One of (if not THE) greatest shows ever adopted to live action. Sounds great! The fact this was so horribly messed up is Shyamalan's greatest plot twist ever. Such high hopes for this film but with the show's popularity I feel a more talented team will assemble to deliver us the true live action adaptation that us fans want.
Things I hate about this movie: 1. Mispronunciation of names 2. Very terrible zuko scar. 3. Didn't introduce the kyoshi warriors (even though they are part of the show.) 4. Sokka is a wannabe batman and doesn't have that funny humor that he had in the tv show. 5. The fire bending is wrong firebenders don't manipulate fire they create it from there chi. 6. Iroh doesn't really give good advice.
no it's not wrong. Despite all the terrible things in the film, they actually pronounced Aang correctly in the film, unlike the anglicised pronunciation in the tv series.
@@ok-lo9pl when you look at aang's name in chinese characters (as shown in one scene in the atla series), it's 安昂, and that is pronounced the way it was pronounced in the film, so it's correct. I couldn't really see Zuko's Scar, even though it's a big part of his character. Seriously, I could barely see it. It's like this version of Fire Lord Ozai just slapped him in the face.
They actually managed to make bending look highly impractical, that should be an achievement in on itself. Watching them literally stop and 'dance' anytime someone needed to bend was jarring.
Yes! I was waiting for you to say #1 the whole time, part of what makes Avatar so unique is how it shows people of color as hero's, leads and main characters who are dynamic.
Actually, M Night Shyamalan was one of the only people producing the movie who watched the show. He took the directing job because he watched the show with his daughter
Raul Garcia there is this rumor, according to a member of an Avatar forum by the name of Kyatto, the film was a victim of studio interference and went through a troubled production that began with a ghost writer doing uncredited re-writes to the script, and ended with M. Night Shyamalan getting tired of arguing with the overheads, giving up, and collecting his paycheck. I’m not defending the film but I thought this should be out there
I think M Night had all the things mispronounced (even “Avatar”, which is an actual word in the English language) as a passive aggressive way to people who mispronounce his name.
I don't understand the mispronunciation of "Avatar". I remember him claiming he wanted the authentic Asian pronunciations of the names, which was idiotic, especially when he proceeded to cast the whitest kids he could find. News Flash, Shyamalan: you can't have it both ways!
@@rpaul4197 Hey, I heard the word "water" is derived from Germanic and Dutch roots, so they should've pronounced it "wah-ter". Or "wah-sir". So, I guess we go them a second time, eh?
Fun fact: the girl who played Yue in the live action also played Asami in The Legends of Korra. Maybe it was some sort of apology for ending up in the live action.
My biggest issue was the Fire Nation’s motive for going to war, in the first place. Series - we want to bring our prosperity to the world. Movie - we like war.
The only actor in the live action remake that can been forgiven and has been redeem is Princess Yue cause the actor voices Asami from the legend of korra
I will forgive the boy playing Aang, because he was young enough that he can be forgiven for the stiff performance. A young inexperienced actor combined with a bad script always equals disaster. Also, I believe that this was his first (and sadly probably his only) role, unlike the teens playing Katara and ugh... "Sohka" who were older and whilst they can't be blamed for the script, they could have at least tried. Even the butchering of Iroh was forgivable to me, because it's clear Shaun Taub tried to do the best he could with the bullshit handed to him, as a grown, experienced actor can.
I’m still super upset about the fact that katara doesn’t have her hair loopies, Zuko doesn’t have his scar (wtf why didn’t they put his scar) and the way appa looks WHAT DID APPA DO TO LOOK SO HORRIFYING
Katara , Aang, Sokka, and other character's being white. That one monk that had no business being played by Ernie Hudson and why are most of the royal family of the Fire Nation Indian? They're suppose to be influenced by mostly Japan, a bit of China, and some of Polynesia.
Books turned into movies: let's stretch the last one into 2 movies to make more money. ATLA turned into this: let's pack an entire season into 1 movie because who needs plot or character development.
10:24 Actually firebenders in the show can’t make fire out of nothing, they use their bodies/body heat to generate fire. This shows in season one where Zuko can’t make a fire in the North Pole, because his body isn’t warm enough.
Exactly, jao even explains this before the invasion, “this is not a mindless Earth Kingdom village we can just march into, the Water Tribe are powerful even the landscape is an icy fortress”
No Zuko lost his bending because he lost the will of fire(Sun) within himself. Later he restores it by meeting the first firebenders and the ancient sun warriors.
@@jcynthtingson4820 that was because anger fuelled his fire but later finds a new drive to fuel his fire, that’s got nothing to do with what we’re saying in terms of actually having the ability to firebend, where to quote Iroh “fire comes from the breath not the muscle”, therefore because it’s so cold it’s hard to breathe which in turn actually makes them struggle to firebend in harsh landscape like the North and South Pole
TLA movie: “Why can’t the Avatar have a family? I asked that, they said that’s a sacrifice the Avatar always has to make.” Also Roku in the show: *Has a whole family*

Actually firebenders in the show can’t make fire out of nothing, they use their bodies/body heat to generate fire.
