- Project no.99 Diy Homemade Electric Starter for Generator engine
This project is best for generator that comes with a battery charger, so you dont worry adding alternator just to charge the battery.
parts are very easy to find, a starter motor from a motorcycle, chain sprockets from bicycle parts and some mild steel plate.
-if it does work in your case you should be adding more tooth on your sprocket to gain more torque.

I don’t get why everyone is complaining that you put this on a generator, the same concept could be used for any small engine that needs an electric start.
Sweet idea though I like it a lot
Thanks bro!
Ooh, I rather do like the way you used a socket as a spacing guide to get that bike part centred on the metal plate at 4:34
Also, my ears thank you for not putting any background music in. Makes it far easier to concentrate and appreciate what you're doing. Quite a simple but highly effective modification you've made to that little generator set. Thank you for sharing
Thanks brother 🔥
RIGHT, SPOT-ON Mr. Data ......NO background,....'' noise '''.........i could not agree, more......shit noise,...kills the 'creative, and imaginary processes, some of us have been given. i used a socket, to fit onto my weedeater. Cut it in half, and used the upper portion, with a skill saw blade, welded to it. This, fitted and tighten the nut, onto my Still FS-40 weed whacker, Man, cuts small trees/branches very good. took off that plastic bs guard, on the bottom. SOCKETS....come in handy, for many, 'projects'.....
Very clever! I may do something like that on my lawnmower just for fun. Thanks for posting. Love your videos.
Thanks bro 😁
You would be amazed at the amount of time and effort saved by using a socket adapter and cordless drill.
Not if you use the generator all the time. Occasional use, yes, cordless drill. But it becomes cumbersome after a while.
JUst make sure the drill has no clutch. I broke a 3/8 adapter the first time i did that and loosened flywheel bolt.
But thats the point he made it electric start the way he did so he didnt have to do that
@@tandmbros5877 he made it electric start so that he didn't have to use a drill to turn the bolts, instead of using manual wrenches?
Great job. A few suggestions.
Extend it out so it sits on top of the shroud. Instead of so close to the fan. Modify the recoil starter housing to allow the chain to travel through. Use a sprocket from a bicycle. The holes in the sprocket will allow sufficient air travel. No need to worry about charging the battery. Run a trickle charger on the generator while it is running. That's why they make two way plugs and extension cords for. LOL
The right tools for the job
Very cool 😎
nice job! but from my point of view the flywheel is a little unbalanced and will do some vibration to the engine shaft and the bearings will wear out rapidly
Galing naman nyan!
You guys are really smart, I'm going to try this .
Ótimo trabalho. mantem
!
Would understand something like a lawnmower or go-kart but a generator ? So you have a flat battery and you need the generator to charge it but all you have is a flat battery, how do you start the thing ?
Creative work! You should put a charging circuit so the generator can keep the battery fully charged.
EXCELENTE TRABALHO APRENDIR MUITO. BRASIL.
tibe mo talaga kabalen nice
excelente idea hermano, gracias x compartirla
Great idea 💡 👌👌
I enjoyed as I always do good work mate good to see another video
Miss you bro 😁
nice one boss atin nakang workshop hehehe, more videos to come. Godbless!
Wa katnamu mekalipat nakami.
I personally prefer the pull starters especially for a generator. I don’t use it much and I know the battery would always be dead.
The only batteries my generator ever meets are flat one's... :)
Cool concept. Motor might burn up without the shroud on it though. No air going over the piston.
Thanks for the info brother :D
Placing the unit somewhere with good air flow will help though. Later on you could make a shroud from plywood or something
just run in winter only
@@wonkastudio-1211 It will still overheat and seize up. It has to have forced air cooling. Those things get HOT quickly! That cooling fan consumes a hundred or more Watts of power - so that's how much power you would need if you want to cool it with an electric fan. No house fan (or worse, computer fan) will do it.
@@databanks No, it might run 30 seconds longer. It needs forced air - LOTS of it.
Lupit mo talga lodi
Good idea and great job ! 👍 👌
Finally 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Great job men
Very innovative idea
thank you for sharing.
tnx sa idea boss
I love the job you did to adapt electric starter to a small generator, I have one and would like to do the same. Can you put links to the motorcycle starter motor and the bike chain sprockets you used, thanks and congratulations for your excellent job
Gusto ko ang laro Ng kaisipan mo bro, good idea, nice video keep it up!magsubscribe na ako nyan hehe
Pow. Right in the kisser.
Nice idea... but even if you could put the original shroud back on the sprocket has completely blocked the cooling fins on the flywheel so it won’t suck in air.
Engine will overheat under load and seize.
Just use a socket and electric drill
So super nice
That 32 tooth sprocket blocks the blower intake a lot more than I'd be comfortable with but if you modify the shroud to extend over starter itll probably be okay.
Maybe some evenly spaced air holes drilled into the sprocket as well as placing the unit somewhere with good air flow?
Yep multiple holes will do i think
Benar benar mantul👍
Nice!
Động cơ khủng
Thanks...Alot
So there's outside people and inside people.😊
So cool 😎
Using a N.O. (normally open) Push button switch, for the solenoided starter - might be better. One hand starting...
Mantap
can we use belts?
Can I use that starter motor on a 110cc bike engine?
Ottimo 😁👍🇮🇹
Mantap sobat
Great
Next project: Custom new body for the generator?
slick
What kind of starter is that sir?
A cordless drill and socket works too.
Mantaf
remember kids any time someone makes this look easy is because they already built it and took it apart before filming and only put it back together for the camera
show!
4:45 wow....was thinking the same idea, using bike one-way turning sprocket. .......To all: BE SURE to ground the item directly, with ground neg clamp. IF NOT, you will weld the bearing (s) on it.....SNOOPED around, found your (this) video....WAY TO GO.....MAKE DO, WITH WHAT YOU HAVE = Re-cycle, as much as we can......literally.....
Gawa ka Naman mg DIY feed pellet machine.wala pa kc gumawa dito sa pinas. .para Jan na Ako bumili Sayo. .new subs.from tandag
The problem is eventually the freewheel sprocket your using will wear out.
Thank You,
I'm a mechanic and a sprag may "work" but disengagement is the solution,
Thats why all starters disengage. This has more than one problem.
Very ice idea, you can take the generator off and use the engine with a small boat.
No to socket and drill, You need to carry it every time I think that was annoying
Hand always in the way of the work being done...
grease made it blow up huh ? you cant put sticky grease or they half grab a ratchet edge and self destruct
Gamay komentaryo lang...pro imong idea is gud.... Gud lock
Pakaliwa ba ikiot ng starter? Pwede bayon kahit may relay? Tnx sa sagot
Reverse polarity sir
I dont think that bike sprocket is designed to run at that sort of rpm... and not for an extended period of time...
Yea i was thinking that it would lock up in an hour of thd motor running.. just because bikes are more intermittent duty as opposed to continuous running at that high rpm...
This is will not work long time, you should use one way baring.
Ph🇵🇭
👏👏👏👏👏👍👍😀
gawa kayo mini jet engine
Boss anong klaseng starter ung nilagay mo?
Pang honda wave
😱👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Mad people
