There were two versions of “Look At Me, I’m In Love”, the French version, and another version from Retta Young which was featured on a soundtrack to a long lost film called “Patty”.
I remember The Moments aka Ray, Goodman and Brown. My favorite song when they were known as The Moments is "Love on A Two-Way Street". My favorite song as Ray, Goodman and Brown is "Special Lady". I agree with the fact that they were a very underrated R&B vocal group. And it goes to show how even if you have the talent, that you can still get caught up on the ugly side of the music business.
There was nothing better or finer than Ray, Goodman and Brown. Happy anniversary and Special Lady top the charts, for those memorable house parties. ❤❤❤🎉😊
The Moments or Ray, Goodman & Brown had some cuts! They were smooth. My favorite songs by them were "Look At Me," "Love On A Two Way Street," "Special Lady," and "Happy Anniversary." Didn't know they provided background vocals for Alicia Keys on her recording of, "You Don't Know My Name." Thanks for their story.
Alicia Keys knew those background vocals would best be done by none other than the guys that sang "Hey Girl, What Is Your Name" She was very smart, knowing that many of us would know, it was only fitting. Peace Out
She took them on tour after that background performance. She knew she had found gold. This was during a lull in their career. They always gave her a shout-out.
Their mega hit, "Love On A Two Way Street" wins with me😊. It is alleged that Lezlie Valentine co-wrote "Love...". I hope she gets credited for her portion of the song. I'm also a fan of "Look At Me, I'm In Love" (lush strings), and their cover version of The Ink Spots song, "If I Didn't Care".
As the story goes, at 1:30, Stang was part of All Platinum since Joe and Sylvia Robinson formed All Platinum in 1968. In addition to the All Platinum family of labels, Stang came first, and then Turbo and Vibration. After All Platinum closed down, she formed Sugarhill Records in 1979 and their very first hip-hop single was “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang, and the rest was history.
MY FAVORITE SONG BY THE GROUP IS ANYTHING WITH HARRY RAY SINGING ON IT !! HIS VOICE WAS SOOOOOO VERY AMAZING TO HEAR AND LIGHT AS A CLOUD !!! I MISS HIS TALENT MUCH BUT HE LEFT A HELLUVA LEGACY OF THE MUSIC FOR US FANS FOREVER !!!😘😍😎❤❤❤❤❤
So interesting to know. While I have so many memories with their songs, I have a lot of favorites. What is played and shared mostly is “Happy Anniversary”. I play it every year for mine and I send it to many friends every year. The Moments/Ray, Goodman & Brown are cemented into the soundtrack of my life!

Shame there is no mention of their UK top 20 hits. Girls, Dolly My Love and Jack In The Box. I think the last two were recorded in London and both were very different mixes than what appeared on the US album.
My father Tommy Keith wrote song for the moment he arrange and produced jak Jack in the box and and seven days and Dolly my love I'm his son Nate Keith sr
Tremendous group. Some of my favorites from them, 'Girl I'm Gonna Miss You, When You're Gone',, 'This Old House' , "What is Your Name', 'We've Got Tonight', ... They have great songs that were never released as singles...
There were many great groups back in the day that you would have to appreciate music and be exposed to as much music as possible to know about The Moments later known as Ray Goodman & Brown. Great post.
During My teen age years (High School) The Moments were My Favorite R & B Group. Difficult to pick Just 1 Song but If I Just Have Narrow It Down to 1 Song, That's "(Hey Girl) What Is Your Name")! A lot of the Info. In this Vid. I DID NOT KNOW! YOU ARE THOROUGH!
As I write this in early 2024, it was about 15 years ago when I learned this group was the first to record (We) Don't Cry Out Loud as a smooth soul song two whole years before Melissa Manchester transformed it into a power ballad.
My father Tommy Keith wrote and produced and arrange song for the moment and he wrote Dolly my love and seven days and nine time and jack in the box and he arrange and produced harry Ray a Album it's good to be home and I Nate Keith sr is playing drums on it
I luv your profiles. Moments-RGB started in my native town. They & the Dells are unsung and truthfully are the best in their genres. Fave song: Not on the Outside
I hope you can do a blog on a group from my home town. "The Hesitations" Thay had a hit called "Born Free" in 1968. There is still a group of them perfoming today.

I go back as far as the the 60s with Ray Goodman and Brown the Moment's!! I have to be honest I just can't pick one it was everything that they were able to sing with greatness and the Harmony with vocals skills unimaginable!!! @WBPTV I noticed that you played a sample originally done by Caldera called Ancient Source. The vocalist on that song was Dianne Reeves. Caldera was one of my favorite jazz fusion groups. Great post, but I wish all of your music clips would have sung the title of the songs you played. Just constructive criticism.
The moments were definitely underrated, I still have their DVD but my all time favorite song, which wasn't noted here is I could have loved you. I play that song on repeat now and can't believe how much meaning it has for me. I miss great singing groups like the moments.
“You must be a special ladyyyy” 💃🏾
Always loved the way they harmonized in this song, NOBODY does this anymore and that’s a shame.
My Favorite Song Is Look At Me I'm In Love
Did u know the also made it in a French Version?

How could you forget SEXY MAMA 1973?
“Sexy Mama” was the song that never mentioned in this video, and so does “Sho Nuff Boogie” featuring Sylvia Robinson.
I absolutely agree .... they also forgot HEAVIN IN THE RAIN
I wondered that too
And "Baby Let's Make Love Tonight"
AND ALTHOUGH THEY'RE NOT MENTIONED SEXY MAMA IT WAS/IS A EVERLASTING SONG EVEN NOW IN 2024 IT'S A DAMN GOOD SONG HY THE GROUP
Originally The Moments is how I remember seeing them. Love On A Two Way Street was the jam.

She did the original Lezlie Valentine. Just her voice
Lezli wrote it and sang it first.
