  • Project no.99 Diy Homemade Electric Starter for Generator engine
This project is best for generator that comes with a battery charger, so you dont worry adding alternator just to charge the battery.
parts are very easy to find, a starter motor from a motorcycle, chain sprockets from bicycle parts and some mild steel plate.
-if it does work in your case you should be adding more tooth on your sprocket to gain more torque.

I don’t get why everyone is complaining that you put this on a generator, the same concept could be used for any small engine that needs an electric start.
Sweet idea though I like it a lot

Ooh, I rather do like the way you used a socket as a spacing guide to get that bike part centred on the metal plate at 4:34
Also, my ears thank you for not putting any background music in. Makes it far easier to concentrate and appreciate what you're doing. Quite a simple but highly effective modification you've made to that little generator set. Thank you for sharing

RIGHT, SPOT-ON Mr. Data ......NO background,....'' noise '''.........i could not agree, more......shit noise,...kills the 'creative, and imaginary processes, some of us have been given. i used a socket, to fit onto my weedeater. Cut it in half, and used the upper portion, with a skill saw blade, welded to it. This, fitted and tighten the nut, onto my Still FS-40 weed whacker, Man, cuts small trees/branches very good. took off that plastic bs guard, on the bottom. SOCKETS....come in handy, for many, 'projects'.....

You would be amazed at the amount of time and effort saved by using a socket adapter and cordless drill.

    • @oherman

Not if you use the generator all the time. Occasional use, yes, cordless drill. But it becomes cumbersome after a while.

JUst make sure the drill has no clutch. I broke a 3/8 adapter the first time i did that and loosened flywheel bolt.

    Great job. A few suggestions.
Extend it out so it sits on top of the shroud. Instead of so close to the fan. Modify the recoil starter housing to allow the chain to travel through. Use a sprocket from a bicycle. The holes in the sprocket will allow sufficient air travel. No need to worry about charging the battery. Run a trickle charger on the generator while it is running. That's why they make two way plugs and extension cords for. LOL

Would understand something like a lawnmower or go-kart but a generator ? So you have a flat battery and you need the generator to charge it but all you have is a flat battery, how do you start the thing ?

  • @blackbuttecruizr
    @blackbuttecruizr 4 роки тому +2

Creative work! You should put a charging circuit so the generator can keep the battery fully charged.

Nice idea... but even if you could put the original shroud back on the sprocket has completely blocked the cooling fins on the flywheel so it won’t suck in air.
Engine will overheat under load and seize.

IF NOT, you will weld the bearing (s) on it.....SNOOPED around, found your (this) video....WAY TO GO.....MAKE DO, WITH WHAT YOU HAVE = Re-cycle, as much as we can......literally.....
