  • This trip was filmed prior to a life-changing experience. Little did Brenda and I know what would come shortly after our return home. While editing this project, it occurred to me how quickly circumstances can change, altering your paradigm completely. It has been said again and again that life is short. One needs to live in the moment and take nothing for granted. Although often said, it is very easily forgotten. Sometimes, it takes a stark reminder to appreciate what is important. Family, friends, our faith……those we love and trust, are most valuable. This river was an incredible gift to paddle, although I didn’t realize it at the time. Looking back to just October, it occurred to me how my perspective and appreciation for all those in my life had changed in just a few months. All rivers we paddle hold significance for us in one way or another. This one will definitely be a permanent memory. It is not as spoken of as the Current or Buffalo, but this river is most certainly worth a visit!

You captured the essence of kayak camping on a river...I could paddle that river for a month!! Fabulous video! You have some good ones, but this is my favorite AVA video. Nailed it!

Thank you so much! That means a great deal to us! This river certainly had a different feel. By the time the edit was able to be started, it was done with an entirely changed perspective. On a personal note, thank you for all your support during recent months. .

wow...can't tell you how much i enjoyed the video. as a life long paddle camper, watching was like a blending of beautiful memories and wonderful dreams. i could feel it, like i was there. i'm getting ready for this year, (new boat, new paddles, updating a lot of my gear). the video just made me want to be out there now. launching on the Buffalo March 10th. can't wait!

Thank you so much! That is exactly why we produce these videos. To positively reach and inspire others is our primary purpose. The Buffalo is an excellent run! Let us know how it goes, please!

we ran ponca to buffalo city last march when the river was running fast. it was a hoot, except i wrapped a canoe on a willow root wad (water was flowing thru all the gravel bar willow stands). fortunately i had all my gear secured very well, nothing was lost. the boat unfolded surprisingly well...you can't beat royalex.) the rapid below Rush access was a rolling hydraulic monster...very scary. i got turned around in the entrance river left micro eddy, but managed to get it headed back downstream just in time. (i would love to see some drone shots of that hydraulic!) we went thru everything but a tornado the last day, but ended up in sunshine. an amazing experience.
the video's bring it all back...again, thanks!

@@delkelso Thanks for sharing that! Yep, we’ve certainly encountered our share of “unplanned” events. They’ve ended with results ranging from damage to stitches. It’s all part of, as you stated, the experience. We plan on running the remainder of the Buffalo, but it will be dependent on permits for filming. If obtained, will do our best to get those shots! .

Love your channel! I live in St. Louis and have been on many of the Missouri rivers that you feature but no this one. Thanks for sharing and without head banging rock music that so many other videographers do.

Thank you so very much!!! A good music composition can be complimentary, but shouldn’t be the epicenter of the project. We try so hard to maintain a balance. Whether it’s an original work, or pre licensed. Your observations are extremely appreciated!

Thank you! Greatly appreciated! It is a unique little river for sure. If you hammock camp, I would recommend packing a tent as well. Some sections did not yield many options for hammocks. Just mainly due to topography. Plenty of gravel bars though.
