this game I beat yesterday, it is one of the best game I played in a long time, so underrated, the movement, the shooting, the weapons... so satisfying .... I use the lobber on that boss twice, and both was smooth sailing...great game
So far I got stuck the longest on the second boss, because I wasn’t taking the time to run all the way through the second biome and level up. Because I’ve started taking more time to level up I beat the 3rd and. 4th bosses on my second try. Now trying to make it to the 5th boss.
Of all the games I’ve purchased, this was definitely the best value for money. I bought it for £20 in GAME store pre owned. The brand new copy was £60. I was sceptical and cautious at first. Thought there had to be a catch. I couldn’t understand why none of the staff bought it for themselves. I could literally of bought it and sold it at CEX and made an instant profit. The disc was perfect and I’ve been having a blast with the game. Installed without any issues. Tested the suspension save feature and it worked without any problems. Best bargain I’ve found in a long while. Whilst all my games are relatively new and I’ve only just sampled the others, I can see me spending a lot of time playing this game.
Agreed about the drones, those things 🤬 Went one time to an edge to pick up an extra sylphium vial and a group of them basically wrecked all my health and my run
Nemesis is the hardest the boss in this game. If you can beat him you'll have no problem beating the game. The last boss Ophion is actually one of the easier one.
The game was easy to me :D I finished the game in just one run (no deaths) That took me 1 and a half day, cause I couldn't sit constantly all day long But, yes! The game is amazing and yet the best for PS5 controller. Feels absolutely amazing on hands!
After 60 hours of play and 115 deaths in my first playthrough, and a lot of hours spent on the DLC, I can get through Returnal now with only 3 deaths. I haven't played any of the *Souls games, but if you can't do that with the *Souls games, then Returnal isn't harder.
I love this game so much. But I don't understand people who say that this game is hard. I don't reckon myself a very skilled gamer but I beat every boss without dying (sometimes with the help of the reconstructor but I didn't need to start from the beginning, and this death doesn't "count" as death in the game). But I am struggling with Demon's Souls. I don't even understand how can people compere these two...
I don't like roguelikes at all because they make you play parts of the game over and over that you've already perfected. This makes those sections so routine that they feel like a chore because there's very little challenge at that point. Though I have played Returnal and I loved it. Restarting the game when you die did annoy me but the shooting mechanics are so on point and the game is so meticulously well designed that it felt like less of a chore than other roguelikes. Why I would've preferred to just go back to the start of the biome you died on, the game at least lets you restart at the half way point once you get passed it. Great game!

@@invisAG I persisted and finished the game. Once you get used to the mechanics and understand that you need to spend time building up Selene so she can take a beating, then the game gets easier. My advice is always keep moving and use your grappling hook during fights (when you get it). Best items are the Astronaut, large silphium vials, damage siphons. Best weapons are the electropylon driver and the Hollowseeker (with serrated projectiles, portal beam and phasing rounds). Oh and save up 6 Ethers for the Reconstructors too, very useful save point to avoid the roguelike sting!! haha Good luck!!
This game isnt that hard. All you have to do is keep moving. Dont stop moving even when you are shooting. Learn to dodge correctly and anytime there is a boss fight.. Keep moving in a circle or back and forth! Again dont stop moving back and forth. Gain as much health as possible. Easy. Also dont play it on PC people. It was made to be played on PS5 with the dualsense controller which has AMAZING and I mean amazing dualsense features. One of the best games with it.
I've done 2 bosses so far,I've not played it for a while had it for about 2 months but know when I get back onit I'm gona be like, Why the hell have I not been playing this, It's amazing game, I've also started demons souls about 3 weeks ago naa that game don't do it for me

It all depends on your build. Need to find a detachable parasite on 2nd Biome and an Astronaut. I went in 1 time into this fight last night with half health and almost got him.
I actually feel like rougue like games are harder and more punishing than souls games. For souls, the map is always the same so you can study it and memorize everything. Plus, most bosses have shortcuts you can unlock, so basically if your main goal is to kill a boss you don't need to go through the entire map again to get there. Souls games also have way more permanent upgrade and choice. As long as you make it to the bondfire with souls, you get permanent health and stat increases and you can always work with the weapon you like instead of grinding till you find it. While both type of games utilize a get good mentality, souls is way more forgiving and rewarding for the time you put in (in my opinion). i understand a lot of people like the rougue like genre but personally I think it is too harsh for the time you put on (especially since I have work now and very limited time to play). I am currently on biome 3 and will continue to play it though, cuz I am invested in the story and overall it is just a really high quality game.
Though I think the last boss was the weakest, I also beat this first try (though I popped an astronaut figurine), but the second boss was hell, I took like 20 tries to beat it.
Meh… i finished the whole thing including Act 3 with 9 deads, definitely died more in demon Souls, although I didnt find that game particularly difficult either

Like i mostly died ti flying exploding drones. Beat the game in under 20hrs and i also died couple of times on purpuse to play longer. I know theres a bunch of chalanges and the tower, but main story was way too easy
I played this game on PC, i'm not a very skilled player, but this is game is very easy to beat, i beat all bosses in first time. Enter the Gungeon until today i've not beated, for me is impossible, but this game unfortunately is too much easy. Most bosses you only have to walk in one direction and shoot, most bosses attacks actually never hits you.
Returnal is way harder than dark souls!!! Biome 3 alone is harder than dark souls. I beat returnal but it wasn't fun. It's pure stress because if you die you lose everything. The game is the most unbalanced (and often unfair) game I've ever played. And I'm sure most of the players hate this game. Next housemarque game will be lead on the shelf.

While some might say it would lose the charm, I would have enjoyed it a great deal more if it was actually like souls just with guns, with upgrades that are permanent and maps that are static but masterfully designed.

yeah it's definitely smart to take your time to get as strong as possible before the boss.

yeah returnal was actually harder for me to beat than Demon souls was but i used the magic class in demon souls lol.
I finally managed to beat the second boss but biome 3 is only pain.
I think I should restart DS with the magic class too. I'm really bad as a knight.

Fair. I absolutely loved this game. Beat it 6 times + alternate ending. But no lie it is a sweaty af single player game haha
Play it some more unlock weapon perks use all the weapons see the power of other guns
