SOUTHDOWN! 🤦♂️ As soon as you showed all about it... My bells n lights went off 😂 I was looking (and trashing area) through my notes that never made it to organized to find the floofy cousin to Merino... Thanks! I had an idea of getting fine fibers that live for fine lace spins and couldn't recall all my notes by memory 🤦♂️🤷♂️ it's written down now with Shetland, blf, cromo, merino, and silk 😂 Love ya Sadie ☕
Hi Sadie, I hope you're OK xx ❣️❣️❣️ Thankyou so much for sharing this video podcast. Loving the Breed Study with both Dyed and Natural colours . The South Down does look a lot softer than the Dorset. 🐑🐑 Hope you have a Wonderful Weekend 🌟🌟 Happy Spinning and Dying Spin Sister 🎡🎉🐑🥰🥰 Take care and stay safe Lots of love and Big Hugs to you, Chris and Hunter ...Jen xxxx ❤️❤️❤️❤️🫂🫂🫂🫂🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
I was really surprised by the shrinkage!😮 Its so interesting to see how the different methods of preparation can alter the structure, and therefore the spin of each breed. Love it!! Thanks for your hard work on this series. 🙏🏼🥰
I know right I was not expecting that at all so this is why I need to try them all again in a different prep so as to get a true understanding of what can do what and how it all looks xx
It loves to spin from rolags. Add a little extra twist and make sure to wash it to set the twist before using. Steaming it does not work as well and your project will change size. It also resists felting. It's an amazing wool.
@@sadiesspincraft6319 it's amazing how much the commercial processes change the wool. Most of the life comes back when you wash it but there's still nothing like hand processed wool.
@SacredSoulArt it's great. I've done a few videos in the jars, all different sizes so that you can either do a tester or a full 200g with a variation of colours running through x

Thank you, and I agree that it is informative to use rolags and top as well as fleece. Blessings.
Thank you Lisa xx
Reallt enjoyint this study. ❤

I think I have alot of yarn washing to do as I have a box full that needs washing ro set and a box full that just needs airing xx
The commercial prep is very different than working with the fleece. The fleece is way more springy.
This is what I'm noticing it's why my breed study keeps changing and getting longer lol xx

@bffiberarts that I defo agree with I love raw fleece more than mill processed top and that is saying something for me lmao cx
Hello all excited for this video😊
I'm so glad 😊 xx
Did you say how well or not it took the dye,, did I miss that bit?
It took dye so well I needed more but didn't add it lol xx
It's a down fiber. Wet it to see how springy!
I've never spun a down before so this was a nice change xx
Hiya. How long do you leave the fibre in the jar for when dyeing? Is it until the water is clear? Xx
Yes I just wait and once it's clear I wash it xx
@@sadiesspincraft6319 thanks lovely, never tried the jar method. Looks great 😊 xx
