@@HrvojeGrahovac it's a Nintendo IP, not 3rd Party, the copyrights on the title screen and the credits confirm that. Nintendo is the IP owner of Eternal Darkness
God, this game is criminally underrated. Eternal Darkness is seriously one of my favorite games of all time. Yes, it may be light on difficulty, however, the atmosphere and lore more than make up for that, in my opinion! I’ve played this game and beaten it countless times, yet it still manages to freak me out every single time!
The greatest horror game that nobody played. Warms my heart to see this forgotten masterpiece still getting uploads and playthroughs. The occasional streamer picks it up from time to time; helps reintroduce it to younger audiences who otherwise would never know it ever existed. Definitely stands out amongst the Gamecube library. This is probably never going to happen, but Night Dive Studios has been bugging Nintendo for a chance to give this game the remaster it rightly deserves. We can always dream, at least. If not, I'll always have my physical copy.
Funfact: originally, there were plans for a 5th Ancient, unlocked after player (spoilers). The gold damage fields (as seen @7:54:40 ) are a remnant of this. There was also going to be a Crusades era character, all Knights Templar, but his section was removed following the 9/11 attacks Makes me wonder if the 5th ancient was going to be some sort of "Abrahamic God" analog.
I'll never forget me almost breaking my TV when the fake roach crawled across it lol haha it was just as good a moment as when resident evil first came out and we didn't know about the dogs jumping through the window lol they both got me I'm glad I was able to play all these games before the Internet came out because it would have ruined both iconic moments for me lol
I remember playing this year's ago. I got what I thought was a blue screen of death and I almost turned off my Game Cube but then it went back to the game.
This is such a cool game! Hopefully it gets freed from the GameCube jail someday. Maybe the Switch Successor will have a GameCube catalogue? I especially love the various hallucinations that occur when your sanity drops. The team behind the game was extremely clever! You get things like a fake volume meter that goes down, (reminiscent of TV’s at the time) a fake teaser for a sequel, and more!
Night Dive Studios has been bugging Nintendo for the chance at a remaster. Our best chance for a re-release, but considering the game's paltry original sales and Nintendo's **ahem** attitude towards its peers in the game development community, it's a bit of a pipe dream.
Happy October everybuddy! What a game to start the month with too, I've never had a chance to play this so this will be a treat to watch. "Nintendo is for kiddies", until they're not.
While a cool idea, I never liked playing multiple characters as well as using "meta" stuff in games, such as breaking the fourth wall. This game was no exception, an OK game in the end.
Ah, yeah! This is one of the GC games I still like to fire up every few months because it's just that fun and creepy. The game even teases its own sequel, _Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Redemption,_ in a madness flash but it was never made. Silicon Knights got in a legal fight with Epic over UE3 code, lost, and was shut down. The judge claimed SK copied Epic code, but the public never saw the evidence. It's just another reason I despise Epic Games.
I'm looking for footage/audio of the Xel'lotath Black Guardian's 2nd taunt From the Eternal Darkness Wiki "If shot at again after a long period of not being fired upon, Xel'lotath will say "Your weapons will not work against me, fool! Only the interplay of wits and magick can save your mind, if you can use them" I've seen both taunts for Chatturgha & Ulyaoth but haven't seen this one yet
Yay, it's October once again, and to get the festivities started, here is one of my all-time favorite horror games!
Wondering what history would be like if Silicon Knights didn’t get in that lawsuit with Epic.
@@CyberKnightProbablyYeah, it's a shame that they went down in flames over something so stupid.
Lovely October
How come this wasn't on PC or Xbox? The voice acting sounds a tad... anime like

Ah, Silicon Knights. You made two or three amazing games and then you just imploded spectacularly.

Still have my original copy from the GameCube days...definitely an underated gem
Such a beautiful plot. One of my top five games of all time.

I just started a playthrough of this last Friday night. A classic
Eternal Darkness and Conker's Bad Fur Day are the best M rated Nintendo games ever
Don't forget Perfect Dark by Rare
That Karim freeze frame at 1:49:00 🤣
Fun timing, I'd just watched a chunk of the previous playthrough video!
If anyone is going to play this for the first time, I recommend starting with Ullyoth (blue)

Oh yes! I have been waiting on this one. I didn’t want to be pushy, and ask you to do it, thank you though. This is one of the best.

I love how it's phrased "should [character] pick up the book?" obviously NO my dudes, rip

Step back in time, into the darkness. Into Eternal Darkness for Nintendo GameCube.

It's so whooshy and bassy. I love it.

Can I ask a question ?
Why is it so darkish ?
That's just how the game is. You're right, though, it's super dark.
