Kinda sounds like it just be cheaper to engine swap it... regardlesss what would you say is the best engine to engine swap it, while maintaining reliability
I’m so confused why the whp #s are so low on these turbo’d brzs ? .. is there no way to get 375-400ish whp reliably ? What drivetrain components can you upgrade on these ?
The stock engines are very high compression and the connecting rods are a bit on the weak side especially when having too much low end torque. They are cast and have a unique angle so an improper tune or too much low end power or detonation can bend them. The block itself can accept around 500 despite being open deck design. However octane and connecting rods are the biggest limitation. That why most people who do not have special built engines will typically not exceed 300 to 350 whp. Most will be around 270 give or take 30. Also, the transmission will tend to break 4th gear if loading too much torque into it (in the manual). When aiming above 400 nm of torque it is best to consider upgrading to a fairlady transmission or just go a bit easy on the stock one.
I have spent almost 30.000usd of mods for my Mazda MX5 ND.... spent 30% of these for import tax and 10% overseas shipping. And there still lots of thing on my wish list...😅

What about insurance increase?
No changes 🙏
Great info, but I wish you would speak a little slower.
At 9:51 you said it was 9k to double your hp but I thought you said you made 283whp
200 crank stock. 150 wheel.
i'm scared to add up what i've spent on my wagon lol
I'm scared to do that with the STI 😅
How much os labor
For me $0, did everything myself.
But as an estimate average ship rate is around $120 and we'll say the kit is 15 hours labor. Labor would fall around $1800 or so
The price doesn't even include the time spend installing the turbo and supporting performance parts. Time is after all...money.
True, doing all your own labor like I did is significantly cheaper but with time included from a shop would definitely increase price
Good afternoon
Good morning! 🙏😁
@@Smeedia mfw a week into vw golf mk6 ownership axle snaps doing a burnout :/
Got damn, already fixed though?
@@Smeedia yeah
@@Smeedia gonna get a ecs lightweight crank pulley
It made 80 More than stock I’d LS Chevy swap it at this point.
+1
What? These have like 150 hp to the wheels stock
That's all good. Flex fuel is your friend of you have e85
I'd like to swap the car over to E85 in the near future 🔥🙏
@@Smeedia do it. These cars love corn with boost.
@@JFlogerzi if the none built motor can handle the power yeah
Ebay turbo one
Meh, if the goal is having a “fast car” then just buy a fast car or at least one that’s a lot more tuner friendly. Doing any type of power mods to an 86/BRZ is absolutely pointless.
At this point should just jz swap it
10 grand for 280 whp? OOF
Big offffff
😎👍🏻👍🏻
🙏🔥🙏🔥🙏
Tuning is expensive...you pay to play
Swap the car for less? Yea right.
Depends on what the swap is, junkyard LS can be done pretty cheap
As a daily the OEM features are nice to have. For an all out track car, drift car or street car a swap would prob be best. But fully agree with you 🔥🙏
seems like an awful lot of work or just buy a mustang gt
Definitely other cars that will make power easier 😅 when I went into this i I tally only thought it could cost 4-5K.... got out of hand quickly lol
@@Smeedia Don't get me wrong this is really nice work/a great project but there must of been some headaches along the way. Well worth it in the end though
This whole car was headache after headache, been heavily contemplating selling it when the 400Z comes out.
learn how to tune and fab and do it all for less than $1000.
That's the end goal 🙌
5k+ just to make base wrx power lmao
Lawlz
Jeez bro at that point just save ur money and buy a faster car 😅
Got 2 now and a 2022 BRZ 😅

Smeedia lol my phone was glitching and wouldn’t led me discard the comment I accidentally started typing. I’m looking at buying an IAG Stage 2 short block for my FRS right now though and I have a JDL Turbo kit to go with it!
Haha you good and sounds like you'd have a solid set up!
Too much lol
No regrets 😅😅😅
