I love how Ngannou made sure to restart Overeem's heart when he was on the ground by hitting him again. What a guy.
He failed the first time and because he was such a gentleman he went for a second hammerfist. But ref decided let a professional do the work and get a doctor in here.

that punch was terrifying, likely the most brutal ko i have ever seen, punches like that can kill you
Chito Vera's KO of Frankie Edgar was way worse. I'd rather be ko'd by a punch than a reverse axe-kick any day.
Edit: The OP said this was "the most brutal ko" for them. I disagree, I think being kicked up the face *looked* nastier, like it may disfigure your face while Nagannou's uppercut was much cleaner. Obviously Ngannou hits much harder and does more damage, but that wasn't the subject of my statement.

Sent me for a few seconds to the SR as well and snapped out of it when I realised I'm sitting in front of the Tele.

@@nebojsabozic2146 they’re talking about the KO shot genius
Something people don't talk about a lot is how much Ngannou's chin contributes to his power. If you look at the slowmo footage, Overeem landed an overhand left on Ngannou right before the KO, it just didn't even register. The reason he's able to move forward and throw so hard is because he knows any counter his opponent throws won't affect him. In the first Miocic fight, by the time Ngannou was significantly gassed, Miocic started landing some hard combinations that could kill most men square on the chin. It was like he was hitting a heavybag. There was no threat of concussive damage at any point. Mans got maybe the strongest chin in UFC history.
EDIT: To all the ppl talking trash after the AJ fight, nothing that I said has changed. He still has an insane chin. I never said he was impossible to KO, nobody is. But if you go up against a much better boxer, your chin is going to get pushed to its limit, and thats exactly what happened. Also, I wrote this before the Fury fight, which only proved my point.
The fact that his only two losses are decisions is not an accident. He hits like a freight train but also has an iron chin. He can get through their punches and knows they won't survive his.
He may have a strong chin but that has nothing to do with this fight

Ngannou used a similar left hook to drop Tyson Fury in the 3rd round of their fight. I never expected Ngannou to even be *competitive* against the heavyweight boxing champ, but a lot of people (including myself) leaned more toward Ngannou getting the decision when it was all over. It could've gone either way, but regardless, the fact that an old man MMA champ with zero boxing fights, not even a single amateur boxing fight, shook the hell out of Tyson Fury is remarkable. This is a big setback for Tyson Fury and it makes him look really bad. Or, perhaps, Francis Ngannou has just secretly been the world's the best heavyweight boxer all along, and he only shared this big secret with the world last night.
The second option is the truth. Fury actually looked good, I doubt that Usyk or Wilder would have survived that night.

You can see here and at other points of this fight that when striking, Ngannou uses a stance more commonly seen in boxing--he has his lead foot pointed inward, as this allows for better boxing mobility.
Standing like this can cause you serious problems when you face opponents who use a lot of leg kicks (Gane, Jones), especially oblique kicks. But I don't remember if Improved Francis still stood like this against Stipe (and also Stipe isn't known for kicks).
Anyway, just some things I see
Or maybe like a snapping turtle he puts his leg out there as bait and then strikes
Nice observation
Didn't work for Gane or Stipe
@@heavypunches Stipe doesn't use kicks, his legs are ridiculously short for a HW making them ineffective and risky to throw. Francis had to use his wrestling to beat Ciryl and even then it was pretty close. Or..."You know what scares me most about Donald Trump's hair? Is that it looks like someone stapled a dead skunk to his head and then dyed it blonde to match his eyebrows." Scary scary scary!!! Absolutely terrifying!!! (Biting nails)
And just so you know, a punch doesn't have to land flush or solid to knock someone out. It simply has to land in the right place when a person is not expecting it or when they are unable to see it coming. Many people have been put out cold from half thrown jabs by men much smaller than Francis. So it should be of no surprise that a widely thrown uppercut with the proper turn of the hips that connects with the target at specific points of a person's face or head will likely shut someone's lights off even if it is a glancing blow thrown by a person 1/2 of Ngannou's size. They wont fight
Pretty sure he has the most powerful punch ever recorded.
@@jessejames2914 Defined by the results of a test no one uses. That’s like me saying I’m the strongest man because I can carry the most peppermints ever recorded. No one measures that way so it’s invalid
@@zeus9902 you can't deny he has one of the most powerful punches in the world
I didn't even think that Alistair ever lost. If you see his wins, you'd think that he is unbeatable and undisputed. Wow
THANK GOD FOR THE REF. HE SAVED THAT FIGHTER LIFE.
Litteraly
Imagin if alistair would eat 3 or 4 punch in head. He would be surely dead, for real
GOAT of MMA Francis
This is... murder, never seen someone being KO'ed with such brutality.
Casual.

1:10 Ngannou's power gonna kill someone

No one:
Joe Rogan: BOOOM! And then boom.
1:14 The punch was so hard the moment it hit Overeem, he was knocked out upon contact. That punch reminded me of Mike Tyson's signature combo
1:13 that puch by Francis🔥
Well done.
Yes, very hard puch.
I honestly thought ovreem would retire after that ko. That was so brutal then then the follow up strike.
Life-altering, soul-vanishing, toe-curling punch! 😬
lol this is the best comment!!
honestly that fight call "down goes the reem" has to be one of the greatest calls in ufc history
I still don't understand what Overeem's game plan was in this fight. He's a far more experienced striker than Ngannou (especially back then). He had better kicks, better clinch work, better submissions and better overall grappling. I know that he wasn't able to do much with Ngannou in their only clinch sequence, but that doesn't mean you resort to trading punches with the biggest knockout threat in the division.
He was also using a lot of head movement with zero defense, lunging in, he lunged in with a straight at the start and almost got caught.. really bizarre gameplan even crazier considering reem called him out
Overeem was used to being the bully, the feared one. So he stood in there…ooops!!
Overeem just does that sometimes. Sometimes his game plan makes no sense.
I think he wanted to prove a point like I’m the scary one let’s trade but ubereem’s time is over he should have kept it technical and smart although i think ngannou would still get the ko but I’ll tell you this prime Overeem would destroy ngannou
@@TheGarlicfather prime overeem couldn't do anything against punching like Mike Tyson Francis
I thank God for saving Overeem's life, seeing his feet curling while he was on ground is a big sign of transitioning and I was so frightened.
Show this to your kid if he ever tells you he wants to be a mma fighter. He'll become a doctor instead.
Frances got robbed against Fury.
It was close so it wasn't a robbery. I thought Fury edged it but it was a terrible fight to be honest.
However he did a great job lying unconscious against Joshua.
Imagine how Stipe felt when he saw that.. 😬
Well this fight was before their first fight but he managed to win
stipe got that immigrant mentality, no problem

Knocked him out so hard his feet came together to pray.
Man 🙏🙏😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you made me laugh. 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍
Overeem had a brain fart here. His overall game was much more rounded than Ngannou even today, let alone in 2017, but decades of fighting and no juice made him a glass cannon, and Ngannou has crazy power. Should've trying to fight more defensively, but somehow he engaged Ngannou as if he's still an Ubereem instead of Econoreem.
Edit: that being said Ngannou was able to block Reem's clinch, so clinch only work had it was Overeem in peak Ubereem mode, who handled Brock.
Overeem had a TON of head movement and Ngannou was still able to track him. Ngannous boxing is on another dimension
2 of the biggest strongest fighters in the world going at it, unbelievable
What amazes me is how relatively normal, almost small, Overeem looks next to Ngannou. Sure, he's definitely lost weight/mass from his peak mass monster look, but he's still a giant dude by any standards
Imagine waking up from being knocked out to the announcer declaring your opponent the winner. Oof… that’s got to suck.
Joe Rogan: he's dead but i cant say that on air!
😂😂😂
Francis has legitimate life-altering punching power.
nah mike tyson did and he was a natural athlete...francis is not.
@@kyloren6536 Francis is artificial Right you clown
@@kyloren6536 Francis is as natural as they come he’s been working in the sand mines since a child and all he eats is meat and rice the perfect food for muscle growth
There's always someone bigger and badder. Everyone meets their match...It's just human nature, but overeem will always be a legend 💪🏼💯
This was the first and only time I have ever seen only one fighter with the referee when they announced the winner. Truly is a real life one punch man! He will be missed in UFC.
It happens all the time
Literally 99% of Jon Jones fights end with only him and the referee standing in the ring to announce the winner 😂
Then you're not a fan.

Alastair overseen is a Big, Strong and Tough heavyweight. This is why Francis’ punches are so scary, even after waking up from the knockout, Alastair can’t even stand when they are declaring the winner, and has to sit on a stool.
