For the record, I purchased this amp last year to push kicker and fosgate mids and highs, and kicker 10s in sealed truck boxes in my 2017 4RUNNER. I ended up putting a pair of Kicker Comp R 12s in a ported box, wired at 2 ohms, in the truck to enjoy bigger sound when I didn't need the cargo space. The X802.5 drives those subs and sounds excellent even though they are rated for 1000 watts rms! To be fair, I have an LCQ-1 adjusting the signal from the stock head unit to the Kenwood, but I'm telling you this little 5 channel amp is an outstanding unit!
Thanks for the vid! Looks like the new 802-5 has smaller caps? Are they still Elna caps like in the 801? Would the smaller caps have a notable impact on performance? Thank you kindly
So I redid my entire wiring and ran each speaker to this amp, I also have a 10in sub. How do I set the gains for both? Do I use both the sub and ab and do them separately or do I use just one? I have a pioneer avh4500nex as a head unit so each one has its own rca cables which I ran for all three left, right and sub outputs. I can run wire all day long and hook everything up but when it comes down to the tune of the amp I always get lost.
what kind of fuse from the car battery to the amplifier would you put to this keenwood amp Excelon Xr901-5, it has 3 40A fuses in the amp. But I want to know the fuse that you put close to the battery of the car
This may be a dumb question. But how do you reach a 2 ohm Impedance on 4 channels. I'm sorry for the silly question but I really dont know. I just would like to know how to get more power to my mids and highs in front doors and rear doors. Thank you
There are 2-3 ohm speakers are available. Infinity, JBL, Focal, and other brands make them. I think Alpine Type-R came in 2 ohm at one time or another.
@@spazzattack1188 This thing only makes 75 watts per channel at 2 ohm. If he wants more midbass bridge the front channels to get 150 watts. You can also lower the crossover point (60 - 65hz)and pull it up front more if your speakers can handle it and your doors are dampened properly.
Hey dean.. off topic here.. but I remember you showing this nice trick with a 9v battery to test a speaker... so I tried it today 02/06/18... on a 2002 sonata.. and well I get no sound???.... any idea. Think it's this type of car... thanks anyway.. keep up the awesomeness...
i mean an easy way around it is use a copper lug that fits, that allows a terminal to be completely screwed and no real chance of it coming out, Yea its heavily outdated though.
Sony has them too. I used to not like them - until i realized i like using a drill to tighten them up instead of finding the right wrench and it taking a while. Crossovers have these.

Kenwood Excelon X802-5 is better then Fosgate R2-750X5?
But how does it perform? I would much rather see you bench test these amps and measure power output at 1% THD than SPL meter 6 inch subs.
That's what BigDWiz is for! Hopefully he will bench these amps ( the new pioneer also) and compare them to the older model(s)
@@DapimpBDSD I thought that he only did old school stuff?
@@bbchester6 normally he does but he also does requests or if someone sends him an Amp.
With this being Hi-Res Certified, is there a real reason to buy the XR901?

Add up the fuses on the amp and put one of those near the battery. That would be a 120 amp fuse.
@@Thebrothaisback thank you very much 😊😊😊
Someone please send Dean some lotion for those hands lol
Semen lotion
Looks like a great amp for my 03 Acura RSX

Bridge your 4 ohm speakers
@@chaskenaruto9326 so two 4 ohm speaker s on the left and right channel create 2 ohms right?? And same for the rear if you do left and rignt??

Are you at the speaker or behind the radio? If behind the radio it may have an Amp
@@FiveStarCarStereoInc behind the radio.. and forum says this doesn't have amp.. I'm starting to doubt that..
Fork terminals in 2019? Come on Kenwood y'all can do better than that!
Can you review the kenwood Excelon 1000.1 please no one has done it
Less "norrise" rocks!
No Birthday Certificate???🤦♂️
should have got rid of the spade terminals with the redesign.☹
Huh!!! Those style terminals are the worst!!!
Yeah its a bit 1980s lol
Yup it’s literally why I don’t buy kenwood they are like the Kmart of car amps no evolution

exactly, it's actually very secure that way
