The centre of Warrington has improved a lot in the last 10 years. Most of the buildings shown between 2-8 minutes and 18-20 minutes in the video were only built during the last decade. It's been happening a lot around this part of the North West recently. Liverpool city centre has has the same sort of work done in recent years, but at larger scale because it's a city. Manchester also has lots of new builds in the city centre, although that's been relatively more tall apartments and office buildings rather than new shopping and leisure areas. When I visit town centres in other parts of the country, I now tend to be surprised by how few new buildings they have!
@@scenicrouteyt In the case of things built by the local councils, then yes. However, I expect that a lot of the development will have been set up by private developers rather than via a council. They're probably realised, a last, that there's money to be made in developing NW town centres. Salaries and employment levels in the North West are pretty similar to most other parts of the country where the town centres have more going on (London being the exception as people get paid quite a lot more there), so the previous lack of shops and other attractions didn't make much sense. The demand was there, and at last it's being catered for.

Pleased you enjoyed your time there!
Looks like a nice place. Those gates at the end are a bit unexpected!
Yeah they are rather grand aren’t they!
Thank you for this video, much appreciated.
You’re welcome.

I’ve only ever been to Warrington to go to IKEA 🤣 I wasn’t sure what to expect from the centre but it doesn’t look a bad place.
Yeah it’s a bit of a mix, a few nice spots and some more run down parts.
Think if they invest a little more into the town it could be really nice.

Yeah seems like there’s been a push to help improve the north west within recent years.

The old market was better, they knock it down and build crap. They're also knocking down shops near asda that were fine.
Never saw the old market but yeah they have completely flattened everything by the Asda
