Amtrak Cab Ride Aboard Amtrak Heritage Unit 822 - Pre Accident Footage

- Here's some one of a kind footage I re-discovered from Amtrak's Autumn Express in 2015 which traveled from Albany, NY to East Deerfield, MA, passing through the world famous Hoosac tunnel!
This train was being lead by Amtrak #Heritage Unit #822 and #145. Since this video, number 822 was involved in an accident and has been taken out of service, so this view from the cab is a pretty neat piece of history!
Please share with all who love trains and history, thanks! - Розваги
Excellent. Been a while since I got to hold a train in my lap and watch and listen to it do what a train does. Love trains and miss seeing them.
Thank you! I'm hopeful to get some more cab rides this year.
Amtrak 822 was used during national train day 2012. I remember it coming into Grand central. Those were the days. RIP 822
That's a great memory to have!
Priceless. Thank you for sharing this.
You're very welcome!
I hope you have more footage of that Autumn Excursion where that came from!
I sure do! I have the full ride through from this side and from the back of the train coming West to East. I also have a few shorter clips of crossing a few of the bridges, coming through the "Mini-Hoosac" and rolling through Greenfield.
Thank you for the comment!

When did this locomotive crash
It was around two and a half years ago. It was in the Beechgrove shops in IN at least since October, 2020.
@@Imrfilms no that was a video that Amtrak 822 crash before October it crash in April
Then they have the repair amtrak 822 then scrap it for good
That all I hear from Amtrak 822 lot of it video
Does anyone know anything about 822 I kept hearing it was scraped but I don't believe them does anyone have an update on it's where abouts
Right now it's out in Beech Grove, Indiana at the shops storage facility. Here's a drone video from around a month ago which shows it sitting out there in line with a bunch of other units. Unsure of the status of rebuilding vs. scrapping.
(Unit is at the 4:15 mark in video)

Have you seen Amtrak heritage unit #156 before because I just heard it was in a accident
I've never seen 156. And yes, it was in an accident and is OOS currently. I did catch 161 in Florida this past summer, which is also a Phase I with the "50th Anniversary" on it, which was pretty cool!
@@Imrfilms 156 was on think sadly ended up scrapped cause of the damage
@@unionpacificrailfan1943 Awe, that stinks! At least they still have 161.
@@Imrfilms yea
@@unionpacificrailfan1943 and did you see Amtrak 156 The roof what is broke off of Amtrak 156
Is 822 never gonna return?
I'm honestly not sure. I hope it returns!
@@Imrfilms me too! That’s my favorite heritage unit! I saw it in 2015!
@@PeanutsAndSanrioFan Is it because of the Phase III paint scheme or the number? Ever seen 145 or the Empire service units? They're also Phase III. 145 spent a lot of time on my local Vemonter train these past few months along with 100 (Midnight Blue) and a few runs of 46 with the "50 Years of Connecting America" emblem on the side!
@@Imrfilms yeah
@@Imrfilms plus I saw videos of it at Strasburg and I cannot believe I saw that same engineB
Is there a full videos of this
I have the full video of the train going through the Hoosac tunnel. The one shot from the locomotive has no sound (removed it purposely). I also have a full vid of the tunnel from the rear of the train as it was going the other direction.
Thanks for the comment!

Too cool to ride along in the Cab. What was the accident?
Thank you! Honestly, I'm not sure what the accident was. (Need to look more into that!) I saw on the Heritage Unit app and a few websites that it's out of service due to an accident.
Amtrak 822 has been reactivated into service again
That's great news, thanks for the update!
@@Imrfilms your welcome, how did it get into the accident and how it happen
@@unionpacificrailfan1943 I actually am not 100% sure. I think it struck a car.
@@Imrfilms it's fine if your not 100% sure
