Whats the point of making a bottle every 5 min? Some people ask "Ok, so you cut it, now what you do with it? It is not about what I do with it after i cut it but what I achieved doing it. What you are doing here is called "Meditation". It is a total state of concentration, a training for the mind and soul, thinking about nothing but only what you are doing now. It's to find peace for yourself, and we need that these days (during pandemic). It's to tell yourself, I know it will be a very long journey and I will be spending a lot of time practicing and there will be many many failure to experience. I will break many many bottles, I will get mad, I will be very angry, I will be disappointed, but no matter what happens, I WILL NEVER GIVE UP cause I know someday I will look at something so beautiful that I created and it is priceless to me. I will never sell it cause it's all about me and my abilities and every time i look at it, it will remind me of me and I am proud of me. People also ask "why I am not wearing any gloves"... You won't be needing gloves when you reach that level of concentration and experience. I am a professional glass cutter and I know how to touch glass. The note I have in the beginning of my video is for those who never worked with glass. It is a note to beginners to prevent accidents and injuries so please wear gloves, eye protection and a good dust mask if you are a beginner and never worked with glass. Now a note for Professionals: Wearing gloves while cutting a bottle is like asking a blind man to wear gloves when touching objects. You just disconnected him/her from his/her surrounding world. You need to feel the bottle. I should remind you again, This is NOT a technique to cut a bottle and waist some time. Don't do this if your think "OK, I did it now what I do with it?" Do it to remind yourself of your abilities every time you look at it. When I look at my collection of bottles, each bottle has a story to remind me of, "You cut me and made me do the spiral dance for you" - "you cut me but I couldn't cut you". This is just what the doctor ordered, really precise way to cut whatever shape you want as long as you have patience. Thanks for not keeping this to yourself, you definitely are a master.
Have you tried packing the score with a conductive substance (powdered graphite/carbon/iron/ununpentium and then just attach electrodes or even better, put it over an induction heater. Now if she ask for more, you have enough bottle to make her happy. tbh, I really don't think any other technique will give you such a precise cut that doesn't need much sanding. As you can see I am touching the edges (well, not recommended unless you know how to touch glass) and they hardly need any sanding. IMO, the technique you suggested won't work on a spiral or curvature cut but it seem to split fine over flat cut where the score line is just a simple circle. Thank you for watching the video

Great work, just one suggest, you can use ice cube to run over the line once you heat the glass, this should crack the glass faster because of the temperature variation.
@@dpavlina13 thats why you should not use ice. A sudden shock gets out of control. If you want to follow heat and ice technique then change the ice with cool water. All you need is a drop of cool water over tip of your finger then place your finger on the hot spot. Repeat this and you will have a more controlled crack 😉

A bit stunned you are doing it with out gloves of any sort. Having worked around glass somewhat in my past, I learned over time to use the gloves. Ugh, how I hated it when I got tiny shards stuck in my hands.
Something I always wanted to explain but felt I shouldn't because viewers won't understand it until they try themselves. However; she is right also, I should have had gloves when removing the broken pieces. That was my mistake. I made another video and on that one i have my gloves when working with separated pieces. Thank you to both of you for your comments. Have a wonderful Happy New Year. Please stay safe 🙏
This is so great! Thank you for sharing! I have been playing with driftwood and beach glass art for about two years now and I want to make some projects with recycled wine bottles. This is an amazing idea for that! The simplicity of the end result is beautiful on its own. But I'm going to experiment with the driftwood, beach glass and possibly lights. I don't want to overdo it though. Love the flow of this.

After you did all that it would be cool if you taped it all back up and then poured a red tinted resin into the bottle let it set then take the tape back off, Would look like the “wine” is defying gravity 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺

Amazing art! Couple of questions: can you leave label on and cut through them to add additional character? Instead of using dremel to remove unwanted sections, does putting bottle in cold and hot water help?
I never liked hot and cold technique because the end result is unpredictable. That technique may work for flat cuts but will not work for spiral cut. Solder iron will burn the label. You can try for yourself and figure out a way
You have made me believe I can do this too. I have actually got everything together and am going to try to get as good as you at this😀😀 Only cutting a single line around a bottle first.
I am glad you liked it. You can do it! Let me know If you need help. Please send a new msg. It is very hard to follow up on older messages. below is another video for Cross Cutting ua-cam.com/video/D1OdGXYqyE4/v-deo.html
It will take a lot of practice before you get your first bottle all in one piece. To be honest, my first perfect bottle happened after a few weeks of practice.
The end product is worth all of the effort so thanks for uploading the video, you're a very talented and innovative artist. Is it possible to wrap the bottle in a heating pad for a few hours and letting it sit instead of using the soldering gun to see if that would induce the scoring to crack on it's own, or speed up the cracking with the soldering gun?
Thank you for all your compliments, I really appreciate it. The question you are asking has been answered over 100 times here. I have been practising with different techniques over time and to be honest with you this one was the best technique I found that worked for my designs, However; there are always an issue with every technique. This method is the best because you guide the cutting by changing the direction of the solder iron. What I found was that, in order to start the initial crack, you need gradual heating and cooling (No sudden changes in temperature) like hot water and cold water. You need to start the crack gradually and everything will be in your control once the crack starts to show up. To start the initial crack you need to consider glass thickness, Soldering iron temperature, how much time you apply the heat, how to cool the spot down so the glass doesn't break suddenly and so on... There are a lot of factors involved and you only achieve that by doing experiment yourself and learn the correct timing for everything you do. Yes, glass is that sensitive. Anyway, It will take sometime before you have your first perfect bottle made and once it is made there are no guarantee that next bottle will also be perfect. It's all the about practising and having patience. Rushing the procedure is the worst thing you could do and you have to stop thinking of ways to speed the process up. It just won't work, glass has it's own mind and you have to follow it's rules. I hope I answered your question the best way I could. Best regards, Happy new year and please stay safe 🙏

I am deeply impressed!!! It is beautiful and extremely time consuming, but great art always is. I would like to sand down the edge until it’s completely matt as to get a contrast and accentuate the spiral shape. I think that would be very cool.
I am glad you enjoyed the video. Let me know if you have any questions and I will answer them as best as I can. Please share the video if you liked it. 🙏
Thank you so much for this thorough tutorial! At 21:26, is that some kind of sanding bit you are using on the dremel tool? Does it pretty much function as a more precise alternative to manually using squares of sandpaper?
The tool you see is nothing but a simple bit with sandpaper wrapped around it. I take a bit I don't use, wrap the sandpaper around and use a little bit of white glue.

I should remind you again, This is NOT a technique to cut a bottle and waist some time. Don't do this if your think "OK, I did it now what I do with it?" Great work, just one suggest, you can use ice cube to run over the line once you heat the glass, this should crack the glass faster because of the temperature variation.
Great tip!
My only concern would be that if the ice is not applied precisely, it could cause the crack to propagate in undesired directions. Use caution.
@@CutterMasterArt What would happen if you put the scored bottle in an oven, starting room temp, slowly raising to high temperatures?

A bit stunned you are doing it with out gloves of any sort. Having worked around glass somewhat in my past, I learned over time to use the gloves. Ugh, how I hated it when I got tiny shards stuck in my hands.
with fragile pieces like that , gloves will make you not have a very good feel of how much pressure you apply.

@@CutterMasterArt yes that is what I meant 👍 it would look like the glass is wrapped around the “wine”.( that’s what I imagine it would look like)🙂
I have to think of a way to do this. I don't know how but there must be a way
Amazing art!
You can try for yourself and figure out a way
You can always add the label at the end

A very unique technique, love it. keep showing us other arts on bottles. may god bless your talent.
Thank you - there are many more videos to watch. You can find them in my channel
Well my first one broke, I guess I'll just have to drink another bottle of wine! Fantastic excuse! Thank you, I'll try again when I''m sober!
It will take a lot of practice before you get your first bottle all in one piece. To be honest, my first perfect bottle happened after a few weeks of practice.
I am on my third unsuccessful attempt.. The first crack is going wrong.. I think i am heating the same point for long... Will keep trying...
My first bottle broke, too. It was thin glass. A Welch's grape juice bottle.
