated Disneyworld with us to the parks. I took him to the TIki Room and, at the end of the show, he stood on a bench and examined a bird with great delight. He could not get over all of the doohickies and whatchamacallits (not his words - he used the real ones) that made the bird move. He was suddenly a Disney fan.
Count me as a Haunted Mansion fan since early childhood. My family's first trip there was in 1974 (I think, maybe 1975) and we stayed at the Contemporary. (Back then, it WAS contemporary!) I wasn't even 10 years old yet. Somehow I knew the Haunted Mansion was all make-believe, not that I knew how any of the effects were achieved. But I definitely erred too far into that realm of make-believe.... How so? I remember standing in line for the Haunted Mansion at night, when suddenly there was lightning overhead. It didn't begin to rain - in fact it never did rain at all - but there was lightning anyway. I was standing in line with my aunt (who was a teenager at the time) and confidently explained that the reason we see lightning but no rain is because of Disney's special effects. My aunt tried to explain that the lightning was real, and I considered it for a moment. But no, I decided, "that lightning was put there by Disney to make the ride seem more scary." In other words, I have LONG been a true believer in Disney magic!
Unpopular opinion: Unless you are a coaster completionist or a Snow White super fan, you can skip Seven Dwarves Mine Train. The line is long, the ride is short, the thrills are minimal.
Agreed. More dark ride sections and less outside coaster elements (making it more like an all ages Mummy / Gringots) would have made for a better ride IMO.
@Elaine Hill I will get on Peter Pan's Flight, only if it has a 10-15 minute wait, just to play with the stuff in the queue line. The ride itself is meh.
I was terrified of Haunted Mansion when I was a kid (I still remember burying my face in my mom's side lol), and now it's my favorite ride, along with Pirates. 😄
I passed 2 kidney stones and when I tell you I was running in circles because if I stood still I could feel them passing and it was so painful. So I understand how a bumpy Rollercoaster could keep your mind off the passing and help the moving process 😅
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will always have a special place in my heart. I was obsessed with Buzz Lightyear as a kid and I vividly remember my first time going on the ride (it was 2009 or 2010). I had so much fun on the ride that I literally refused to get off it😂. I made my dad go on it with me so many times that just let us stay on the ride until we wanted to leave. Fast forward to about a month ago when I came back to Disney World for the first time since then I immediately made my friends go on it with me the second we got into Magic Kingdom. Let’s just say… it wasn’t as good as I remember lol. I’ve clearly aged out of it at this point (I’m 19 now) but that first time riding it will always be a core memory for me.
TTA PeopleMover is the best ride at MK. Great at night and during fireworks but best in mid afternoon when it's hot, everything has long lines and you just want to sit down, take a break and people watch.
My 3 year old son would stop walking every 20 yards and look behind after getting off the haunted mansion... he was looking out for ghosts following him home... so cute!
At Disney now. Going to Magic Kingdom tomorrow again. Good to know for rides we haven’t gone on yet .Virtual queues are great. Keep you updated on your time to return.
As a 49 year old man, I still LOOOOVE animatronics! As an Oregonian, I’ve been to Disneyland 9 times (so far) Going to Disney World for my 50th birthday next year.” Looking forward to seeing DW’s animatronics!
the most advanced is the Shaman on Navi River Journey at Animal Kingdom. It really is incredible. However, the ride is VERRRY short, so I wouldn't wait long for it. It's just not worth waiting an hour for this one. It's not even worth 30 minutes. I'll only ride it again if it's a walk-on!
Definitely an animatronics fan - which is odd, because I abhor costumed characters walking around. Legitimately frightens me, but animatronics, I wholeheartedly love. So thank you for including them AJ!
i AM a big animatronic fan! my very first disney trip was when i was 8 years old and they just completely impressed me, i couldn't believe they looked so realistic. i'm 23 now and continue to be impressed over the years with how much they have evolved
I think the first time I went to WDW was 1972. I was 6 or 7. We went on the Haunted Mansion. I had my head in Daddy's lap almost the whole way through. It's my favorite ride now. I'm almost 60 now. I will never forget that first time, though.
I know it's not a ride so technically doesn't count, but the worst attraction at the Magic Kingdom is, hands down, the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. It has all the thrills of walking up a flight of stairs. Which, of course, is exactly what you want to do after walking for miles and standing in line for hours. They should add a subtitle to the attraction..."Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse: Feel the Burn!"
I'm surprised you did not mention Seven Dwarfs Mine-Train for thrill rides! If you're someone who hates drops like me and you're in the back row for that one it can push your limits quite a bit.
OK, AJ, you wanted to know about preschooler who can drive. Not the Autopia (we took my kid when he was 9 to Disneyland - he hated it - I'm thinking that they switched kids at birth on me) but the Legoland driving ride in San Diego. My kid was about 4 and they do not have it on a track. It's literally just a bunch of kids driving around motorized go carts. Some kid crashed in front of my kid and to my ever loving shock, my kid swung his car around the crash, avoided hitting other kids who couldn't figure out what to do and kept going. Other parents were cheering my kid! Now my kid is 17 and refuses to get a driver's license so ..
I rode It' A Small Word - once - in 1965 - in Flushing Queens. That was quite enough for me, thank you. I don't however take a Disney World without going up (and down) the Swiss Family Robinson tree house. S.O. thinks the same way about People Mover.
Intense Opinion: Drag every person who is scared of trying The Haunted Mansion for the 1st time on onto it anyway...they will thank you afterwards, and ask to go on it again!!! I was that way as a kid, and my neices and nephews were that way, and I've heard countless others with similar stories of this being the case!!!
I took my 4yo girl to tower of terror and haunted mansion and she loved them both. She got a little scared in the universal kingkong ride, but other than that she did great
We enjoyed MK the least during our trip to Disney two weeks ago. The park was packed. Every single ride was more than 75min wait, including little mermaid, mad teacup, etc. We used Genius+ for Peter Pan and Jungle cruise. It was useless for the rest of the day because it was either unavailable or super late during the day. The humid hot weather didn't help either.
The first time my daughter rode Haunted Mansion as a child, she kept her sunglasses on the whole time and was so mad at me. Lol Now, she's 25 and it's one of the first places we go and the family buys her every Haunted Mansion thing that comes out. 😊
Fab! Been looking for lists for people who don't like speed or heights (motion sickness isn't an issue), and for fans of Disney history and animatronics. Hoping to find a similar video for the other Disney World parks. I grew up with Disneyland, but WDW will be a new experience for me. Btw-- soooo excited at the opportunity to ride the People Mover again, but... does the MK version not shrink you down?! Gutted!
Because AJ asked, I’m a huge fan of animatronics. To me, there’s nothing that says Disney quite like animatronics. My favorite attractions have always featured them heavily.
They should do away with it and build something new. I understand the nostalgia for it but it's kind of just "there". Nobody gets excited for their Disney trip because of Tomorrow Land Speedway. They could put something really cool on all that space.
@@MrNBreezy215 Why I'm baffled AJ gets excited for the round-about rides. There are umpteen amusement parks closer to where you live that offer the same thrill in a different theme. If there is basically no wait, go nuts. If there is, you're wasting your money.
Talking of Soace Mountain, I prefer it at Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland. They each have two seats in each row of the train. Disneyland Paris has, by far, the most adventurous Soace Mountain. It has a high speed launch and the track does a loop (and maybe a barrel roll;- haven’t been to that park since 2000.)
My family goes to six flags a lot so when we went to Disney we completely avoided the aerial carousels and teacups. They have basically the same thing at every other theme park, just with different theming. "Basic" amusement park rides aren't even on my radar when it comes to Disney lol
So excited I was waiting for this I’m going to magic kingdom today it would be my first time trying other rides I tried the carousel back in Nov 14 2020 🎠
I’m not sure how this happens, but every time I have been to MK, the line for Magic Carpets and Astro Orbiter have been 30-40 min so I never bothered going on them

There is a special place in my heart for Carousel of Progress, in small part because they make referenence to the Wright Brothers, though they mistakenly suggest they were from North Carolina. Since I worked at Wright State University, I know where they were really from!
When I was a kid I was a terrible chicken, so the first time I went to Disneyland (I live on the west coast) when the Haunted Mansion opened, I skipped it, mostly on account of those characters that leapt out of gravestones and shrieked. They're not there anymore, but I'd seen them on TV, so I waited for my family at the exit. Unfortunately, that meant I had to stand there hearing "Hurry back...hurry back..." for 10-15 minutes. Embarrassing.
This is for either DL or WDW but definitely do Jungle Cruise at night if you like the corny jokes or just a jungle cruise fan. Some jokes are only done when it is dark and skippers can play with the lights. 😊
Okay, if It's a Small World gets voted the worst due to a song stuck in your head, and we're considering Carousel of Progress to be a ride, we do need to warn people about that one. Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow is just as catchy as It's a Small World. - Full disclosure, I am very susceptible to earworms, but neither of these bother me when stuck in the brain. I have ridden with people who do have issues with them, however.
I just rode TRON the other day and it's a good ride but it's exactly 60 seconds long which makes it kinda hard to recommend waiting 6 hours in the virtual queue and 1 hour in the physical queue like I had to
I have memories of my family on Haunted Mansion. I started crying when the ghoul popped out in front of me in the cemetery. My mom, who was sitting next to me, comforted me until the end. After we got off, my wife heard what had happened and told me to grow up.

I ❤ the Tiki Room!
HOW COULD YOU...
@Hope But they mentioned the Hall of Presidents, and that also is a show-not-a-ride!!!
I came here to say this too! It should have been listed under animatronics, non-riders and historical/nostalgic rides!
Ngl I would put it in the boring section. Not to put anyone down who enjoys it, it was charming...but I also dozed off for a moment.
I would have added the Tiki Room. For one thing, you can SIT DOWN and you’re in a dark and often cool room. This is a great ride to just unwind.

Comparing People Mover to comfort food is brilliant . . . and accurate!

Agreed. Also, I think Peter Pans flight not worth the lengthy line but many people disagree with that.
@@elainehill5931 Peter Pans Flight used to have s really average wait when I used to go in the past. Incredible how much it’s changed in DW.

I agree. Also the seat is pretty uncomfortable if you have big thighs. The lap bar pins your knees together.

I’m planning for November 😁
I love the animatronics!! You forgot to mention the Country Bear Jamboree.. 🐻❤️
Happy Monday, y’all! 🎩🥂🖤
Huge animatronic lover here! One of the many many reasons I miss splash mountain 😢
I like the animatronics, AJ. You’re not alone.
For sure an animatronic gal! I love them! For some reason they are just so endearing and feel like my old friends.

Completely agree!
ABSOLUTELY an animatronics fan! First time in Haunted Mansion was Christmas vacation 1971! we were 6,9, and 10!
I have literally been obsessed with animatronics for about ten years so don’t worry you’re totally justified in adding that segment!
I'm surprised you did not mention Seven Dwarfs Mine-Train for thrill rides! If you're someone who hates drops like me and you're in the back row for that one it can push your limits quite a bit.
Haunted Mansion 🙌🙌🙌 is the best!!! Love Peter Pan and the Tinker Bell effects while your standing in line!

AJ, I definitely defend your decision to have an entire section on animatronics 👍
Looking forward to trying out non-drowsy DRAMAMINE @ WDW in a few weeks .. .. We'll see how it does .. ..
Thank you sooooo much for this I ❤️ this !!!!💖💖💖🤩 thank you
100% all in on animatronic dark rides! Explains why I prefer practical SFX too.

Animateonics is what Disney is known for it is at the heart of imagineering
I'm a Huge Animatronics fan! I'm fascinated on how they work and Move. I'm an engineer so, thanks for that section!!
Yes animatronic fan! I went nuts over the priestess on na’vi river boat journey!
I love animatronics its different and it makes the ride even more interesting to me so thank you for putting this in the video
Big animatronic fan here!

i love animatronics, its so cool what weve been able to accomplish with them
Animatronics are awesome! We Stan Animatronics (even if FNAF is what got me into them)
I’m going to all parks in two days and I NEED THIS
I am in fact an animatronic fan. It why I love “It’s a Small World”

I ended up going to Animal kingdom instead I will go to magic kingdom may 5
What rides did u enjoy?
AJ its me, Im the animatronic fan lol. Loved that section!
I love the animatronics! ❤❤❤
I mean I like buzz lightyear space ranger spin it’s been one of my favorite rides when I was little but I understand it’s your opinion
I love animatronic rides. They're pretty much my favorite.
Hate exciting roller coasters- love the Mine Train.
I say yes to animatronics specially when it’s done right!!! Keep up the GOOD WORK ❤️👍
We love the animatronics! 😊
Animatronic fan here 🙋♀It was a big influence in becoming an engineer myself 😍
Tea cup ride can be the most intense ride in the park. Get a bunch of your friends on it and see how fast you can spin it.
I L❤️VED the pirates of the Caribbean when I was little. We would go on it 4-5 in a row!
I’m not sure how this happens, but every time I have been to MK, the line for Magic Carpets and Astro Orbiter have been 30-40 min so I never bothered going on them
I love Small World and any carousel type ride
I’ll take your turn
I was terrified of Haunted Mansion, but no one else in my family was, and no one was willing to sit out with me. So I was forced on it multiple times a year 😢 I’d block my ears and squeeze my eyes shut but I still saw stuff 😢
THE BEST RIDE FOR ME IS CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS
I was so mad to find out that there wouldn’t be live meet and greet with them in Disney World.. didn’t Disney land remove the ride in CA.. I LOVE this ride
AJ…i hate shorts on UA-cam….but you NEED to make that kidney stone thing a short so i can send it to my dad 😂
Just about any ride in MK could be on either list. For me, any MK ride with a short line is a good ride!
There is a special place in my heart for Carousel of Progress, in small part because they make referenence to the Wright Brothers, though they mistakenly suggest they were from North Carolina. Since I worked at Wright State University, I know where they were really from!
Love animatronics!!! Thank you
My favorite rollercoaster is the “Disney stock coaster” biggest drop ive ever seen!
I’m looking forward to tron
Love animatronics!! Love your videos!
I love the animatronics in Disney World!! I’m an animatronics fan!!
I adore animatronics
Especially Tiki Room and Pirates
I don’t enjoy any sort of thrill rides
I’m a animatronics fan as well! 😊
