ਸਵੈਯਾ
ਦੇਹ ਸਿਵਾ ਬਰੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਭ ਕਰਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਟਰੋ।
ਨ ਡਰੋ ਅਰਿ ਸੋ ਜਬ ਜਾਇ ਲਰੇ ਨਿਸਚੈ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਜੀਤ ਕਰੋ।
ਅਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਹੋ ਆਪਨੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਕੋ ਇਹ ਲਾਲਚ ਹਉ ਗੁਨ ਤਉ ਉਚਰੋ।
ਜਬ ਆਵ ਕੀ ਅਉਧ ਨਿਦਾਨ ਬਨੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰਨ ਮੈ ਤੁਬ ਜੂਝ ਮਰੋ। ੨੩੧।

English Transliteration:
Swaiyya
Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Ehai,
Shubh Karman Te Kab'hu Na Tro.
Na Daro Arr So Jab Jaye Laro,
Nishay Kar Apni Jeet Karo.
Arr Sikh Ho Apune Hi Mann Ko,
Ehh Lalach Ho Gun Tau Uchro.
Jabb Aav Ki Audhh Nidhaan Banae,
Att Hi Rann Mai Tabb Joojh Maro.

English Translation:
O Power of Akaal, give me this boon
May I never ever shirk from doing good deeds
That I shall not fear when I go into combat. And with determination, I will be victorious.
That I may teach myself this creed alone, to speak only of Thy (almighty lord Waheguru) praises.
And when the last days of my life come, I may die in the might of the battlefield.

About the artist:
Bhai Bakhshish Singh, is often regarded as one of the most accomplished Kirtaniye of the Twentieth century. Bhai Sahib ji were a ''Hazoori Ragi/ Hazuri Ragi' at the Darbar Sahib, Amritsar.
He is known for his 'Puratan Kirtan Shaeli' i.e. old traditional compositions of 'shabads' in the prescribed raagas. God had bestowed on Bhai Bakhshish Singh a vibrant, captivating and golden voice most appropriate for singing Gurbani according to the classical specifications laid down for different shabads.
His kirtan created a celestial atmosphere synchronizing with the gist of the holy hymns. He lifted the listeners to divine heights. He ferried them across the ocean of life to Sachkhand, illumined their minds and made them feel one with the eternal Supreme Lord.
