When hoarders did an update Randy no longer hoarded, he was going through therapy and his job was saved, and his supervisor still remain friends. He has rebuilt his relationship with his family and friends.
😢 it made me tear up when he first opened the door and she said oh Randy how could you let yourself go like this. I could feel her emotion and sympathy for him.
Thought the same thing - she just cared, deeply, and wanted to help him so badly. You could tell how much that meant to Randy. So many people would not have wanted to help him.
I mean she’s amazing for sure but it also speaks to how great he is as he is obviously loveable and worth caring for or she wouldn’t care or bother…so both of them are special.
She isnt even ínside yet and she's already crying for him. She's got a heart of gold man, he's lucky to have a friend like that, and i hope he keeps it together, looks like a loving grandpa-type of dude
I think that can be *partially* true in some cases. My mother was clinically depressed for all of my teenage and adult life. But she was not a hoarder nor was she "lazy";. instead, she was well known as a _clean freak_ , and she spent 6 to 8 hours every single day cleaning the house. I think that, for her, the constant cleaning gave her some kind of feeling of being in control -- like, in a sense, she was not in control the depression. It was in control of her, except being able to ferociously clean. Having a house that was immaculate just happened to be a side effect. I equate it to an anorexic -- They also feel out of control in every aspect of their lives, *bit* they can control how much food they *allow* their bodies with their side effect being weight loss. As to your comment-- I think that sometimes the environment we live in is shaped by our psychological state, but just as equally our environment state is shaped by our psychological state.
I'm so proud of him!!! Cleaning out his apartment was a huge step, and he didn't breakdown during the cleaning like most hoarders, he remained strong. It brought tears to my eyes because he's such a sweet man, and I know what it's like to live with a mental illness. It's horrible to say the least. I hope this man is able to overcome his hoarding and live a happy life
Seems like a lovely man, its nice to see people in the comments not judging him on his living situation. Hope he is doing well and has a comfortable home
idk if anyone will ever read this but I'm 25 and I'm a hoarder. I wouldn't be surprised if this was my house in 30-40 years. Watching these motivates me to clean out the existing hoard that I have, but it's really difficult....thanks for reading.
Oh dear you can do it. Please never ever let it become near this. You can do this. Ask for help. I'm sure lots of people love you. God you bless you dear. Praying for you. ♥️
Recognizing that you have a problem is such an important step. So many hoarders can't even see that about themselves. I too have the hoarding urge. Watching these shows helps a lot. Now I can recognize the self talk that encourages me to keep way too much stuff. You might try that too, to see if it helps. Good luck!!
There needs to be acceptance by society at large that this is caused by a mental illness. Often starts with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and escalates into true fear of having your stuff disposed of. This illness needs funding. There must be thousands of these sufferers. I hope Randy finds a way out.
I'm wondering from time to time if there are any hoarders in my apartment building. It's just nine floors and fairly new ( finished construction in late 2014, when I moved in. At the front of the building with wide living room windows facing the street, I can observe things having been pilled up against two or three of the windows higgledy-piggledy. And seemingly permanently. Alarm bells start ringing!
@@withpeacelove366i’m way late to this convo but i just wanted to add that although it’s not a compulsive disorder it is very much an obsessive disorder
Ive had hoarding phases, and it always amazes me when things get to the climbing level, where theres just no floor at all... I usually go thru n start cleaning when i get down to a pathway. I understand the depression makes u not wanna do anything tho😩 ive only done this at super depressed times in my life
It's not something you plan. It's a symptom of depression. It just spirals out of control and then you're too overwhelmed to do anything about it. Too embarrassed also.
Hoarding is a very complex condition. There are many reasons why people end up in this situation, they need patience, help, gentle persuasion and no judgement.
The landlord also has damage to work deal with.. Three dumpsters full of garbage weights a lot and can do structural damage. Also the vermin and insects that could migrate to other parts of the building. Can you imagine the fire danger he put other tenants in.
Everyone is giving Cathy so much credit, and she absolutely deserves it, but so does Randy. He’s clearly a sweet and kind person whic( is why he has such good people caring for him and he was so committed to the process and didn’t fight it or become abusive. What a special guy…I hope he is able to maintain the positive changes because he too deserves it.
I can totally relate to the way he barely fits and can't turn over when he lays the blanket down to sleep. It's exactly how I feel when my dog lays sideways in the bed.
OK...SO HOW DID HE USE THE RESTROOM AND COOK? UH...WHERE DID HE BATHE/USE THE RESTROOM?🤦 THAT'S RIGHT HE SMELLED, BUT HELL, HE STILL HAD TO GO TO THE POTTY.🤔🤷 THIS IS TOO CRAZY!!! HOPE HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE.🙏
Randy had it so much better. He was actually prepared to get rid of stuff. Sure, he kept a bit still, but most others don't want to give up anything. He did good all things considered. :)
Anyone know how Randy is doing now? And Cathy for that matter? I’ve seen probably every episode of every Hoarder show, but I think about Randy often. I hope he’s doing well.
I've watched a few of these videos and noticed something. There're these relatively lonely people that would invite their neighbor/acquaintances/family over for the show. There are only two types of reactions most of the time 1) *tears* Oh dear... How could you let this happen to yourself? You are better than this. You deserve better! (out of love, empathy and frustration) 2) Damn.. this is just disgusting (mostly from family - out of love, shame, and frustration). Sometimes, a family that lived/lives with the hoarder doesn't blame... which is heartbreaking. Shame comes from ego. Let's switch our shame with empathy - to ourselves and others. Maybe the world will be less angry
I hope his sister's help him repaint and get new carpet and some new furniture. Ya it's cleaned out. But now it needs to actually be made back into a HOME
Sadly this looks very much like what my 19 year old son left behind in my house when he left. I cleaned up the trash on the ground and had it bagged waiting to take it out because the garbage can was already full...he came back to get his things and ripped open the bags and spread them all over the floor again. I would love to think he just wanted to keep it except I know for a fact he only does it because he knows I hate the disgusting garbage. Thankfully he won't be coming back and I'm going to finally have a clean home again. I like things neat and clean. I think when it comes to hoarding there are many reasons why people do it but in his case it was pure spite. He even left his dog. I'll take care of it, but it was just wrong to do. At least I can be thankful that his room was a former detached garage before renovation so I'm not literally living with it, but I hate that I have to clean that up.
That's the worse thing you can do. It can make hoarding worse and they could actually have a physcotic break or breakdown because of it. They have to be there during the clean up to be able to get better.
This remind of my aunt. Yeah, this hoarding disorder is real and weird. My aunt was a normal nice person before. Maybe after the death of my uncle or other reasons that I don't know, I never see her for a while then when I visit her again, her house is so full, mountain of garbage and other stuff that she collected outside. We tried to help her clean sometimes, but she just couldn't help it and keeps hoarding. It's sad.
The amount of people in the comments that require hoarders to be "pleasant" or "understanding" just to receive any empathy or sympathy is exhausting. Mental illness isn't fun for anyone involved, nor does someone having a bad reaction or a meltdown mean they're less worthy of help and therapy.
When hoarders did an update Randy no longer hoarded, he was going through therapy and his job was saved, and his supervisor still remain friends. He has rebuilt his relationship with his family and friends.
That's so good to hear❤️
It’s always wonderful to hear a happy end in their cases
Thats awesome
fantastic such a lovely ending
Thanks for update.
Usually hoarders get very upset when its time to clean their houses but randy did a super good job staying cool and making decisions.
IT WAS MOSTLY TRASH...NUTHN TO BICKER OVER.🤷
And he actually helped instead of sitting in a corner crying and feeling horrible for himself!
No selfish vibe from Randy whatsoever.
@VAULT865 for hoarders that's not trash you don't understand the pathology clearly
..
Cathy is so kind
Kevin thumbs up!

It’s great that Randy was able to throw so much away without complaining and Cathy is a real friend. I hope they’re all well tbh
It's because he was ready, not all hoarders are ready

He's a major hoarder but he's a nice pleasant man (unlike many hoarders) and I hope he keeps the new place clutter free.

If you dont have a family member with this compulsion its hard to understand how you might respond to their behaviors.
He seems like such a kind person and so does his friend and I hope he gets all the help he needs to improve his life.
People need more people like Cathy who'll be straight up with them in their lives.
Hoarders need therapy, otherwise they will continue to fill whatever clean space they are provided or move into.
he seems like a nice dude wtf happened

This brings back memories I wish to forget. My mom was a hoarder and one of my brothers is showing signs of being one.

I pray Cathy gives him a second chance. He needs the support of family and friends. He is a good guy.

I'm not sure hoarding is a type of OCD though because theres no compulsive action associated with hoarding, it's a lack of action.
