Honestly, if it wasn't for that second season, everyone would've unanimously agreed that this show aged poorly in comparison to other Disney Channel cartoons. It really needed it.
one my kind of criticisms with this show maybe is that i don't feel like the villains are that intresting or entertaining as their just there to serve their role as a villain we never know alot about them except maybe chang but i don't feel like the go to into her either we don't know much about the huntsclan other than rose now this isn't a dealbreaker but in comparison i don't kim possible, amphibia or owl house would be as talked about if their wern't as three dimensional as they are what do you think
It's still a pretty cool take on an actual Chinese fantasy trope. One concept of spirits in Chinese made media is common plants and animals being able to take on a human appearance through cultivation. This even applies to supernatural creatures like dragons.
Tbh I honestly wanted a animated spin off that focuses on the Huntsclan. Could have been from Rose’s perspective during her time there. Felt like the Huntsclan were interesting set of villains we didn’t really get a chance to know. Season one designs were so much better then the season two’s designs imo.
@@memecliparchives2254 Yes they would make a movie when Jake’s sister Haley meets Juniper’s brother Ray Ray becoming a new love couple taken their places as the new American dragon and te xuan ze.
I've actually seen similar concepts in actual Chinese made fantasies. One of their versions of spirits that have the ability to take on a human appearance through cultivation. This also applies to supernatural creatures like dragons.
I remember being a huge fan of this show, the online forum this show would have during the second season and keeping up to date with every new episode. Despite the ending, I still enjoy watching this show.
"And is there a good reason it isn’t talked about today as often as other 2000s Disney hits like The Proud Family, Kim Possible or Phineas and Ferb?" Well, that's not really this show's fault; it's just that The Proud Family, Kim Possible, and Phineas and Ferb were like massive, MASSIVE popular shows for Disney Channel, while this show was popular, but not as popular as those three. Of course, those shows are going to be talked about more than this show.
Had a blast enjoying the ride of the show with inspirations, didn’t end up using cause of lack of motivation from my life when the show was airing. But just to watch each episode and feel chill, all the hip lingo I ate up, just the whole laid back practice. Though guess, I was the only one that felt a new art style felt like a treat, cause vaguely like a practice.

@@fightingmedialounge519 Oh. My bad. Yeah I understand what you meant now. I don't know what's up with 2005 cartoons being so similar to something else, but these two shows are something else.
well there's a lot of reasons why the art style change, some say Disney didn't like it, some say the animator died, and there's the not enough budget thing and a lot more
The art change was phenomenal in my opinion, more mature, and also Jake’s dragon form looked more like a Chinese dragon. In season 1 his dragon form felt out of place for his character!
i legit gave up on the show the instant they hit the animation with the ugly stick's big brother, the fugly hammer. Had the animation change been an actual upgrade? i would have loved that sh*t, or worst case scenario a MINOR downgrade wouldn't have been much of a bother, but yeah, what they did was not a "minor" downgrade to say the least. xD
This show always just felt like Disney’s take on Danny Phantom, although unlike the latter I never really could get into American dragon. Something about Disney cartoons always felt weaker to me than the offerings on Nick or CN
its intresting that you say that cause to me from a contonunity perspective american dragon jake long did a better job sorry i wish that danny phantom had more of a narritive

Also Disney might not have but others did, Hanna Barbara(the 13 ghosts of Scooby doo, swat kats, pirates of dark water) adventures of the Galaxy rangers, dungeons and dragons and more!
This show even when I was a kid DISAPPOINTED ME. At least Avatar only did that at the end when Aang got hit by Rock and Unlocked the Avatar State with no more moral dilemma. Jake started off way too annoying, the art change was jarring but bearable, the story was full of so much POTENTIAL like you go into! I wanted less goofy jokes and stereotypical high school cast bs and more lore and follow-up to lingering mysteries. More consequences for Jake's actions, which we only got in part toward the end.
I thought jake was cool when I was in elementary school, and from that I started loving Dragons because of this show.. also I dont really see the stereotype school thing... it is amazing that even though he was in Chinese he actually talked a lot in the hood style because he grew up there, thats his own style.

How about a spinoff that focuses on Haley?
I'd like both with a Huntsclan focused spinoff as a prequel and Haley series spinoff as the sequel.

I don't know. Even if Juniper Lee didn't have that much depth, that show kinda aged better.

They should make a crossover of American Dragon Jake Long and venom
They should make a crossover of the life and times of Juniper Lee and Morbius
dreamScape has plot.
This show didn't hold up. Jake's obnoxious slang makes it unwatchable.
