Pokémon is literally THE most profitable franchise of ANY media, by a LARGE margin. Pokémon is a bigger name than Mickey Mouse and his empire. They have 0 excuse to not invest money on their games.
I wouldn't say Gamefreak should be ashamed... They've won. They make massive bucks no matter how shit or broken the stuff they release are. It's like an Infinite Money Glitch IRL. If anything they should be proud of sucessfuly getting this far. The ones who should be ashamed should be the consumers for letting them get away with it for so long that they became immune and can no longer be stopped. I'm not even shilling, i'm just being real here.
A lot of those sales could be pre orders, but during those three days not everyone experienced the glitches, plus people are demanding refunds right now and Nintendo had to respond. They could sell a lot, but that doesn't mean the game ended being a quality flop

people will still buy and protect it, so why even put in more work.. i dont even play pokemon cuz i dont have anything nintendo related, but this shit is just the modern game industry in a nutshell and it wont change cuz people wont stop
I didn’t experience any of the massive issues so I can’t really relate Edit: I should say I’ve completed the game, so it’s not like I’ve only played 5 minutes or something tiny
@@Snoebal I did, I didn’t know they where more common to mobile. Sorry, i genuinely didn’t know that haha. If I could be bothered I’d play it again on docked to see but I genuinely can’t be bothered lol.
Gamefreak could make a literal mobile game tier mainline installment and it would still make its money back. And the next two at least. For now, they still seem to be trying a bit more than that, so I don't think it will ever need to improve substantially to keep up. Too big to fail.
Scarlet & Violet are mobile game tier games, watching the videos I could confidently say that my phone could run it. Maybe just drop the resolution a bit and cut the render distance down a little.
GameFreak as a game studio is years behind in programming expertise, unable to replicate things other developers have been accomplishing for decades. I had the most fun playing this Pokémon than any other since my childhood, but I cannot in good faith recommend any one I speak to purchasing it due to GameFreaks practises or lack thereof.
@@mrconroy4672 in my opinion, this gen has offered some of the best character/Pokémon designs, story, dialogue, and music in the entire series, it’s just everything else that’s holding it back.
exactly. they've built up so much of a solid foundation with the ideas they're bringing to the pokemon formula and dumping shit all over it anyways because of the rate they produce games
I wouldn't say Game Freak are behind at all. They just have so little time to make stuff that it ends up being half-baked and that's mainly due to upper management. Like 3d mainline Mario usually has like 5 yrs between every release to make those games as good as possible. Pokèmon gets half that time to make a full rpg and since the Switch is nothing like and more demanding than the consoles they developed for prior. Yikes...
Im so happy you mention how most of the sales are from people who don't use social media much. You could convince Twitter and Reddit to not buy the games but it's impossible to convince the parents from buying the games for there kids for Christmas which it's most of the sales come from.
There have been 4 big Pokémon games that have released. Pokémon snap, sword and shield, Arceus, and scarlet and violet. And in my opinion, snap and arceus have been the best
This is also why indie games are better than ever now, AAA game companies can push out poopoo games and they'll sell, while indie games have to somehow get noticed in this huge sea of games, which can be achieved by either making a really good game, or through a publisher, which will only publish your game if it's good enough.
Indies aren't much better. For every really great indie, there are hundreds of really bottom of the barrel stuff. I still look forward some indies though and glad there is space for different kinds of games.
to be fair I doubt indie games would sell if they were made by AAA devs, they get to do whatever they want whenever they want and make it work and generally have more freedoms than big corporations would that and I feel indies are generally not reviewed nearly as hard as big titles are, somehow I feel like they can get away with more
The thing that annoys me the most out of this is how people think giving Gamefreak stronger hardware will somehow fix the series when just a couple years ago people were complaining about the games still being on 3ds while the switch was out They had the potential to make something great when moving over to the switch but they never did and it's so blantently obvious that more powerful hardware won't change anything
There are quite a few people that thought Sword and Shield were great, you've got to look outside of this hyper critical bubble. The opinion of the people commenting on these YT videos are not the majority opinion, clearly.
@@FlameHAZE2010 I'm well aware that casual audiences liked the switch games and there's nothing wrong with that but that shouldn't take away from the criticism people have especially when you consider the quality of other AAA games on the switch
@@FlameHAZE2010 Because people all went out and bought the game day 1 and got disappointed, this argument is so flawed. Did all 10 million enjoy the game? Everyone I've talked to is disappointed. And Nintendo gave out refunds too if you asked for it which they rarely do. So yes. The majority does not like it. Keep bootlicking.
Though this’ll be buried, imma say this. People love Pokémon, I love Pokémon. Others love it so much they just want more of it no matter what shape or form it come in. I loved the idea of getting to choose what I wanted to do, but the absolute buggy state of the game, the lack of unique, off the path places to explore and forgettable team star really put a damper on the experience for me. I can say these things again and again, but the amount of man-child fanboys telling people to shut up, ‘get better hardware’ or don’t buy will just drown it out. As long as people are willing to blindly defend something, said thing will never get better.
@@abrahamcoronelbeltran6033 Maybe, but with love comes understanding, and through criticizing the games when they’re at a bad point, the community, when United, can make a change for the better. If what I have for the games is love, then the overly devoted fans are simps.
The fact that these games came out at this kind of state and still managed to not only outsale great games (in my opinion) that came out not too long ago like Kirby and the forgotten land, Pokémon legends arceus, etc. but also managed to get the most amount of purchases ever in Nintendo’s history just makes me sad. Really really sad.
The point is a little different: the Pokemon franchise does not rely on games (Scarlet/Violet and Red/Blue are bold exceptions) on merch. Almost in many ways, games are created to make more merch and anime. Therefore, now there are Pokemon that strongly resemble animals and other toys, like Flamigo and Ceruledge. But we have 10 million or more people who didn’t even want to watch on public opinion and they buy the game, and then they say that the game is crap
Cool to see foekoe recommend shin megami tensei 5. It's really fun and does turn based exploration gameplay really really well. The only bad part was the dissapointing story but tbh even it's story is better than any pokemon story. Also unlike pokemon the devs care enough about qol to add an animation skip button that instantly skips a battle animation when you press A and also have full cutscene skip options including text box cutscenes as well as a fast forward text option.
@@Cringe89563 ye i guess so but there's no point in letting a few bad elitists ruining ur enjoyment of an otherwise great series. @xid what? The best thing about smt is the gatekeeping? What da hell are u talkin about? The best thing about smt is its impressive worldbuilding and thick atmosphere, not a bunch of elitists
I'd say it's moreso a case of The Pokèmon Company International (TPCi) along with any higher ups at Nintendo and Game Freak still wanting these games to be yearly, so as a result. Game Freak's devs are basically stuck making yearly games, even though it's causing the series a ton of harm from a quality standpoint as developing a Switch game is a huge jump from developing a GB, GBA, DS or 3DS title. Their devs clearly care but like, you're obviously not gonna make a quality title with so little development time and tight deadlines. Unfortunately though the mainline titles still sell like hotcakes, so those higher ups at all parties probably aren't gonna change their minds anytime :/
I think that another problem is for some reason MOST of the employes in GameFreak AREN'T programmers and the history of programming in this franchise is a mess. Probably why the games are such a mess even more with 1 year for games.
Tf you guys are smoking? The pokemon company are the ones who manages the merch rights, they cant do shit and more giving deadlines to gamefreak, gamefreak are the ones who put those deadlines
@@pwispa9532 the pokemon franchise is divided by 4 parties, the pokemon company international that has the 1% and manages the merch rights of pokemon ( they cant do shit ), nintendo with 33% who publish the games, creatures with 33% who does the card games more like scratching their ass and gamefreak with 33%, total creativy of what shit game to do and when release it
It’s mostly because the fans really, *really* defend it. It’s weird, I’d expect out of anyone, they’d be the ones to be complaining the most, but… I guess not? Where did all the people who recognized X and Y was mediocre? What happened to them?
Nah it’s mostly because the majority of people buying the games aren’t the same people who go online to voice there complaints. If there are 2 million people complaining about the game online then the remaining 8 million are those that don’t delve into online discourse are just buying it cause they want to. Whether they care about the performance or not.
Most Pokémon fans these days have only played the more recent titles. All the fans that have complained in the past about the decrease in quality are just no longer around to help combat the people that are praising the modern games because they realize it's not gonna change anything for the better.
You underestimate casual gamers and overestimate the people who spend their time online making complaints. Pokemon will make millions on the sole fact that it's pokemon. The hard-core fans can boycott the game and it'll still do fine.
Being conditioned to accept less then mediocrity is the saddest state of modern gamers. I’m convinced majority of adult Pokémon fans are just autistic man children who will never grow up. Keep buying Fischer Price tier games made for the idiots they truly know you are.
they do,the fans. The fans are a perfectly good reason to try to make better games. And I don't mean the toxic reddit people,I mean some of the real fans who just love pokemon and want good games.
This is sadly the dark truth and this is how business works: Pokemon are made to make money and Gamefreak has to figure what will maximize their profits, and they will do whatever it takes to do this. They will cut your favorite pokemon from the dex, they will make the graphics look shitty, they don’t give a fuck about what we want, they give a fuck about what makes them the most money.
The worst part about scarlet and Violet is that behind all the technical issues is one of the best Pokémon games in years. It just needed a few more months of polish and it would easily be the best game since the DS era
Playing the game myself, the only thing holding it back from being one of the best IS the technical issues. I don't care too much about appearance, and the gameplay loop has been improved. Competitive has become more accessible, this game has some of the best stories in the series, and it is not a snoozefest like gens 6-8 (especially 8) can be. But I can't recommended it because the technical issues. I love this game and found it genuinely enjoyable, but dropping to 5 frames a second and fighting a pokemon only because they popped into existence in front of me is dumb and inexcusable. Gamefreak has made some good decisions, but they are so far behind on advancements and its only hurting them. If they cleaned up their act it'd prove that new Gen pokemon can be good. It's still a top game for me, but ugh. Could've been way better
Fun fact: this shitty game sold more in its launch week than Kirby forgotten land sold in its entirety, a game that fixed most of the problems in the Kirby franchise taking 3 years to make, selling 5.5 million dollars (being the most sold Kirby game ever) just to get out sold by a glitchy, copy paste, made in less than a year piece of shit. What a terrible day to live.
I mean its always gonna be hard to outsell Pokémon as Pokémon fans and kids eat those games up no matter how absolutely terrible it tastes But ye that sucks Kirby and the forgotten land was a great quality Nintendo game and is already outsold by a lazy buggy mess :(
I think I heard somebody explain somewhere before that from their point of view the fact that legends Arceus exists is proof that game freak is putting in at least some level of effort to try and change the formula (keyword: some) And I kind of agree with that for the newest release as well. They could’ve done what they did with sword and shield and made the game extremely linear but they ended up trying to go open world. I think the main problem is that game freak is just really old fashion and doesn’t have the amount of workers and or time to make a functioning game.
@@dropthehatantonycraft7516 i didnt. If you want games to have a quality change and you buy it, blame yourself, if someone buys the game blame them. Chad foekoe not getting mad at people liking the pokemon games is yet another reason he is a super-mega-hyper-ultra-ultimate- gigathad™, we need more people like you
This guy does not seem to know what he is talking about tbh. Gamefreak keeps pushing the boundaries, introducing new ideas, and dropping previous gimmicks, *despite staying at indie size **_for some reason._* Honestly, what I listed might have sounded like good things, but it was not when GameFreak insists on staying indie sized, I heard two HUNDRED in the team, in the same timeframe. Seriously, GameFreak doubled its number of full-time employees in the leap to Switch hardware to... two *HUNDRED,* yet foekoe thought "they just didn't try?" They made an open world game! They probably shouldn't have, but they *tried.* Note: I was criticizing GameFreak not understanding its limits with trying to both make something AAA big while staying indie sized. Sidenote: You should probably watch "What Went Wrong with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?" by Video Game Story Time.

I would consider myself a Pokémon fan, I’ve played all of the games (except gen 9) and buy the merch. But man do I wish for the day a Pokémon game fails and gamefreak gets a huge reality check
the game is starting to get a lot of refunds from fans and many many people are voicing their complaints about the game as well. nintendo will turn a blind eye to any online presence or complaints but i doubt they'll ignore the monetary losses for long even with it selling so well out the gate, which i think was mostly due to raw hype for a new pokemon without knowing it would suck this much
Watching this after having played the game on Christmas, it was a lot of missed potential because there are other aspects of the game that are cool, but ruined by the game itself and the lack of polish (the music, pokemon designs, story/characters), but the thing that pisses me off is the fact they're releasing a DLC for 35€ on a COMPLETLY BROKEN 60€ game that they didnt even try to fix for the most part (mind you buying the DLC used to *sometimes* corrupt your save data, great). And the DLC content will only release in November but people bought it in March. Amazing. At that point no way im buying the DLC until I've seen what it looks like
The last Pokémon game I've played is ultra sun. I was so hyped for for sword and shield but when the reviews came in. The national dex cut, Mega evolutions gone,30 dollar dlc that you have to buy twice for both damn versions, crappy animationsfor, lack of animations, Still selling 2 versions of the same game with minor differences since the very beginning and game freak lying to us about not using 3d Pokémon models from the 3ds games. It killed my passion for Pokémon overnight. And Scarlet and violet just pissed on my Passions grave this time.
Boycotting the games will do nothing, gamefreak makes nearly all its money with merch sales. Pokémon has won, the games are a formality just to push new merch.
Boycotting will work as far as it is a constant agaisnt all the shitty products. It would not work with just not buying 2, because the most profitable franchise in the world wont be affected just by that, but it eventually would do something with a few games not selling well
The Nintendo Cycle 1. Someone says they dont like a new Nintendo game. 2. A Nintendo fan says that you cant comment on the game since you havent played it. 3. They buy the game. 4. They dont have fun and say the game isnt that good. 5. Nintendo fans tell them to just not buy the new Nintendo games. 6. Repeat.
7. some fan tries to presuade the same person''it's not that bad'' [they say this literally every single time while being in denial that it actually is that bad.]
Its not that they are not trying, its the fact that for some odd reason they want to keep their team small despite the horribly tight deadlines and release schedules the Pokemon Company pushes on them.
People say gamefreak needs to just "take more time" but I don't think they understand how that works. If they delay the games they delay the merchandise, show, literally everything. People complain so much but gamefreak has their hands tied
Foekoe has mentioned "Call of Duty, FIFA and Assassin's Creed." at least 6 times in this video lol. But seriously at least some of the people in those games (Call of Duty and AC at least, I don't know anything about FIFA, Sorry) actually care about what they are doing in their games than Pokémon will at this point. Also Foekoe I can't find a reason why they should put effort into the their games anymore, so yeah you're right.
Bro rlly has some personal hatred with cod and assassins creed lol Also yeah I get Cod as they do kinda release the same game from time to time but assassins Creed? The developers have to build character designs, settings and the world and they did attempt at rebooting the series with orgins but fans didn’t enjoy that formula so now they are changing it back to a more stealth style bc they are actually listening to fans they don’t just care abt the money Also foekoe should realise some ppl just buy these games like Cod and AC bc they enjoy them and they find them fun like I’m enjoying the new mw2 its not like we’re under some spell to buy them each year we enjoy them
@@camygael Gonna jump in and say technically it's more accurate to say they're the *biggest sports games in the market.* There's a lot more sports games than traditional sim sports. Most people who buy NBA 2K or FIFA are more fans of the actual professional leagues than the sports they represent. It'd make sense for a FIFA fan to buy FIFA but be hesitant to look for World Fighting Soccer '22, Backyard Soccer, Virtua Striker, Golazo, Super Soccer Blast, and even older iterations like FIFA 99. The games I list are all in the same sport. But their issue is that they're not as mainstream as FIFA, and mainstream appeals to wider audiences. They're way better on an objective level due to being more polished than the latest FIFA. But they're not at a point of carrying a huge AAA publisher.
fifa is in a very similar boat to pokemon where they don’t need to try since it’ll sell like hotcakes and there are alternatives to fifa like pes or ufl that’s coming out in 2023 but in terms of the marketing even if they are better they’ll never get a chance to shine a similar thing with pokemon and megaten
When you click on a pokemon trailer you read stuff in the coments like ,,I am 32 years old man, married and a father and nothing gets me more excited than the next pokemon release" Boggles the mind
one thing im tired of is when pokemon critics (especially those whose entire argument is gamefreak lazy, gamefreak evil) call the people that actually enjoy the games brainwashed, dumb or sucking up to gamefreak when I defend scarlet and violet im not defending game freak I understand the game should have been better and less buggy but the enjoyment I get from playing the game is more then the annoyance from its glitches or bugs (that actually arent that bad mostly visual ones really) and I also believe the devs at gamefreak should be treated like people and not greedy comedic villians
i really enjoyed this new pokemon game, the music is great, the new pokemon looks great now that they kinda re-made all of them, some of the character are nice within their stories, i loved making a path by the map, just like BOWT, i went to an area that i wasn't ready yet and i got absolutely beaten up, and i think they made a nice transition of formula, mixing the pokemon arceus formula with a bit of BOTW, yeah it could be a lot better, the framerate when you get far from a pokemon or NPC gets kinda shitty, these bugs are everywhere (i didn't saw one of them in my playtrough but yeah), but saying that is the same thing as red/blue, saying that gamefreak absolutely don't care about the game's quality and etc... is kind of a lie, like, yeah you can say whatever you want and i'm fine with that, but i bought pokemon violet because the game is fun.
i love when dumbasses ignore blatant issues with a game that are actually unacceptable for any other title than a nintendo game, no, they do not care. everything in violet is worse than even sword and shield. it is pathetic.
@@korbbles4725 absolutely not. yes its buggy but the biggest glitch i found was when i just started floating for a couple seconds. and while sword and shield are better with glitches i think that sv is like 30 times better in every other way. i get that the glitches are horrible for a triple A game but it is a very very fun glitchy game and i personally dont mind that. i get why people wouldnt like it but its so much better then swsh
i fully agree, i feel like despite the performance issues and graphics being disappointing for a huge franchise like this, it really doesn't affect the game as much as people make it out to. maybe it's because i pay less attention to stuff like that, but even then, i feel like people are overreacting.
@@somguyalex5409 you cant say the game is 30x better than the other game when the gyms have less soul in them, the game overall borderline has less content and the open world is simply an illusion of having a non linear game when theres still a very clear path you should be taking, and the performance is just simply unacceptable. the game cannot run at even 30fps, we should not be saying "oh its okay because its pokemon!" because it isnt. you are a part of the problem and if you wont learn i wont even bother discussing the issues with you, youre clearly blind or idiotic
I completely agree with the whole statement, but you shouldn't dog on the people who are finding this game fun. All you're basically doing is blindly hating on the love the designers, story writers and overall gameplay of it. I'm gonna say it flat out, pokemon scarlet and violet are such good games that once you get a whiff of it you genuinely cant return to playing the older titles. They nailed the open world so well and i feel like they deserve respect for that. Its just sad how rushed literally everything else is, and how people judge this game so harshly and saying its the worst game in the franchise yet without even playing it.
The performance issues have been on and off to be fair. I personally haven’t experienced any problems but I know a lot of others have. The games itself is not bad i like it more then other gens however I understand why others might not like the game as much as I do because of these performance issues
Xenoblade chronicles 3 is an incredible experience on the switch. Phenomenal open world as big as Elden ring, an incredible 70 hour story and fantastic gameplay that puts most action RPG's to shame. And it sold a tenth as many unit's as Pokémon. A TENTH!!! If you want a nice new open world switch game, buy xenoblade 3, you wont regret it.
3 pokemon games in one year...BDSP,Legends Arceus, and SV... and here I am spending an eternity waiting for mega man or star fox to have their existence acknowledged.
I played SMTV. YES, it has better look and the moves are so well animated; the only thing it is very difficult! It is a "Pokemon for adults" But otherwise I recommend it!!
6:47 Why is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX included??? Can someone please tell me it was a nice Remake and didn't really have any problems or did I miss something? I thought the Pokemon Spin Off games are mostly good like Pokemon Snap
Probably because you only played the shitty Pokemon games, if you played Platinum, HGSS, BW, B2W2 then you'll see that Game Freak actually cared back then and put in effort. But now they don't even try since they know that people would buy the new Pokemon games anyway.
Apparently people have discovered that the game is functional if you move it from SD card to internal memory which the SD card in question is the sole reason why it's causing a memory leak that is supposed to transfer informations to the console.
As a smt and pokemon fan, i was super ready for smt to finally appear in the mainstream and finally do some competition on pokemon, since it is just overall a much more fun and better experience, but now when people hear of it all they remember is the ign reviewer and his statement on the game: "persona without the heart". Jesus christ man just because it doesnt tell a story exactly like persona and does things a different way doesnt mean you gotta just absolutel decimate a game. Now not only is smt going to make games with a much lesser budget, but the pokemon monopoly will continue to prosper.Shit
I often feel like mainstream reviewers need to spend more time understanding the games they talk about. Or better yet, get understanding from fans who the series better than the anyone else.
I'm confused on why people say that Pokemon is the same game since Red/Blue. It's like saying Super Mario Oddysey and Super Mario 64 are the same just cause they're 3d platformers. Since Sun/Moon they've been changing the formula with stuff like removing gyms or fighting bosses like totems, team star or frenzy pokemons. They've added new game mechanics like raids, amie/picnics, contests, pokeathlon. New ways to catch pokemons like in Let's Go or Legends: Arceus. I guess you could make an argument for the battle system but still they've always added something new like Triple/Horde battles, new types, new status conditions, megas, terastallization, agile and strong style. I don't wanna sound like a boot licker cause I agree with how terrible this games performances and graphics are. Games like Arceus and Sword/Shield look ugly as hell, Scarlet/Violet and Sun/Moon run like ass and Brilliant Diamond/Shinning Pearl is just terrible in general lol. I don't believe the gameplay is the issue and they are different from the first games; the Graphics and Performance are.
while I get companies want money, they should still be respectful to their fans and give them good things for their money instead of half-done games that don't run.
I’m sorry, but I fully believe the problem with modern Pokémon is something many of the fans _absolutely_ want to stop: the yearly releases. It’s nothing to do with the condition the games are released in, but _when_ they’re released. Seriously, within a YEAR they have released 3 mainline titles, BDSP on 19/11/2021, PLA on 28/1/2022 and SV on 18/11/2022, and most of them had some sort of issue at launch. IMO, this is a major problem that has likely caused the developers to majorly crunch and has probably resulted in brutal conditions for them, all because TPC have to get the merch out every season. This is likely why these bugs are happening in the first place. Even though BDSP wasn’t Gamefreak, ILCA likely experienced the same conditions because they just had to get it out for the Holiday Season. BDSP wasn’t even _done_ when they printed the cartridges. I’ve been a fan since Gen 4, and this is a major point of contention for me. I haven’t got SV yet, because Christmas, but believe me, they need to cut out the Yearly releases with tight deadlines. PLA was the only titles in recent memory that didn’t have a Holiday Release either: they released during a dead zone for game releases, and yet, have sold nearly as much as BDSP have in less time, with a major disadvantage of not being two games. That was a great evolutionary step for the series and needs to be built upon for a positive future for the series. SV, as unpolished as they are, seem to be elaborating on it, so I’m willing to support these titles, even with the issues.
Tbh I feel like a few of the things presented were false. First, the game no longer has linear progression. You can do many things in any order you want- (though of course, you can't do something like become the pokemon master without challenging any gyms). Second, this game's combat gimmick- terrestrialising, or whatever it's called, I feel like is a pretty large difference from other gens combat gimmicks. Back then all they did was change stats, animations, and only sometimes, the typings. But now every pokemon has the potential to change its typing- I think that's a big enough change from previous games. Third, the statement about them only working on the game for 8 months. I don't think they would have everyone focus on one game at a time... Fourth, the graphics/framerates. I can't really say much about this due to not playing on handheld mode, though I'll say, the only time the game lagged for me was for a span of 30 seconds, when it was raining. Though, for graphics- it's alright. Nothing too special. Graphics aren't everything in a game. Fifth, I'm not saying the glitches don't exist, but throughout the 7 and a half or so hours I played so far (1 hour of which being with a friend), the only glitch that I encountered was a small one- just Koraidon getting stuck at one of those bike stations for the Cyclizars, where I got stuck in between the roof and a railing. After a few seconds the game respawned me. Of course, the game isn't perfect, but it's not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be Also, a reason for them to try: To get good reviews
It's not game freaks fault, they are surprisingly small for a triple a studio. The pokemon company puts these deadlines in. Also Nintendo as very little to do in the game development of pokemon they just own a bit of the franchise.
They do share a big degree of fault though as they still keep their indie spirit mentality. Keeping the team small is fine and all, but this current combination of small team doesn't want to change, the need to make two-three extremely similar games, plus schedule with fast deadlines is a recipe of a bad game and it's already shows, from a long while ago even. Addition: that combination is fine for people (both team and director alike) who are efficient and expert in what they're doing, which as far as I know, they ... aren't really good in both?
I think they also do work greuling schedules. No way they couldn't get massive games out the door otherwise. I remember once hearing that Satoshi Taijri worked 24-hour work days in his heyday. I'm not sure if that changed in current-day Game Freak, but if their employees still work as hard, it's frankly concerning.
as someone who has played the game, I personally think the games are S+ tier compared to every other game. most of the bugs are just funny and the rest can be fixed by just saving and restarting, I personally wish there was level scaling for the gyms, titans and star crew though
I totally agree with what you are saying and I fully well know that I'm feeding into this vicious cycle but I always find pokemon games fun so its tough not to buy one every once in a while. I haven't played a pokemon game since the original sun and moon so I wanted to try it out
If you believe they have to do better, pirate the game and wait to buy when better ones release, If you think it is fine, then go ahead and buy them because they deserve your support if you like the ending product. The only bad choice is supporting when you think the product is bad, mediocre, not efficient etc
You can say the same about any game you don’t like or any game with glitches I can look up warzone 2 glitches right now These big companies don’t give a shit they are auto farming money at this point
All the glitches are purely visual in my experience, and I find them more funny than anything else. I wish more people would discuss the gameplay and story when reviewing it. If you don't like it, cool, but at least look at the whole thing instead of "haha funny framrate". (The frame rate is obviously a fair point of criticism, I just personally didn't mind it.)
I’m angry at the fact that Nintendo is as successful as they are right now. They don’t need to put effort into anything anymore, they’ll just make bank anyway.
Eh, this was mainly on the Pokémon company, not Nintendo. Mainly their higher ups. I do think there’s a relative truth to what you are saying but it isn’t Pokémon related.
Just in general I’ve been noticing a decline in effort amongst first party Nintendo games. Of course there’s exceptions, but the past few years of the Switch’s existence has been plagued with titles that should have had a lot more effort in them. Pokémon is just a standout example of it.
@@p1nh3dlarry72You didn’t get me, I do see a relative truth, but Pokémon isn’t a Nintendo problem, it is a TPC/GF problem. I do think Nintendo should be able to improve and do things much better. I don’t think things are that horrible with Nintendo as many are claiming or aren’t in a decline.
idk man i’ve been playing since launch and minus pop in and general lag i’m noticing none of these problems. and it’s not like i’m ignoring anything. breath of the wild had similar issues at launch and i am really enjoying this game. do whatever i guess just know that the “glitches” didn’t ruin my love for this game at all. so don’t let one guy’s opinion let you love this game or not. anyway huge fan foekoe
and before you say “lag and pop in are real bad tho!!!!” it happens with every switch game. may i point you in the direction of breath of the wild again (pokémon is worse tho i will admit)
Everywhere I’ve looked, I’ve heard people say that they love the gameplay loop, some even saying it’s the best in a while, but consistently complaint that the performance and polish are the worst part. This tells me that Gamefreak is capable of producing high quality product, but are holding back for some reason. The common wisdom is more then likely greed, knowing that it will sell regardless of quality. More optimistic is that GameFreak has deadlocked themselves in a schedule of production, induced by cycle of deadlines for the anime, cards, and merchandise. Whatever reason you believe, the solution remains the same. They need to rework how they operate to give their games more time. We can wait an extra year or a half for quality control. And I don’t think we should start improving by telling people to stop loving Pokémon. It should start by taking a step back, and realizing that patients is a virtue, and that we don’t need every new game. Because if we can wait, so can Gamefreak.
At this point I'm just losing interest in pokemon games. I still like pokemon, but I don't really play their games anymore. I'd also like to recommend a franchise that is similar to Pokemon (dare I say better than Pokemon), Yo Kai Watch. This franchise was the closest and probably the only thing that could've competed with Pokemon. It got as popular as Pokemon in Japan and gained some popularity in Western countries too. (I miss the golden age of Yo Kai Watch sometimes) Anyway, the Yo Kai Watch games on the 3DS are a banger. I've put so many hours into the first and second games. I've never played the third one but I heard it's the best out of the trilogy. You can also download a demo of the first game to see if you like it or not. The physical copies of Physic Specters and 3 are rare and overpriced as hell so definitely buy the digital versions before the 3DS eshop shuts down.
It sounds to me like you're branching out a little into other Monster Tamers. And love to hear Yo Kai Watch get more fans. I would also suggest looking into Coromon if you have time.
I find this whole topic strange because I have had very little problems with these games. They still should iron out glitches because it is insane how many problems there are out there.
I don't think gen 9 sucks, I really love it I daresay even on my top 3 favorite pokemon games YES, the game IS broken, but the game isn't bad! They've made nice animations, despite some being weird and glitched. They've nice new pokemon, despite some being straight up being a flamingo. and they have a great game, despite its flaws. I think everyone is over-hating the game like Gen 8 and Gen 5, these games were hated for a long time, but now they get treated like they were awesome. I think this is because people look too much at the flaws and not at the great things that the games have to offer.

That's straight facts. WE (or more specifically those who bother to buy these games) should be ashamed for settling for this mediocrity.

This is also why indie games are better than ever now, AAA game companies can push out poopoo games and they'll sell, while indie games have to somehow get noticed in this huge sea of games, which can be achieved by either making a really good game, or through a publisher, which will only publish your game if it's good enough.
Does not mean GameFreak is wise to get its development team indie sized.
Ngl that’s why I don’t game indie games mid triple A titles ass
Indie games do pander a lot though
Indies aren't much better. For every really great indie, there are hundreds of really bottom of the barrel stuff. I still look forward some indies though and glad there is space for different kinds of games.
to be fair I doubt indie games would sell if they were made by AAA devs, they get to do whatever they want whenever they want and make it work and generally have more freedoms than big corporations would
that and I feel indies are generally not reviewed nearly as hard as big titles are, somehow I feel like they can get away with more
all gamers and fans want is a game without game-breaking softlocks/lagging issues.
The thing that annoys me the most out of this is how people think giving Gamefreak stronger hardware will somehow fix the series when just a couple years ago people were complaining about the games still being on 3ds while the switch was out
They had the potential to make something great when moving over to the switch but they never did and it's so blantently obvious that more powerful hardware won't change anything

Technically, that’s on TPC and gamefreak. Nintendo doesn’t own Pokémon, just owns the right to publish it.
The point is a little different: the Pokemon franchise does not rely on games (Scarlet/Violet and Red/Blue are bold exceptions) on merch.
I think it’s mainly on TPC and not Nintendo. Nintendo only does advertising and console exclusive rights of the games.
I think that another problem is for some reason MOST of the employes in GameFreak AREN'T programmers and the history of programming in this franchise is a mess. Probably why the games are such a mess even more with 1 year for games.

They stopped playing Pokémon

Nintendo has nothing to do with this.
The Nintendo Cycle
6. Repeat.
I don't think that's every Nintendo franchise. Every Mario game on the switch was phenomenal (and most other consoles)
7. some fan tries to presuade the same person''it's not that bad'' [they say this literally every single time while being in denial that it actually is that bad.]
this comment every time: ''did you even play it yet?''
Its not that they are not trying, its the fact that for some odd reason they want to keep their team small despite the horribly tight deadlines and release schedules the Pokemon Company pushes on them.
As one guy once said: "People who will buy anything, should expect products worth nothing."
I couldn’t really blame of why Fifa (and every other sport game) fans keep buying them because they are the only sports game in the market
Bro rlly has some personal hatred with cod and assassins creed lol
Also yeah I get Cod as they do kinda release the same game from time to time but assassins Creed? The developers have to build character designs, settings and the world and they did attempt at rebooting the series with orgins but fans didn’t enjoy that formula so now they are changing it back to a more stealth style bc they are actually listening to fans they don’t just care abt the money
Also foekoe should realise some ppl just buy these games like Cod and AC bc they enjoy them and they find them fun like I’m enjoying the new mw2 its not like we’re under some spell to buy them each year we enjoy them
@@camygael Gonna jump in and say technically it's more accurate to say they're the *biggest sports games in the market.* There's a lot more sports games than traditional sim sports.
But they're not at a point of carrying a huge AAA publisher.

look here’s the thing, why are so many people so mad about glitches, when they are funny? like I’ve had some and they genuinely make it more fun
When you click on a pokemon trailer you read stuff in the coments like
,,I am 32 years old man, married and a father and nothing gets me more excited than the next pokemon release"
Boggles the mind
one thing im tired of is when pokemon critics (especially those whose entire argument is gamefreak lazy, gamefreak evil) call the people that actually enjoy the games brainwashed, dumb or sucking up to gamefreak
when I defend scarlet and violet im not defending game freak I understand the game should have been better and less buggy but the enjoyment I get from playing the game is more then the annoyance from its glitches or bugs (that actually arent that bad mostly visual ones really)
and I also believe the devs at gamefreak should be treated like people and not greedy comedic villians
I was about to buy the game, you changed my mind
I've given up on criticism of any entity above 1 million dollars. They clearly are far above us at this point.
All hail the money-havers, I guess.
It honestly feels like GameFreak doesn’t bother trying because they know that Hardcore fans/Furries will keep shilling out for new source material.
funnily enough i got a pokemon and scarlet violet ad before watching this
i really enjoyed this new pokemon game, the music is great, the new pokemon looks great now that they kinda re-made all of them, some of the character are nice within their stories, i loved making a path by the map, just like BOWT, i went to an area that i wasn't ready yet and i got absolutely beaten up, and i think they made a nice transition of formula, mixing the pokemon arceus formula with a bit of BOTW, yeah it could be a lot better, the framerate when you get far from a pokemon or NPC gets kinda shitty, these bugs are everywhere (i didn't saw one of them in my playtrough but yeah), but saying that is the same thing as red/blue, saying that gamefreak absolutely don't care about the game's quality and etc... is kind of a lie, like, yeah you can say whatever you want and i'm fine with that, but i bought pokemon violet because the game is fun.
i love when dumbasses ignore blatant issues with a game that are actually unacceptable for any other title than a nintendo game, no, they do not care. everything in violet is worse than even sword and shield. it is pathetic.
I feel like this comment is a joke lmao
i fully agree, i feel like despite the performance issues and graphics being disappointing for a huge franchise like this, it really doesn't affect the game as much as people make it out to. maybe it's because i pay less attention to stuff like that, but even then, i feel like people are overreacting.
Bro they got ed Sheeran in the credits 😭
I completely agree with the whole statement, but you shouldn't dog on the people who are finding this game fun. All you're basically doing is blindly hating on the love the designers, story writers and overall gameplay of it.
I'm gonna say it flat out, pokemon scarlet and violet are such good games that once you get a whiff of it you genuinely cant return to playing the older titles. They nailed the open world so well and i feel like they deserve respect for that.
Its just sad how rushed literally everything else is, and how people judge this game so harshly and saying its the worst game in the franchise yet without even playing it.
i agree, this video was way too harsh
I liked it, and didn’t notice any major bugs. Maybe I got lucky, but at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
"I have a question for god...
...WHYYYYYYYY!?"
I bet the devs were laughing their asses off when they made a Pokémon that is just a flamingo
The performance issues have been on and off to be fair. I personally haven’t experienced any problems but I know a lot of others have. The games itself is not bad i like it more then other gens however I understand why others might not like the game as much as I do because of these performance issues
Same, ive pretty much hit the performamce lottery for barely having had any bugs or issues before
Even without the performance issue the game still sucks: handholding as hello, easy as fuck and boring writing.

Really fun how you completely disregard the developer crunch argument you've brought up in the past in regards to this game.
I think it's like a marvel situation where the workers are being rushed
I only played 4 mainline Pokemon games starting from X and Y and quitting at ultramoon. I don't know how some people aren't bored of these games yet.
Probably because you only played the shitty Pokemon games, if you played Platinum, HGSS, BW, B2W2 then you'll see that Game Freak actually cared back then and put in effort. But now they don't even try since they know that people would buy the new Pokemon games anyway.
@@piranhalettuce I don't think any of them were bad, it's just repetitive
It dosent have the potential to be mainstream pokemon is too marketable and they set it up for success perfectly in gen 1
SMT not being mainstream is a good thing, I 100% bet that if SMT was as popular as Pokemon then it would go through the same downfall.

3 vids in 9 days! Your spoiling us
I'm confused on why people say that Pokemon is the same game since Red/Blue.
I'm glad foekoe now knows about SMT, it's very niche but I definitely think he should give it a try
SV, as unpolished as they are, seem to be elaborating on it, so I’m willing to support these titles, even with the issues.
sure theres bugs, but i genuinely have had a huge amount of fun playing the game.
Of course, the game isn't perfect, but it's not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be
Also, a reason for them to try: To get good reviews
Yeah that is true.
THE FUCKING POKEMON company only manages merch rights amd cant do jackshit to gamefreak more if you mean deadlines
as someone who has played the game, I personally think the games are S+ tier compared to every other game. most of the bugs are just funny and the rest can be fixed by just saving and restarting, I personally wish there was level scaling for the gyms, titans and star crew though
and it's thanks to people like you that we have worse and worse Pokémon games...

If you believe they have to do better, pirate the game and wait to buy when better ones release, If you think it is fine, then go ahead and buy them because they deserve your support if you like the ending product.
The only bad choice is supporting when you think the product is bad, mediocre, not efficient etc
You could just buy the game second hand and forget about supporting TPC.
You can say the same about any game you don’t like or any game with glitches

But I suppose you’re right that this is more on Gamefreak than Nintendo
@@p1nh3dlarry72You didn’t get me, I do see a relative truth, but Pokémon isn’t a Nintendo problem, it is a TPC/GF problem. I do think Nintendo should be able to improve and do things much better. I don’t think things are that horrible with Nintendo as many are claiming or aren’t in a decline.

Anime... why

(I miss the golden age of Yo Kai Watch sometimes)
Anyway, the Yo Kai Watch games on the 3DS are a banger.
Graphics look good, I’m gonna give it a 10/10 on metacritic.

I think everyone is over-hating the game like Gen 8 and Gen 5, these games were hated for a long time, but now they get treated like they were awesome.
I think this is because people look too much at the flaws and not at the great things that the games have to offer.
