Your channel is well done and presents reality without hype. I do not own an RV (my sister-in-law does). However, I have extensive training and experience in quality assurance and worked worldwide. I’m intrigued by these consumer testimonials and the replies by the manufacturers and dealers. This industry will not improve until consumers stop buying bad RVs. Either the builders overhaul their companies, or bankrupt. Dealers are only in the middle; they can’t rebuild the RV and stay in business. It appears that new buyers are putting way too much faith in the warranty to solve any defects; buyers need to switch focus to the build quality as received and not have to rely on warranty service.

The multitude of independent individual UA-cam channels reporting on negative and frankly devastating customer experiences with new RVs (and shady used RVs too) has definitely caused wife and I to re-evaluate our planned new RV purchases for the upcoming summer season. Add the outrageous price increased for rigs and campsites we have decided to do a hybrid airbnb, hotel, and car camping trips. Liz has done a wonderful thing 👏 ❤️ by letting the public hear the unvarnished owner experiences-she should be commended. We have enjoyed her journey from the early Paul days. Thanks again Liz for opening our eyes goo👍

I wouldn’t buy anything from Thor or any of it’s subsidiary manufacturers. Once Thor buys an RV manufacturer out, quality and customer service go in the trash.
Most RV’s of today are of unacceptable quality considering the amount of money they rob from hard working people.

I will say this, the Riverstone had hands down the best initial quality of any fifth wheel I looked at. Many other brands had shockingly poor quality and craftsmanship or mechanical issues while still sitting on the lot. I walked through several different Riverstone rigs at three different dealerships and all had the best initial quality. However as I’ve discovered looks can be deceiving. Had I had a dependable and reputable dealership my experience would be a little frustrating, not the mind numbing nightmare it’s been with Unlimited. Forest River stood by their product when I made the trip back to their plant!

I bought a Forest River truck camper.. my first foray into campers and wow! I can not believe how cheaply these things are made... the exterior isnt so bad, so far... but the interior has got the be the rattiest cheapest bunch of crap Ive ever seen. The flimsiest materials all weakly stappled together.. Im constantly fixing stuff its crazy. Now Im noticing the raisable roof isnt coming down square and now sits to the side. Its a real shame because I love the idea of a truck camper but its getting ruined for me pretty badly.

I couldn't agree more. The dealership is a joke and shouldn't be allowed to sell to anyone. Granted it took a 20 hour round trip ticket, but Forest River stood behind their product and did amazing work to correct all the issues Unlimited RV didn't want to or couldn't resolve.

I had a Forest River travel trailer, biggest piece of junk on the road. Leaked in the roof from day 1. @ years in and I have to replace the floor and part of a wall, at my expense till I finally got ahold of the manufacturer, that pissed my dealer off because now they knew he was up to no good with customer service.

My first RV was an 07 Winnebago Journey Class A Diesel. I bought it at a Camping World. This had a host of issues (3 windows wouldn't budge when trying to open (they were bent / crooked). There was an eggshell crack in the rear bumper that I noticed right after delivery, and it had a tube TV above the cockpit that rattled when driving. It took me forever to get it fixed. Camping World's fix for the tube TV rattle was to drive a wooden block above the cabinet of the TV which ended up bowing the plastic TV and cracking it. (and I found a cigarette in the toilet after a repair visit). They basically broke the TV and said that was the best they could do. Winnebago (to their credit), sent a rep and he agreed with my complaint. He sent me to a dealer in PA (I live in NJ) and they fixed everything and even re-detailed the RV and gave me a proper walkthrough. They became my primary dealer and I'd never go anywhere else for service when I owned my next 3. Tom Schaeffers in PA. These guys actually have RVIA service techs who have won competitions on diagnosing problems. I still will never purchase another one as I can't take the non-stop problems with RVs, but if you need a reputable servicing dealer, these guys are the BEST.

Brake lines are critical. My brakes were "valving" my calipers under pressure due to inner lining of brake hose deterioration and plugging. If your brakes don't release, replace all flexible brake lines.

I bought a Class A 2 years ago that was made in 2012 by a great manufacturer. I paid for an independent inspection that found 7 issues. The dealer fixed the issues, so we were told, and everything looked good. Flew into the city to take delivery for the 3 day drive home. Left in the morning. First night we stayed at a campground. Next morning the leveling jacks would not come up. Called the dealer and they had no advice on what to do. Searched the internet and found out how to force them up. That night we got back on the road. Stayed at another campground. Next morning, one of the slides wouldn't come in. Called the dealer who had no idea what I should do. 6 hours later I figured out how to do it manually with the help of a few other campers. Later that day, I turned on the AC system. Our unit is a tag axle with 3 ACs on the roof. The AC in the bedroom in back started making a horrific noise and it seized up. Third and final day we were finally near home and it starts to rain hard. I turn on the wipers and after 15 to 20 minutes, the wiper on my side, the driver side, goes flying off the RV onto the highway. I exited at the next truck stop and bought some RainX. Put it on the windshield in the rain. It didn't last long, but we got home. Did I mention that the all in one washer/dryer also didn't work? We decided to test it that second night because I had gotten my clothes very dirty while working on the rv. A few days after we got home, my wife says I made a big mistake buying the rig. However, I new the rig was built well originally and the problems were likely due to no maintenance and a dealer who had a horrible service department. They clearly had not fixed all of the issues found. The $1,900 inspection I paid for didn't catch the washer/dryer issue. I spent about $9,500 to fix everything, with me doing some of the easier jobs. My local RV repair place did the rest. Since then, we've done 4 big trips of over 2,000 miles and a short trip of around 400 miles. Everything is working fine and we're happy. We just understand that we need to set aside $5,000 a year to keep the beast running. Lessons we learned? A certified inspector is a must before a purchase. That said, they will likely miss a few things. Next, never trust a dealer to tell you the truth. Most, but not all, are liars and they will sell you a crap RV with a big smile. Furthermore, don't buy an RV that was made during 2008 thru 2010...or 2020 through 2024. Finally, buy a roadside service plan and then expect a failure periodically. If you set aside 5% a year of what you paid for the used rig, your war chest of cash will get you through it all.

I’ve been a 35 year RV’r. 8 different rigs plus a slide in camper over that time. The industry HAS gotten worse. My current rig is a class A Winnebago gas coach. Built in May 2021, now has 36,000 miles. We are VERY pleased with the build quality. Not many issues with the coach outside of a few loose things that were fixed. Minor by comparison but we did have issues with the dealer. Substandard work on what I call accessories, accessories not made by Winnebago. Propane regulator, step motor, backup camera, dump valve, and other items we each have from one or two OEM suppliers. The industry should be ashamed not to have better QC on built and repair. Better QC from OEM manufacturers too.
Was my 1996 Winnebago built better. I think so, but it also was more simple. No slides, no inverter, no cameras, no TV, etc.
    less to break.
Once the warranty was over I never went back to the dealer.i know a small service shop that does a better job. And fortunately or unfortunately, i know how to fix many things on them.
But channels like this and social media may help improve the situation for all of us.
I LOVE being an RV’r, but it’s not what the industry sells you.
    Thank you for your videos

Thanks for the follow up on this rig. When I saw the first video on Darren's rig I commented that the service manager had no appetite for the problem that his team created. I also wanted to give the owner the benefit of the doubt but his initial response to Darren after you contacted him indicate that the problems are systemic and probably not isolated to this one rig.
I know you are not trying to point fingers but educating folks on what questions to ask, getting an inspection and how to find a dependable dealer is priceless. I recently upgraded to a diesel pusher and thought I got a good deal from a good dealer. Turns out they didn't have the level of experience they needed to address some known issues with the Aqua Hot system and as a result, during a recent cold snap, one of the heating coils ruptured. Not only did I not have heat with the outside temps of 10 degrees (30 inside using multiple electric heaters), but I had no water! As I was already full timing in the rig, this was a nightmare week having to deal with these temps. They proceeded to hem and haw when they found out the replacement parts would cost over $2500 but they are trying to make it right now. They have had the rig longer than I have at this point. I was supposed to hit the road next week full time now that the house is sold and I am not sure when I will be getting the rig back.
Keep up the great work. Many of us out here are learning from your efforts.

I bought a Forest River Sunseeker class C. I paid for inspection- they found several issues. I also inspected the rig myself and found other issues.
Test everything before signing. Test drive and listen if something does not sound right !
Put your head inside all the outside storage compartments - you will find they are not sealed properly ! I found this on several different manufacturers units including the one I purchased !!
Inspect/ Crawl under the RV. I’ve seen several that were not done properly including a few at Tampa RV show !!!
Overall I was pleased with my purchase. All issues were resolved
I would personally stay away from RV’s build during the mad pandemic surge. Manufacturers needed parts on short timeframes to meet demands and I bet corners were cut.

I had a bulge in the front underside of my 2011 Montana and discovered that the badly-designed and poorly-executed (manufacturer) support bar for the black tank and grey tank had bent over time and allowed the tanks to sag. The weight of these two tanks eventually cracked the ABS plastic and had them leak. I repaired the tanks as best I could, and then I used water-heater earthquake straps to securely suspend the tanks from the steel framing and tossed the bent bars into the trash. What reminded me of this is that I, too, found my coroplast mostly ripped off. I secured it with about 50 feet of rope until I got home.

I have to say that my Geo-Pro, built by Rockwood under the Forest River umbrella, has exceeded my expectations. It hasn't been perfect but 2.5 years and 12k miles in and still going strong. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the build including the structure, cabinetry and general fit and finish. I know it's apples and oranges because this video is discussing a large fifth wheel when I'm in a small bumper pull trailer but I just wanted to let folks know that Forest River does also produce, in my opinion, some quality products. I feel for this man and anyone who has to live through the disappointment of a shoddy product, especially because we all dream of living on the road and the adventures that entails. We all know issues will occur but we sure don't expect them to occur before we get to walk across the threshold.

Liz, you are Amazing ! I can't thank you enough for exposing everything that is wrong with the way the RV Industry has chosen to do business . I could share my own nightmares.. but would rather offer any help to keep your momentum going ! Your approach has been beyond fair when confronting and exposing things to those who have the power to make change .. Liz, you're just trying to give all of us that have been taken advantage of a voice , and all you're asking is for those in the Industry who would like to demonstrate integrity and pride .. to come forward and take a bow . .and explain when we will see change In the industry...that's a fair question . For those who don't acknowledge how wrong they have done the consumers .. well I hope they can sleep at night .. but if they can't.. give them my number to call, because I'm wide awake. Thank you again Liz .. hope to see you out on the road one of these days , I'd like to shake your hand! Todd Fox

Liz you are doing a wonderful job interviewing people with bad rigs. I wish you had millions of viewers as this needs to reach more people. Until more people stop buying the crap put out by the builders and I call them builders as most don't manufacture the units. They put together parts from ll sorts of suppliers. I would call Winnebago a manufacture of their named products, not the products like Grand Design that they now own and the quality has gone down hill since they bought GD. Amazing how many 5th wheel frame breaking issues GD is having. We sold our Class C and were going to buy a new trailer but so far decided to wait because of the crap being built and the crazy high prices. We may instead go back to an older coach. At this time it is a waiting game for us. Again thank you for all you are doing for the RV community. Stay healthy and Blessed.

It’s actually upsetting for me to watch these videos. Why? Because it brings back so many memories and emotions because of the troubles that I had with my RV. It’s been years, but these videos bring it all back. My heart breaks for these folks who’ve spent their hard earned savings on a RV from an industry that’s ill equipped to deal with their poor designs and inept service workers. I could write a book on just the things that happened with my rig. I swear it subtracted years from my life. Today, I’d be hesitant to go the RV route even if one were given to me free.

What is the most common thread among people who bought a new RV and had major problems? They did not hire an independent inspector. This specific case is a great example of someone who thought they were qualified to inspect the RV themselves. A proper independent inspection would have found a grocery list of problems that he didn't find until it was too late. I can guarantee that he still has problems that he doesn't even know about that an RV inspector would find.

@@LizAmazing I've never heard of these independent inspectors and I've worked in the RV industry for 25 years. There is no training or certification for "independent inspectors". You're taking just as big a risk hiring one of them and paying them for their "knowledge" as you are buying an RV. I have worked for Gulfstream the past 8 years and no one I have talked to in the corporate offices have heard of them either.

If someone is so angry that they take the time to share it with others, then I can trust it, because even if they are exaggerating, I lose nothing. If, however, I can handle whatever negative thing they said (like they didn't like the color, or it smelled of plastic for a few days, etc... ) then I can either purchase, find a different brand, or skip it altogether.

You’re doing a great service to the general public. The RV industry has used their money, power & influence in a way that has become genuinely harmful to the public. It should be nearly impossible for a company to produce such a bad product these days yet there are certain industries that have flown under the radar. RV manufacturers have created a monopoly, buying up every new & decent competitor, so that the quality of their product is irrelevant (or at least not harmful to their bottom line). Consumers MUST revolt or NOTHING WILL CHANGE!!!!! If consumers stop being impulsive & ignorant, the manufacturers will be forced to care about quality. As long as consumers continue to buy crap, manufacturers will continue to make CRAP! The moral of the story is that buying any of the 98% of RV’s is a nightmare that WILL HAPPEN! Couldn’t pay me to own an RV made since 2020. Greed has destroyed an industry with tremendous potential. RV’s could have been a solution to the insane housing crisis facing our country. Instead it’s a pipe dream because of GREED!!!

If you have the urge, rent one for a couple weeks.
Then if you must but, get one built before 2018. And for heavens sake, get it inspected by two competent inspectors. My current RV is a Best Westen... no, the hotel chain. For the price of an RV, i figure i could spend about a month a year in a hotel for the rest of my life.

You made one Hugh statement that caught my ear when you mentioned higher end rigs as a better option. I have a 36d7 forest river motor home and lived full time in it first 2 years until we just purchased a new home, my friend has a prevost and he spend 6 times what I did, he has the same crappy dishwasher you do, same faucets, same water pump and tanks etc starting to get the point? Paying more money for an Rv just gets you deeper in debt with the same stuff as a 50,000 rig. On my 3rd forest river product and have lived full time in each. Very very few issues and I have never had to take one back for any issues. I’m no mechanic either and now 69 years old. In conclusion more expensive rig means little in the Rv industry for fit and finish.

Sorry for your RV problems and all the stress you have dealt with.Saying that I learned two valuable lessons about RVs my first 6 months of ownership.Number one was the warranty. After a grey tank repair that took 6 months I said to my self that I will never ever grace a dealership with my camper’s presence.I will take a loss and repair it the best I can and live with it.RVs are always going to need repairs learn as much as you can and repair it yourself. The second lesson I learned was never buy new.The warranty is not worth the extra money.I say that because I tried to trade my camper after a few months to up grade and found out my 10k I put down was exactly what it depreciated the moment I pulled it off the lot.Two valuable lessons learned.I now own it free and clear and plan on keeping it and using it till my maker calls me home. This is just my two cents worth.Keep up the videos Liz.
