My two gripes with Nikon NX Studio. (issues I hope Nikon fixes)
    1. Unlike Capture NX-D (and earlier versions of Nikon Capture) If you make adjustments in NX Studio and then open that photo in Photoshop directly from Studio, your adjustments are ignored, Studio instead opens Photoshop’s RAW editor as if you didn't make any changes in Studio. I don’t want to use PS’s RAW editor, that’s why I am using NX Studio's adjustments that Nikon customizes for my camera. Please make it work like Nikon Capture.
    2. If you make a change with stars and/or color ratings to a NEF+jpeg or just a jpeg file, it re-saves the jpeg as a smaller, more compressed jpeg! ?????
It does the same thing when writing or changing the IPTC caption.
    For just typing text? Why?!?!?
It’s great that you can now edit the caption information . . . why does it drastically rewrite the jpeg? Photo Mechanic has no problem making those changes without rewriting the jpeg, please learn what they did.

I'll be sticking with ON1 and Lightroom as my primary editing apps. But I will add this to my bag of tricks as this will give me something that none of the other editors give me, and that is the focus point. It is always helpful to know where the camera's focus point was at the time the image was made. This helps me troubleshoot an image when it didn't quite come out right. Decent review.

I've never heard of ON1 till your comment, I really like the look of it! Might have to make another video about that! I like how it's a mix of lightroom and photoshop!

ON1 works the way a photographer thinks. If we need to enhance or change an scene, we apply a filter. ON1 uses similar terminology. I’ve been shooting for 40+ years, and it makes more sense to me than the Adobe products

The UI looks like that because it's what Nikon's other editing software's have looked like. They wanted continuity between the programs

A heavy user of the capture nx-d here. I really wanted to like the NX studio, but the app is so buggy man. simply switching to next photo after editing it, will make it forget the adjustment i just made. That is just lame. And exporting photos has a bug too, sometimes its possible, sometimes its not possible to change the dimensions of the photos to be exported. That really sucks. Nikon must get it fixed asap.

Thanks for the input from a NX-D user! I agree, it seems crazy they'd release this with so many bugs...

Just tried NX Studios on a MBP M1 Pro, too much time to load, clunky interface. NOt ready for prime time; yet.
