Top notch for mid 70's build for sure. Ultra contemporary with the diagonally set slats on the wall , sky lights in the living room floor to ceiling windows with some at 45 degree slants. The architectural vocabulary of this mansion was amazing . The previous owners spent a pretty penny having that house designed and built to modern for the day arch specs . Once again an amazing find and a crying shame if it is scheduled to be torn down. I would live there and rehab the place in a heart beat . Glad that you were able to document it before it's gone .
This mansion is unusual and unique, I love it all, and it is a shame a place like this is going to be torn down! It would be a dream come true to have the means to live in a place like this!! Ty for sharing!! Stay safe and keep on exploring! 🙂❤
WOW WOW WOW!!! This is such a unique home and built with such amazing quality - the woodwork, the stonework, the marble, the granite, the pool, the sauna, the light fixtures, the bathrooms, the plumbing fixtures, the closets, the mirrors, the leaded and stained glass, the windows and doors, the courtyard and garden spaces - incredible!! No expense was spared!! In that massive master suite, the plumbing fixtures were probably gold plated copper or brass, because one can see the verdigris tarnish/stain on some of them. That smaller space where it was cold, looked like a bathrooms/bedrooms/kitchenette area...I'm guessing that was servant's quarters. I wish there was existing blueprints of the floorplan somewhere. That would be pretty amazing. This home SHOULD NOT BE DESTROYED! SO MUCH that remains is very salvageable. If this home is destroyed, that would be just shameful!! Hopefully it'll be remodeled, but in the same opulence. A lot of the old fixtures could be sold/auctioned off to people interested in giving them new life. ALL of the bathtubs in this home are probably porcelain over cast iron. Very durable!! And new jet systems can be put in the jetted tubs and upcycled. If I had money, disposable income type of money, I'd LOVE to buy this and lovingly restore it, instead of stripping the original character from it!! Fingers crossed it doesn't get destroyed!!
Recognized this house immediately in the thumbnail as I once stumbled across it while doing some hiking with a friend. It’s a beautiful design and it’s a shame to see it vandalized. Thanks for making these videos it’s both fascinating and sad to see these places that once were and to think of all the people and memories that passed through them.
That is why they should never take so long in trying to decide whether to renovate it or tear it down ,as longer it's sits vacant the higher chance of more kids coming in to vandalize it ,not sure who is even responsible if a kid gets hurt while vandalizing it
My favorite part is the sunken living room in front of the fireplace, I saw that in the late 80s at my dads friends house, it was so freaking cool with an octagon shaped couch t was custom made, I was nine at the time, and I still love interior design, so that, and all that beautiful, natural light, if I had the money, I definitely would not tear down. It’s very original, great find✌🏻💕
I don’t often like huge mansions due to the high degree of grotesquely designed features lacking any taste, but this one seems pretty nice. I think that one room you didn’t know the purpose of is a sitting room. I really like the pool area. That one is cool.
It is only a lack of taste by your personal opinion - doesn’t mean diddly squat - maybe it is you lacking in appreciation and the understanding that you are not the universal guardian of good taste
I love this place! I wonder what's wrong with people that they feel the need to vandalize property. What do people get out of destroying other people's things?
The layout of this house isn't bad for being built in the 70's, the pool room would definitely need to be updated, opened up because those extra rooms are a waste. Those rooms can be turned into a game room with pool table, possibly open up and extend the overhang where the patio was and add a small bar looking over the pool. Either way, I hope they don't demolish this house, the wood work, cedar all over the place is just amazing. Stone work looks exceptional too.
Those two areas in the middle of the house surrounded by windows or walls on all four sides, open sky, are called atriums. I think courtyards usually have outside access. I grew up in house with an atrium, it was a great feature. Also I think the cook & or housekeeper lived in the 'cold' plain rooms off the kitchen. No fancy bathrooms for the help.
The back staircase off kitchen took you up to an entire separate living quarter. Probably where Maid or Nanny lived. Also laundry area was near there. Loved the house.
Love this house. So funny that the "records" smashed on the floor are laser discs, not vinyl. And the "iPads" in the walls weren't. Probably security screens.
Thanks for calling those out. Not hating on the young buck here, but it's a pretty easy google to figure out what those things are. Considering these kids are internet natives, I'm a little disappointed they didn't think to do some cursory research before throwing this out there.
This video was the best one I have seen so far. Love, love, LOVE the pool area and the first half of the house. If I could afford to live there, I would. The wood, the pool, the design, perfect! ❤️
The house looks to have a well thought out passive solar design. It would be interesting to know who the architect was, which may have an effect on value, and its unique design may add more value if restored and updated, rather than demolishing it, so as to put a few more houses in an area that does not appear to have a land shortage.
@@SaraBellum777 his name was Norman jaffe. He is pretty famous. I find it hard to believe this house will be demolished. I hope he is mistaken. Most of the houses he built in the Hampton have been restored and are very sought after.
When a house has a multi room bathroom with an upstairs and a downstairs and it's own staircase, you are definitely rolling In money. Either that, or you are REALLY into bathrooms. To bad it's getting demolished, I would love a 2 story bathroom with its own staircase😁
A stunning and unique architectural masterpiece with a distinct oriental twist. The wooden ceiling in the pool area is breathtaking - this house should NOT be knocked down. A very cool explore
"Cleaning system for the pool" is a central vacuum. Just plug the hose into a wall outlet and that thing automatically turns on. If you see one, also look in the kickspace under cabinets, because there were sometimes outlets you could turn on or off by kicking a switch and sweep dust into them.
So true for other mansion the plumbing and heating seems like an after thought placement. To the point when you enter the housing room, things are all over the place.
I think that "entertainment room" off to the side of the master was just that. They're rich so it was probably an extra living room for the master as opposed to having the TV and entertainment in the bedroom
I adore this house and those style of design. It's honestly something you would see in 1970s 1980s movies/tv shows. I wouldn't be surprised if it was used in a film or show its that nice, great architecture. I'd love to know who the architect was.
Yes I agree this house is a masterpiece. The architect was Norman Jaffe in the 70's 👍 a genius that designed much of this style houses and unfortunately he died by suicide 😢
Norman Jaffe...in the past we thought great artistic work or buildings had to be preserved as a testament of our generations brilliance. With such a home getting demolished how will future tell that we too created great work. Where will they can inspiration from?
Dream home, I'd probably never leave if I lived there. Also, I can't imagine what it would be like to grow up in a house like this. Just imagine what their vacation homes were like....
I think this is why extremely wealthy people often rent these kinds of homes. The upkeep is insanely tiresome, but then on top of that ....expensive. And then, you have to remodel every so often to keep it looking like it's supposed to...which is a fortune more. Gorgeous home. Thanks for posting.
I'm surprised it has not been vandalized - there must be some security. If it is to be demolished the wood should be recycled, used elsewhere. It would also make for a good community centre if condos were built around it. Lots of potential. Well done guys.
Probably because people with tons of money would still rather have something new instead. Otherwise this house (cool as it is) would've already sold a long time ago by now.
This house is gorgeous. I am a very modern/contemporary type person, and this house is all that. As for all of the wood in this house... Normally, I would not like it, but because of all the beautiful stonework, the woodwork looks just as beautiful. The stonework and woodwork, enhance/accentuate one another. I rarely comment on abandoned houses, but this one is amazing. Thank you for taking the time to do this mansion. You always do such a great job, with your explorations. Anytime I need to relax, I just watch a few of your videos. You really seem to enjoy, what you do, and it shows in your videos. Keep up the great work! You are so appreciated. Peace! ☮️

Agreed. I can't see an empty pool without thinking of the one in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. It was at an old soviet HQ that the US was using as a base. The empty pool had bullet holes in it and the story was that the taliban had executed people in it.
It’s a sin for anyone wanting to demolish this mansion . As a designer and builder , I’m amazed the elements haven’t taken its toll . The Architectural details in the ceiling are amazing . Wish someone would buy and preserve the house . Wonder where it’s located?
It's the Milton Gilbert house, look it up, it has an interesting story that I wish this UA-camr would spend a minute looking it up and sharing. Alpine NY.
You never showed us where those spiral stairs led to! I am dying to know. Staircases are my favorite part of a house. Please let us see where all the stairs go ( as long as they are safe of course). Especially the back and enclosed stairs. Thank you so much!
First off, I’d like to thank you for being very considerate and respectful how you treat every building that you show us. You’d think that in the pool area that the windows would open to bring the outdoor’s in.
I loved the whole house, in my mind I can't fathom why anyone in their right mind would want to tear it down. I would be living in it or find someone to rent it to. Loved it!!!
The pool and the room’s ceiling, tile circle floor in kitchen and swan golden fixtures are my favorites. But all is incredible. Thank you, BigBankz for showing!wow 😮
Beautiful architecture and details! I hope they decide not to demolish it because it would be wonderful as a resort or retreat, even a winery with all the land.
This has been my favorite abandoned mansion so far! I truly hope they restore instead of rebuilding. I'm in absolute love with this location❤️ BTW I'm watching from the super small town of Forest City in Rutherford County North Carolina!! I bet you don't come down to these parts huh?
This mansion is fantastic, the design is awesome. I have never seen before an inside pool like this,so beautiful. Sad to see the destroy! Thanks for the video. Greetings from Germany.
Everything inside the mansion is dated back to mid-80's to early 90's. Amazing how well this house has held up to the elements. I did not see any mold at all considering it has been sitting ther for so long. Testimony to the level of quality build which was done. Having the pool and the wood work over the pool area as the focal point is not everyone's cup of tea so it would take a very specific kind of buyer to want this. Maintaining a pool is a lot of work & costly. The floor plan of the house feels quite odd/strange/abnormal. After seeing so many of these very expensive abandoned mansion which still have really valuable elements in it, makes me wonder if maybe someday there would be a company (or an industry) which has expertise in how to break these down to get the most use out of them in a secondary market or even, to donate to Habitat for Humanity. It would require setting up a network of connections....who knows, maybe there is already one out there... Thanks for sharing this.
Wow,but even if it's tore down,a lot of the house can be saved, the doors ,windows, light fixtures the batb rooms and the beautiful wood. The property is gorgeous.I do hope they remodel it 👍❤️
Good afternoon from Cape Cod ⚓ now this place is absolutely phenomenal! Thanks for taking us along. Keep up the great work and may God bless you and your family 👍✌️🇺🇲
I do believe the last room with the downgraded bathroom was the maid's quarters, with easy access to the laundry area. What a spectacular house. I always envision what it must have been like when it was filled with a family. Love your videos :)
I don’t like mansions. I liked my parent’s almost mansion as a teen just because I could hide away in the house somewhere and I felt like I was in my own place. But being a mom now I feel safer in a smaller home.
The house is surprisingly sound and only needs a bit of maintenance to get it into shape again because it is already in decent condition. It would be a shame to tear down such a nice house, especially since it has survived for so long.
I would love to have a job like yours! It has to be so cool stepping into what others lived in and figuring out their lifestyles, joys and oft times sad endings to their lives stories Thanks for a great tour!
The mid century design of the house looks amazing. The interior looks like it was re-done in the early to mid 90s witch I am not much of a fan. Looks like they kept the original wooden wall and ceiling strips and wooden flooring so that's cool. The original 70s interior must have been awesome.
I'm having a hard time understanding the decision to put the bedrooms right next to an indoor pool. Even if it's salt water, to avoid the chlorine smell, you'd still have to contend with the moisture getting into the rugs and furniture.
This was a beautiful home at one time! The, "...cleaning system for the pool", is a central vacuum. It's for vacuuming carpets throughout the house, not cleaning the pool. You just plug the vacuum hose into vacuum receptacles in the wall rather than having to drag a vacuum cleaner all over the house. The room with the chrome chandelier is more likely a dining room than a billiard room. And the smaller room with the antler chandelier is probably a breakfast room, judging by the floor decoration. It would be great if someone would buy this who would restore it to the beautiful home that it was intended to be.
This is actually my favorite mansion UA-cam video of all time. It hurt to see what kids have done to it. My favorite part is the woodwork in the ceiling above the pool.

1996 was when it was built
@@lisajackson5134 Note the Gold and green, definitely 90's.
@@lisajackson5134 2:41 "This mega mansion was constructed in 1976"
@@lisajackson5134 it looked really 1990s to me, absolutely.
@@weareallbeingwatched4602 Redecorated in the nineties. The architecture, stone , and woodwork are original from the seventies.
This mansion is unusual and unique, I love it all, and it is a shame a place like this is going to be torn down! It would be a dream come true to have the means to live in a place like this!! Ty for sharing!! Stay safe and keep on exploring! 🙂❤
I wonder how long they lived there?
I question why a little girls bedroom is next to the pool unless you lock her in at night.
Where about were you hiking when you came across this mansion?
That is why they should never take so long in trying to decide whether to renovate it or tear it down ,as longer it's sits vacant the higher chance of more kids coming in to vandalize it ,not sure who is even responsible if a kid gets hurt while vandalizing it
You should mention all the cedar wood in most of the closets. You know it repels moths that eat clothing. This place is great!❤😊
My favorite part is the sunken living room in front of the fireplace, I saw that in the late 80s at my dads friends house, it was so freaking cool with an octagon shaped couch t was custom made, I was nine at the time, and I still love interior design, so that, and all that beautiful, natural light, if I had the money, I definitely would not tear down. It’s very original, great find✌🏻💕
I don’t often like huge mansions due to the high degree of grotesquely designed features lacking any taste, but this one seems pretty nice. I think that one room you didn’t know the purpose of is a sitting room. I really like the pool area. That one is cool.
Big Mansion are cool
It is only a lack of taste by your personal opinion - doesn’t mean diddly squat - maybe it is you lacking in appreciation and the understanding that you are not the universal guardian of good taste
@@lindamaggs9787 so you like all mansions? All cheeseburgers? All shows on TV? You’re correct that it is all my opinion just as yours is your own.
Wow..be nice everyone can have an opinion. Agree to disagree ✌🏼
I love this place! I wonder what's wrong with people that they feel the need to vandalize property. What do people get out of destroying other people's things?
Humans are the most destructive creatures on this earth.
Built in 1996 not 1976
Those two areas in the middle of the house surrounded by windows or walls on all four sides, open sky, are called atriums. I think courtyards usually have outside access. I grew up in house with an atrium, it was a great feature. Also I think the cook & or housekeeper lived in the 'cold' plain rooms off the kitchen. No fancy bathrooms for the help.
One of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever seen!! That woodwork is spectacular!! This home is worthy of being restored. What a beauty!’
Some of the areas in this home have a Frank Lloyd Wright vibe. Gorgeous.
I felt the same. There seems to be some FLW influence there. Nice catch!
😆 🤣 😂
Thought the same
The back staircase off kitchen took you up to an entire separate living quarter.
Obviously joking bruh
Love the architecture
..and love how much natural sunlight the house gets.
This video was the best one I have seen so far. Love, love, LOVE the pool area and the first half of the house. If I could afford to live there, I would. The wood, the pool, the design, perfect! ❤️
This place is FIRE! Like the thought and meticulous detail of everything right down to the design is amazing! What a shame to destroy that.
STUNNING!!! I can't imagine it being abandoned. Such a tragedy that it will be demolished
Hello how are you doing, hope you are good and staying?..
The iPads in the walls are actually a Crestron system, it’s home automation, look it up, it’s amazing kit 👍🏻
Out of all the abandoned mansions, I like this one the best
The house looks to have a well thought out passive solar design. It would be interesting to know who the architect was, which may have an effect on value, and its unique design may add more value if restored and updated, rather than demolishing it, so as to put a few more houses in an area that does not appear to have a land shortage.
I’d LOVE to know who the architect was!!
@@SaraBellum777 his name was Norman jaffe. He is pretty famous. I find it hard to believe this house will be demolished. I hope he is mistaken. Most of the houses he built in the Hampton have been restored and are very sought after.
@@BusterMSC1 Thanks for naming the Architect - he has an interesting body of work.
When a house has a multi room bathroom with an upstairs and a downstairs and it's own staircase, you are definitely rolling In money. Either that, or you are REALLY into bathrooms. To bad it's getting demolished, I would love a 2 story bathroom with its own staircase😁
Hello how are you doing, hope you are good and staying?....
I can’t even imagine living like this. This is a pretty cool find for sure.
Who ever built that house, was very smart with that basement. Excellent work, smart inside plumbing, heating all located in a great dry place.
So true for other mansion the plumbing and heating seems like an after thought placement. To the point when you enter the housing room, things are all over the place.
Amazing house!!! The pool is to die for! Love it. Shame being demolished. Great explore! 🥰🥰🥰
I think that "entertainment room" off to the side of the master was just that. They're rich so it was probably an extra living room for the master as opposed to having the TV and entertainment in the bedroom
If you dive in you probably will die of a broken neck.
@@keithbstar1 haha 😂
Holy cow! This place is amazing!!! So many beautiful things in this house!
Dang, I sure hope they don’t tear it down!
Thank you for such a great find!
This abandoned place is incredible & the ceiling in the pool area is gorgeous & sauna & the floor plan is amazing
Why would this amazing home be destroyed? It's a damn shame!!
Hello how are you doing....Hope you are having a perfect time over there.❤💖❣💞.
Peace! ☮️
Also, I have seen a few of your explorations with your wife. You two are such a lovely couple. I saw your video on the Viking town(Iceland), and I wanted to wish you and your wife, a very Happy 🥂 Anniversary. May the best years be ahead of you. Stay blessed! 🌞
The lay out maybe somewhat contemporary but the decorations and finishes not so much
Absolutely beautiful. Please keep finding these hidden gems. It's unbelievable how these millionaires live.
The pool is the star attraction. Empty pools give me the creeps but this one is a work of art.
Thanks for the tour
Empty pools have always given me the creeps. I used to have nightmares about empty pools when I was a kid.
Qual a localização?
It's the Milton Gilbert house, look it up, it has an interesting story that I wish this UA-camr would spend a minute looking it up and sharing. Alpine NY.
@GAK they don't share it because they are respectful of the property and don't want others to go there and trash the place and take what is left
You never showed us where those spiral stairs led to! I am dying to know. Staircases are my favorite part of a house. Please let us see where all the stairs go ( as long as they are safe of course). Especially the back and enclosed stairs. Thank you so much!
Definitely need to know about the spiral staircase!!!
I wanted to know also!!!
I wanna know what’s down there. Please go back!!
Im here for this comment.
Thought I was the only one wondering THAT!
First off, I’d like to thank you for being very considerate and respectful how you treat every building that you show us. You’d think that in the pool area that the windows would open to bring the outdoor’s in.
I agree this Mansion is extremely unique and should not be destroyed one of the best I've seen I absolutely love this this is awesome awesome
What an incredible home! Retro design is so on point today!! Love it. Thank you for the superb presentation!
I loved the whole house, in my mind I can't fathom why anyone in their right mind would want to tear it down. I would be living in it or find someone to rent it to. Loved it!!!
Probably one of my fave explorations you have done.
Thank you from LONDON UK🇬🇧🥰
Very FLW feel, I love it!
The pool and the room’s ceiling, tile circle floor in kitchen and swan golden fixtures are my favorites. But all is incredible. Thank you, BigBankz for showing!wow 😮
This is one of the top three explores that I love. Such an incredible exploration
Beautiful architecture and details! I hope they decide not to demolish it because it would be wonderful as a resort or retreat, even a winery with all the land.
Texas! agrees!
I agree with you!
Hopefully it’ll be saved!!
Maybe a nice restaurant and club.
@@KB-ke3fi Retirement home with garden.
The house deserves to be renovated and updated.
This has been my favorite abandoned mansion so far! I truly hope they restore instead of rebuilding. I'm in absolute love with this location❤️ BTW I'm watching from the super small town of Forest City in Rutherford County North Carolina!! I bet you don't come down to these parts huh?
I loved the master bedroom and the bathroom with the steps . Unbelievable. And the pool area was off the chain
This is definitely 1980s not 90s Maybe it was added onto at some point. It’s very ugly. Very commercial looking.
I'd dismantle the whole thing and sell the parts.
I'd just buy it outright... There's still some of us who like this style of decor hahaha
If I bought it I'd fill up the pool and make that the banquet hall and turn the whole place into a wedding venue.
@@bettermost only the interiors, the haus is mid century late fifties early sixtues and a stunner.

Such a shame that they don't want to re-purpose what is there! Why tear it down?
Gaining then maintaining wealth doesn't always end well...
I do believe the last room with the downgraded bathroom was the maid's quarters, with easy access to the laundry area. What a spectacular house. I always envision what it must have been like when it was filled with a family. Love your videos :)
I was thinking the same thing.
Big houses are so interesting but so wildly impractical! We had a decent sized house and I remember thinking, how many places do I need to sit!
What's impractical abt it
I don’t like mansions. I liked my parent’s almost mansion as a teen just because I could hide away in the house somewhere and I felt like I was in my own place. But being a mom now I feel safer in a smaller home.
I am in love with the wood ceilings. I hope they don't demolish it.
Those cedar ceilings in the pool area and sauna (or some type of bougie wood) are insane. Immense waste of beautiful materials 😔 Great vlog!
What a beautiful place. I wish I could own and do it up. Simply stunning
Hello how are you doing....Hope you are having a perfect time over there.❤💖❣💞
The house is surprisingly sound and only needs a bit of maintenance to get it into shape again because it is already in decent condition. It would be a shame to tear down such a nice house, especially since it has survived for so long.
I’d love to see what’s down that spiral staircase in the woman’s master closet! This house is amazing! So beautiful! I hope they don’t tear it down!
This house is beautiful-thank you for videoing this-my hope is that it was not destroyed-love the chandelier. Just gorgeous
Yeah I can immagine too. Lovely planimetry a shame it's empty.
The woodwork in that pool room is amazing!
Yeah I was kinda blown away
How they kept that wood from rotting with all that pool humidity is a mystery.
Going exploring with you is on my bucket list. ❤️

I love when they still have the power on! It keeps it from rotting down. I would hate to see this place rot.
I'm having a hard time understanding the decision to put the bedrooms right next to an indoor pool. Even if it's salt water, to avoid the chlorine smell, you'd still have to contend with the moisture getting into the rugs and furniture.
I love this house! It’s beautiful!! It’s a shame they are going to demolish it.
