    Great podcast with DT a fabulous racquet master. Soooo much more could have been discussed, but would probably bore 80% of the listen audience. Few things for example.
    Vibration nodes moving their location based on custom weight placement. Thus the sweetspot and dead zones are effected by weight location. Twist weight didn’t make the conversation either and it’s a component of racquet stability.
    Also recognizing ball compression, string deflection, dwell time all effected by string characteristics and racquet flex, as well as string to string friction coefficients affect access to spin, especially when discussing hybrid stringing. Also to mention that a few other things, string pattern has an effect on the ball shape specifically due to launch angle as well as the increased spin of a more open pattern. Also there’s an effect to the player using a denser strings (18/20) pattern more strings in contact with the ball dispersing the force across all of them thus reducing the direct impact to the players hand/arm. Also there can be a significant difference between balance point and polarity. I know Dustin knows this, but it didn’t get discussed. 2 racquets could have the exact same balance point and total weight but have widely different polarity and will hit completely differently.
    MGR/I didn’t get discussed which takes into consideration TW, SW, BAL,AND polarity as well as and MOI “ball contact point” into the calculation of a racquet setup. A player should be able to generate his/her maximum consistent force on the ball where they contact the ball most consistently with stability and control. Since force is a product of mass x velocity. How can the player get the most benefit from that ball strike location in stability, power, spin, and control.
    Handle weight (increase) can improves plow and stability, but too much can affect an increase fatigue over long matches. Rubalev uses and extremely heavy handle weight. Relative tension is different from reference (pulled tension head) tension. 55 for mains as a reference (pulled) tension and 55 same (pulled) for cross tension is decidedly different because the cross is a shorter relative length thus higher relative tension. Part of the reason for dropping the cross tension a couple #. Just wanted to thank Dustin for being a great ambassador to the customization side of competitive tennis. Sorry for the scatter shoot as I listened I was writing.

      Hahaha thanks so much for this comment. It’s crazy just how much goes into the rackets and strings. All we know is practice to get better 🤣. Maybe down the line if we have another racket specialist on we’ll for sure include some of this in our line of questioning. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching!

    Weight can be reduced by using lighter weight grip or just straight up overgrip, use a small rubber band for dampening, use a thinner gauge string or cut out the head guard if truly necessary.

    Not everyone was using 18/20 in 2009. Federer, Murray and Nalbandian are three off the top of my head who played with 16/19 patterns. Lots more did then too.

    I thought cutting strings in the opposite pattern to how it is strung would be best? Bottom crosses first then when doing mains will go from the outsides to the centre

      Not sure but I would listen to Dustin. He has a lot of experience and a good handle on best practices for a lot of things when it comes to racquets and stringing.

    Two questions.
    Does two peice stringing play any different to one piece if using one string at one tension.
    And silicone in the handle is recommended here a few times but did not mentioned the fact it's not reversible. So what is the safest way to know how much and how deep to put it?
    Thank you

    • @changeoverpodcast
      @changeoverpodcast  2 місяці тому

      To answer question #1, I would assume that it has to do with knots. Sometimes you can lose some tension when tying knots so that could be one of the differences. Then for #2, I have no idea hahaha. Maybe we should have Dustin on again and answer some more questions!

    this guy said a lot of stuff that is so untrue. Can't feel 5-10LB, I can feel it if its 2LB difference. Also it doesn't matter how hard you hit the racket. The tension pitch is always the same.

    Nothing against this video I don’t know any of them but wish them the best but Players today are part basket cases and part crazy. 😂 The racket and string industry has driven players nuts. This never occurred with the best players in the world in the 70’s 80’s and early 90’s. They all used one very heavy racket a tiny head size and gut strings. And they played a difficult game jumping off the baseline almost every point and mastering mid court and net volleys and drop volleys and s/v, they didn’t just stand on the baseline and trade balls to see who misses first like todays players whom 98% never get off the baseline. And then they need 10 different rackets with all the assistance and the 100’s of artificial strings to assist them with providing top spin and control and power and getting the ball over the same net that players used decades ago. 75% of todays players would not be on the pro tour if they had to use the same equipment as players did decades ago.

    • @changeoverpodcast
      @changeoverpodcast  Місяць тому

      Haha no offense taken brother. Appreciate the well wishes. I also partly agree with you to be honest 🤣. Players do get carried away with specs sometimes for sure.
      However you shouldn’t take anything away from how difficult the current game is. The athleticism to run and get into the correct positions quickly for long periods combined with the skill to hit the ball hard with accuracy and shape shouldn’t be undermined.
      As time goes on so does technology and it doesn’t hurt to have an understanding to try to give yourself the best chance for success.
      Thanks for the comment and hope you enjoy the channel. All the best - Jody 🙏
