- Like many students, paying for law school was one of my biggest concerns during the law school application process. Hopefully this video sheds light on what you might expect for scholarship offers from some top law schools.

Always renegotiate the terms of a scholarship offer. Good point about 2nd and 3rd-year scholarship opportunities based on merit. Summer jobs also factor in terms of scholarship money, especially at Harvard Law. Remember, It's your money on the line, so look at the cost-benefit analysis.

Hey ! I love your channel. I need some advice.
So I just graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, I am looking to go to law school next year.
I plan on taking the November LSAT, but I don’t feel like I’m ready but Duke’s cycle closes this February and I’ll be out the country from December to January. I don’t want to wait till next years cycle. Or I can just study more and take it apply to Unc which closes in May. Sorry to spam, but super desperate and confused.
hey girl! I vote just do you best and take it in November! that way you at least have the option to apply to duke- don’t count yourself out so early! it seems like your worst case scenario is UNC which is also a fantastic school. If you really want duke, though, I’d push to get that score you want or wait a year. you have to decide what’s worth it!

I may be mistaken, but I thought the scholarship award that you get awarded is for the year, not all three years combined and it renews every year? Duke gave you $112k, COA is $94k, so wouldn’t that be considered full tuition?
Nope! That’s how it works for undergrad, but in law school they usually just give you a total for all 3 years (whereas COA is yearly)
@@zoelolaaa Wow, I didn’t know that. I’m prepping for the November LSAT. Super nervous, my goal is 90th percentile like you, 165. I’m determined to get it!
She scored a 166 I believe (mentioned in another video) with a 3.6 gpa. But yes, that is above the 90th percentile, closer to 95th or 96th percentile.
Good to keep in mind tho that these scholarships and offers might not be the same for you due to “softs”, the competitiveness of the cycle, and other factors (major, urm, undergrad institution, etc.)

How would you negotiate?
I emailed and asked to talk with someone in the financial aid office! then over the phone I’d say I’m really interested in x school but [similarly or higher ranked school] has given me more money. or even just saying you really want to go but need more money can work sometimes too
Can girl if you just wanna make money you should’ve done computer science or engineer in undergrad. Or/and an MBA for graduate school 😅
