  • Hello everyone!
I just came back from Fukuoka (yes, again hehe) It wasn't in my plans to visit Yamamoto Bumpodo since there weren't a lot of things there last March. But I went anyway. I'm glad that I did because I chanced upon the launch of Holbein Granulating Watercolors and Kusakabe Single Pigments. Both are not yet available online so I'm really happy that I found it in a physical shop.
I hope you'll enjoy this video.

Kudos to you for buying what you really want and like... coz when i see an art shop because i run everywhere like a maniac, and when i saw the first art shop in my area, i went overboard and bought a few, which i regretted later on. I'm working on my way to calm down when i see watercolours.
Usually, we distract our kids when we come across a toy shop. Now, my husband was like "wow look at this side. The wall paintings looks pretty, look at the ceiling".. i didn't realize until he told me later on that he was trying to distract me from an art shop 😅😂

My husband will just be like "Nooo you don't need more art supplies 🤨" but then turn around and use art supplies as bribery when he wants to buy something 😂 Like "Pleease, I'll give you an allowance for your art supplies 🥺". And I always just respond with "I don't need anymore art supplies" 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly, I don't, and I've done really well not giving into the temptation of buying things I want to try out; like a full set of Neocolour II.. Luckily for him he's helped me break out of the habit of buying whatever I want hahah But unlucky for him he can't use art supplies as a way to buy something expensive for himself 😉

Maybe I missed it but what are granulating watercolors vs normal watercolors in tubes?

Some pigments like ultramarine or cobalts granulate which creates texture and so some brands like Schminke came out with supergranulating paints by mixing colors that granulate together to create not only super granulating but the pigments can fight and separate creating a beautiful and very distinctive colors inside the painting depending on how much water you use. If you want them to look like normal watercolor you can just paint like normal. But for ones like the new kuretake granulating colors if you use a lot of water then let it sit a bit before you paint it...will separate into these gorgeous aurora colors.
Hope this helps at least a little. There are some really good tutorials showing how to really get the new kuretake paints to separate out there so you can see what I'm talking about. And if you have watercolors you can try to mixing granulating paints together to create some of the mixes these companies use. I know I have!😂

That’s strange , you shouldn’t get stains on ceramic palettes unless they were not manufactured properly. I clean all my cheap ceramic palettes with just water and they look brand new.

I recently got stains from using Dr.Ph Martin concentrated watercolors 😅

@JolyPoa ohh because they use dyes. Good to know, I won't use mine on ceramic, I typically just use it on plastic
