Kerr was let down by his players, for definite, but he has to carry the can for the fatalistic, spiritless way we played in the latter half of that campaign. We may have been unlucky with Israel at home but we didn't deserve to win in Tel Aviv and were very lucky not to lose to Cyprus and Switzerland and finish in an even worse position.

i think brian kerr didnt do too badly as manager went 30 games unbeaten including friendlies against the likes of brazil , portugal , holland etc. after we didnt get to the world cup in 2006 he was sacked straight away without another shot at least we played with freedom and had andy reid picking out great passes into keano no negativity and it worked.
The team was a disgrace, Shay Given was fantastic though, then, like today, has kept us in it time and time again. If anyone deserved to go to the World Cup it was him. He did us proud.
He´s just been appointed as the new national coach of Faroe today. Seems like a nice guy, but we don´t need more nice people in the Faroe´s. We need a bull dog of a coach! Hopefully he can prove us all wrong! ;-p

The whole negativeness of those 2 Israel games really wreck my head though, we threw them away 1-0 up away until the 92nd min and 2-0 up at home and O'Shea fucks it up, WIN THOSE GAMES AND WE ARE IN WORLD CUP 2006!!

he talks about football teams as though they’re a machine that isn’t working quite as well as it could..have you ever noticed how whenever something exciting happens in a match he has to shut the hell up and let the other commentator do the yammering..he just moans & groans the whole time plus towards the end of his tenure as national gaffer he appeals to the irish fans to’ make as much as much noise as they possibly can ‘ to encourage the team when they already had 100% backing of the supporters that’s known as ‘clutching at straws’
