Indeed, another element you don’t see is veteran teams and rivalries which is what made the nba so consistently exciting for years after years at this point.
The Rockets in this 98 Series with Utah came in and decided to play Physical, shoot the 3 ball no matter what, post Olajuwon, post Willis, post Barkley, let Drexler drive and take it to the hole as he was known for. Every game was a different look for Houston as they threw everything at Utah. Bullard, Price, Eddie Johnson were all shooting the 3 ball so well in that Series. Houston after game 3 led the Series 2-1 and in game 4 had a lead on Utah late in the 3rd period when Barkley injured his Shoulder yet again. That moment Barkley getting injured changed the Series, and the game 4 BIG MO, Utah took control from there on sadly.
More than likely, the Spurs would have beat the Rockets in the Semis, and they would have beat the Lakers in the WCF. The Bulls would have beat the Spurs in 5 or 6 games.
@@benyah3390 The Rockets were simply too old of a roster to go any further than the Semi Finals. Also, the Spurs had the best defensive duo in the league with a rookie Tim Duncan and David Robinson.
@@benyah339097 was the last best chance for the Rockets. They could’ve matched up with the Bulls although it would’ve been tougher unlike the early 90’s. By 98, they were past their prime and the Spurs and Lakers were on the rise.
Barkley, Willis and Drexler carried Houston in this Series. Olajuwon weas good in this Series, but it was his last Series as a true difference maker in the NBA if you look at his athletic ability from 99 on it's clearly going downhill.
The last great playoff series for the Rockets, and the last playoff series of Clyde Drexler’s career. They took the Jazz to 5 games after having a 2-1 series lead. This head to head matchup was almost evenly matched if you were to take a closer look at the stats. I will give the slight edge to Karl Malone.
@@perditadurango9699 Exactly 💯 if Hakeem, Barkley and Drexler had come together like five years earlier, they would have been unstoppable. Even better than the Miami heat big three.
Karl Malone and the Jazz use to dominate Hakeem. It was because of Malone that Hakeem couldn't even get to the finals to face MJ. Hakeem was 35-39 vs Malone in his career.
I would say that the Spurs would have beat the Rockets in the next round, and they would have also beat the Lakers in the WCF. The Bulls still would have won the Finals in 5 or 6 games.
WHEN I SEE ALL THESE SUPERSTARS HOF'S BODIES FLY ALL OVER THE PLACE AND HUSTLE, BUT TODAY HARDEN (AS TONY ALLEN SAYS 10 HOURS AGO IN GARNETT PODCAST) , JAMES JUST STANDING NOT MOVE FROM HIS SPOT CUT LANE OR PUT EFFORT. MONEY CHANGED NBA INTO WNBA.

@@PIP...33 I'll rather have Tony Allen in my roster than Harden. Dude have biggest heart pure team player. The good old days!!! Love these games!

Good old physical basketball
Damn right. Nowadays there’s too many skinny players named Jaylen who only shoot threes and flop a lot 🤦♂️
Don’t see that anymore! Good old fashioned competition

I counted 136 elbows thrown.😂
Like 80% of the Dream Team on the court
5 of the best 50players of alltime in the court (drexler, barkley, olajuwon, stockton and malone)
the foul calls and the rules nowadays are a joke
That Utah crowd was something else!
It was an incredible crowd, maybe the best in the league.
Thanks for this, please upload the rest of the games from this series.. thanks again.

Also, Olajuwon had knee surgery before the season. You can see he's at about 80% here.
Man, I miss this. Ya gotta have the Suns Knicks 1995 NBC regular season game. Sir Charles vs Ewing,
Yes sir I think i have that one
The Western Conference Playoffs would've been REALLY interesting to see had the Rockets beat the Jazz that year.

As Karl Malone had Mario Elie in a Bear Hug that wasn't called, so yeah the shot was Wide Open
After 1997, Olajuwon was done and wasn't playing great anymore.
Will you upload the full gamę to your Odyss chanel?
Matt hopefully I can get around to uploading it
Given how weak Houston ended up being in 97-98 it's amazing they actually forced Utah to a winner take all game 5.
And could've won the series if not for the dubious officiating in gm 2 and Barkley going down in gm 4
