Now I really want to change all my social media to something like The Great Absorbino or The Gentle Blob. Wait.... that sounds disturbing. Definitely don't want The Abzorbaloff. Maybe something more super hero, with the X-Men coming to mind first because, well, that's us. Rogue! She absorbs! And it fits me gender-wise also! But.... I'm not as cool or attractive so that might be false advertising. Well then. I guess I'll just stick with what I have. Love the concept though!
I have Anorchia. I was assigned Male at birth and now I'm 22 year old woman. I was never introduced to the term Intersex. I've discovered that recently thanks to the internet and it's helped me on feeling part of a community. Love your videos.
intersex is a new term for me too. its tough for people to grasp but its your call. parents always screwed it up. dad demanded...make baby a boy. so wrong. retired nurse 35 yrs.
I met a intersex in Basic. This was back when if you had functioning penis, you got drafted. I don't see how the MD did not see 'he' did not belong there. But the DI and the CO did and 'he' was sent off for evaluation for discharge. 'He' would have never made it as a ground pounder. I don't think 'he' was gay. I just don't think 'he' was interested one way or another. AS for the US Army experience the lucky in that respect person did get that fine and wonderful experience. You know the one I would skip if given a choice. College was a lot easier. Been many years since and I still can't grasp what gay is for. It was better when gay just meant you were happy. BUT I also was raised on traditional 19th century food without the benefit of chemistry. I guess "Better living through chemistry" was better for the vendor than the end user. When I was still in grade school Diabetes was a rare thing. Dying Trees is minor compared to what we do to our selves. ua-cam.com/video/fLcARCchFsw/v-deo.html
This was a great video, and your explanations are great. I've never seen someone define intersex and intersex body types in such a neutral, nonstigmatizing, and easily understood way.
This video was amazingly validating to me! I have PCOS and started puberty way earlier than my peers. Growing up I felt like I was ugly and freakish, had doctors and people push on me ideas about what my body should or should not look like. As I'm growing older and going to therapy, having to look back at my life and who I am is hard when you have people on all sides also trying to make this decisions for you. I deeply appreciate having encountered your videos. It feels like I have found a safe corner in the internet.
You introduced this issue with EXCELLENT grasp of the knowledge and science, more than I have ever known as a nurse. Your way of explaining was easy to follow. Good job!
Hans, keep up the great work. I appreciate this public service. Just a tip, if you could display some of the printed material/graphics a few seconds longer, it would help us to read it. The information is terrific.
One can also become a chimera after a transplant, where transplanted material may migrate through the body. I'm not saying that it affects sexual development, just that such a person should be aware the DNA tests may give confusing results. This and androgen resistance were two disorders among the many featuring on the tv show House.
Yay, you mentioned PCOS which I have ♥ I'm lucky, that the german intersex community is very kind and open to people with hormonal intersex variations, but I'm still a bit shy about using that term for me (that seems to be a struggle for a lot of people with similar conditions). My mother has PCOS too and even had surgery on the surface of her ovaries so they produce less testosterone. Of course she has no idea what intersex or PCOS is and I'm the one now who show her all the things and definitions. So thank you for mentioning PCOS. ♥
Thank you for the video. I really didn’t know much about intersex people but I’m starting to do more research and educate myself, and this video really helped!
Hi, I've just discovered your videos and watched the 2 parts. I have a question ... if someone is 'completely' female phyically but with a higher testosterone level, strength and small amounts of course chin hair, would/could that be classed as intersex? Thanks for an amazingly informative and understandable explanation of what it is to be intersex :-)
Thanks Karen! It's a very broad spectrum, so sure. It's an umbrella term that describes a wide range of experiences, including with such hormonal differences. I'd recommend my video on PCOS that might answer this question.
The word " spectrum" and umbrella terms are just bullshit..men think they are women and women who think they are male..y'all are confused and confuse everyone else when y'all try to explain what y'all are..but can't give an answer on " what is a women". ?? That's the hardest question to yall
It would require more investigation. You might not have XX chromosomes etc. or could even have internal testicles etc. you could even by XXY or the like as well
Truly appreciate you and your videos and putting out awareness. I was Born Intersex, my mother was supposed to have fraternal twins boy and girl. Before the two embryos could form into two babies. The chromosomes fused together and made me. When I was born into this world I was born with a vagina an enlarged clitoris, fallopian tubes, a uterus, and testicles. I have menstrual cycles. I'm a man on the outside and a woman on the inside. #krispheonix
What if you have fully functioning (as fas as I know) male gonads, but appear to have hormonal issues that has left one with underdeveloped feminine breasts and an androgynous voice and appearance, but with plenty of facial hair?
There's another one but it doesn't show up in genitals but the urinary tract system where they have double everything. Double uterus, double ureters on one or both kidneys, a bicameral uterus etc
Thanks for your educational and humorous videos, including teaching me how to pronounce the word "chimera". PS: I'm a twin and very happy I did not absorb my twin.
Do you ever get back to your comments. Thank you for your videos I'm am a hermaphrodite with no support what so ever. Been watching some of your videos. I like them and think you have a wonderful sense of humor God bless you.
Is it possible for an intersex person to have a body that is a complete fusion of a conventionally male and female body, to the point where they also have both male and female features and genitalia that are fully developed and functional? Is it the rarest form of intersex?
I Thank you. You are smart, informative and entertaining. Go ahead school the world they to hear you. I know people from different spectrums. U explain it Best
Not sure what you mean by 'female?' But hypospadias if the urethra opens in a different place, of course. As mentioned in the video, it's a residual part of sex differentiation and people can experience a lot of social stigma.
Intersex here. I have uterus and ovaries along with twig n berries. I took testosterone for years because my dad shamed me as abnormal. I had to recently stop taking Testosterone and am going back to "Me" ....should done this years ago.
So, question/help. I am not obese. Under normal conditions I have an inny vs an outy....until I get excited. Then it becomes modest but normal. Notably I also have very small wrists. I was 13 the last time I met someone new and the first thing they asked me wasn't, are you a boy or a girl. In your opinion, am I intersex of some sort.
As a intersex person myself my body failed to fully develop as a male during the germ cell phase of sexual development. As a result my right testis remained as a fetal gonad. As an adult this developed into stage three testicual=ovarian cancer. In other words a ovotestis but only on the right side of my body.. The left testis did develop as a testis but only grew to about half of normal size. In addition I also had at least four germ cell teratoma that ranged in size from 10 to 17.5 cm in size. The largest of which was removed at the Mayo Clinic during a six hour surgery. This particular teratoma had limbs, eyes, skin etc. Sort of fetal tissue. this was removed when I was forty five years old. Isn't being intersex fun. Oh one more thing my doctor also suggested I have a mild from of AIS androgen insensitivity syndrome. I really don't know for sure. I was raised male but deal with gender dysphoria, go figure. I have several surgeries done to me as a child of ten, but do not know exactly what was done during these surgeries.
I had the rare misfortune to have 2 intersex disorders. I was born with XXY chromosomes and Partial Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (PAIS). I was born as an underdeveloped male and assigned as male. I didn't find out until I was 21 and was denied entry into the Air Force because I wasn't strong enough. I was given testosterone supplements to complete the male puberty. It worked for a while and then it became apparent that it wasn't. The testosterone wasn't being absorbed and was being converted to estrogen. I went through puberty twice, once as male and once as an underdeveloped female. My second X chromosome is active. While I outwardly look male, internally I am more female. I feel like a mixture of both sexes. After much soul searching, I am comfortable being intersex. But I am still a human being first and demand to be treated as such. I don't mind being an it but is easier to identify male.
No matter what these people developed into, they are just people with a difference...I am not sure where the person who presented this video lies nor how she or he identifies...no one really needs anyone's approval as they are happy and content.
My first bf had a hydrospadious penis, he had two working urethra tubes in his penis and two holes in the tip, one on top of the other. It was the first penis I ever saw so I didn't know that was abnormal until several years into our relationship. He thought everyone had two holes so urine could come out one and semen the other. I mean, it makes sense because girls have separate holes for reproduction and urination so it didn't seem weird to me until I saw a diagram of a male urethra and was very confused.

Can’t answer for the video creator specifically, but for every intersex person it will vary, you’re better off asking individuals what their personal pronouns are
I'm the age in which is referred to as BOOMER'S. And as such grew up with the knowledge and vocabulary when it came to sexuality not gender. There was a variety. There were only "A-sexual's, Bi-sexual's, Homo-sexual's and Hetero-sexual's. I never could figure out how no one would care in any way shape or form not to any degree, likeing sex, so the A-sexual's were and still are a mystery to me. Male's prefering sex with other male's or female's prefering sex with other female's, I some how understood. In as much as I became sexual during the Hippy Era. I learned that of all the varieties the Bi-sexual had it the best. Howerver if and when push came to shove, regardless of their gender, they did have a ever so slight preference. As I stated earlier, I'm a BOOMER, and with all the new pronoun's envoved in one's determination of their personal gender; Which apparently now number well over 75. Sure am glad I lived during an era when there were far less choices, meaning only two gender's, in which both were subject to having their own personal; sexual preference's. Today at the age of 75, though my mind is willing, my body won't respond, thus one's personal sexual preference any more become's a moot point. But then I still believe there are but two gender's. A pronoun can not exist, without their first being a noun in which it's associated with. Thus I don't utilze pronoun when it comes to gender, only the noun's. Which take's presidence over any and all possible pronoun's past, present and future.
Is it acceptable to want a romantic relationship from an intersex person to fill the female role in the relationship? I have had lots of thoughts about it and will be glad to try such rellations if it will not offend my partner….
one ovary and one testis here the reason i changed clothes for p.e. once and they laughed at my female shaped body and i never did it again hence failing every single p.e. class ever
*takes out glasses case* *Takes old gold wire frame glasses* *Unfolds them* *Gently puts them on* *Pops a Werther's original* "An asexual is someone who's not really intersex"
Don't mess with intersex people unless you want to be ABSORBED xD

They can often use pcos for way to not get into detail of your condition so make sure you get ultrasound and blood work.
I call myself semiintersex, cus I have PCOS in like 85% of my gonads that are ovarian and the rest is more like testes :D
i Love how you start each video with "hi hello i'm hans" it's Very Good

No

This information about chimaeras.
When I was pregnant, another woman asked the midwife that she was pregnant with twins. But all of a sudden, one child is not there anymore.
She wants to know where her child is gone.
Where is it?
The midwife said that this has been observed ever since ultrasound was invented.
(since 1970s)
But no one knows where the child disappears.
Therefore, it is assumed that the uterine wall absorbs it.
I don't know if this phenomenon is also chimeras.
Because there is a heart and a head and if that is absorbed by the other fetus then these cells would have to transform into other regions.
I just thought about that mother who wanted to know where it went.
Is hypogonadism intersex?
YES
thank you!!

I have long suspected these incidents are caused by chemicals in our food, in the air, maybe even the plastics in our clothing, furniture, autos, etc. Maybe even the stuff in our cook ware? Teflon has been called into suspicion.
If any of that interferes with the development of the fetus by causing an imbalance of hormones, it is possible to have developmental inaccuracies.
