  • This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction to acid base titrations. It shows you how to calculate the unknown concentration of an acid solution and how to determine the volume of base added to completely neutralize the acid and to reach the equivalence point. It also explains how to calculate the pH of acid base titrations before, at and beyond the equivalence point. This video contains plenty of examples, equations, formulas, and practice problems.

    If HA is determining the pH by dissociating to H+ and A-...then why would you write A- as the base since if that concentration is high, H+ is high...ergo the pH will drop. in HA form...the H+ drops so the pH increases.

  • @patrickstar7693

    It gets always talked about the addition of a strong acid or strong base... my question would be how to calculate the ph with the addition of a weak acid? Lets say the addition of acetic acid to a phosphate buffer

    can someone pls answer my question ? which has lower ph nh4cl or h2s03 ? i googled it and nh4cl is 4.6-6.0 and h2so3 is 5.1 . this question came up on the exam that the whole country took . we never studied if the acidic salt had a lower ph than a week acid or the other way around. most teachers said the two answers should be correct but the ministry of education (who wrote the exam) said no theres only one correct answer and im dying to know which one it is.

    • @rvsxa
      @rvsxa 3 роки тому

      if NH4Cl has a pH of 4.6-6.0 then that must be more acidic and of lower pH according to the pH scale. also H2SO3 is a weak acid soooo it’ll have a higher pH compared to NH4Cl. idk if i helped tbh😭

      sulfuric acid is diprotic, so it releases 2 H+ ions but it can only do one at a time. so one H from H2SO4 will go to OH, create H20. then HSO4- will go to OH, create a second H2O molecule

    What I don't understand is, if you have 1 Mole of H2SO4 and 2 Moles of NaOH, then don't you already have a 1to1 ratio of H from the H2SO4 and the OH from the NaOH?

    • @sydneyhay1971
      @sydneyhay1971 Рік тому

    dilution is the absolute wrong way to solve these questions. A titration is a chemical reaction and requires stoichiometry and a mole ratio. A dilution is the change in molarity of a single solution where volume changes. Stick with the stoichiometry and use a mole ratio. The goal is not be to just get the answer but to understand the process. And maybe try to not have a cheating site as an ad.
