Let me share my experience With a Racechip S ( lowest variant ) I gained a 15 hp and 60 Nm increase on my audi a4 b7 2.7 tdi. 195-210 hp and 380-440 Nm, dpf is deleted and it has a k&n panel filter It was measured on dynojet. Ive had it for the past two years, no engine problems whatsoever
i have a 330d with a custom tune. 337.5 hp and 681 nm. 0-100 kmh depends on wheather conditions 5 - 6 seconds. 0-200 in about 19 seconds. i have a f31, so that is a bit slower because of weight and air drag.
I had an F30 330d with a custom map by GKR Performance (best in the business!) running 331bhp and 678nm just on software. It went like stink and would return 45mpg easily over a tank 👌🏻

Not everyone wants to flash their ECU. A piggyback/plug n play is more practical for people who dont plan on keeping cars for the long haul. Advertising alternatives to ECU tuning is a really great idea because again... EZ DIY power is more appealing to a majority of people. Things are subjective in life so they can advertise what they want.
Sorry to say that RaceChip's gains on a diesel with just upping common rail pressure is a myth or minimalistic at best. Remap is where the power is. Control the ECU and you control boost!
Yes I used a tuning box like this on my audi a4 diesel. It went from 136 to 166 hp. But I doubted those values so I went to a custom map company and they tested it. It only added 14hp for 500 euro. So I did a stage 1 custom remap on the audi and now it has 240hp and 490Nm for less than 500 euros
Why not if they do the work, easy to install and uninstall in case of a problem and you can keep the ecu stock. Plus you can resell it of you don't want it anymore.
Any idea of long term reliability on those mappings? I'm always worried about that, especially since I love my 330d (and regret not being able to get a 335d instead or a 550m). Should I change the intercooler for safety? I'm looking at 300hp and 600nm remap and car is already 200 000km... 😮
just get a tune from a good tuner. TÜV will kill you with racechip installed, but they wont notice a remap and it's way more and safer power for the same money
Thanks for the video. I was thinking about getting a RaceChip for my North American 535d, but now I think I’m going to stay out. It has the same engine as the 330d in the video and I dont see any improvements in 0-100 and 1/4 mile times. Those are more important figures in real world than 0-200 anyway.
The performance increase you get from a tuning box will be negligible at best where it counts, it's a method of tricking the ECU into thinking it's under-fuelling the engine to increase injector pressure. It destroys injectors, heats up catalytic converters and as I said prior, not for much extra power. You're better off going for a custom remap by a reputable dealer, preferably one with a warranty. It generally works out similar in cost but yields better, dyno-able results and doesn't fudge up your consumption gauge (as an engine that doesn't understand how much it's fuelling itself doesn't know how much fuel it's drinking). For a 535d, if you've got the E6x generation you ought to be looking at around 350hp with a good remap, the F1x generation will yield closer to 380hp. I've got a 435dx and a good remap dropped my 0-60 to sub-4 seconds and a quarter mile of mid-high 12s.

RaceChip only sends you a generic chip for your model and you have to install it and prey that works. They don't adapt it for your specific car and engine, they don't roll your car on a dyno for checking if there is anything going wrong, they don't do anything.
Crazy people use these dog shit race chips, all they do is boost fuel pressure...sometimes to unsafe levels. AND the price of them!!, not far off a custom tune tailored to YOUR (I.e not generic) engine parameters on a rolling road.

did you buy a fake $25 one on ebay? Plug n Plays like Racechip, Bootmod3, and JB4 work... just dont expect 100HP from them. A good piggy back will give you 30whp+ minimum. If you want more power then buy a faster car. Otherwise lower your expectations.
It's an automatic, so he's not shifting himself, also diesels make their peak power before redline so in higher gears it would be useless to shift at redline
I'm a petrol guy but i'm running a c320cdi at the moment. Got it from a friend super cheap. It's actually pretty quick after 60mph. If anything it's compromised on the 0-60 as it has to use 1st, 2nd and 3rd to get to 60. It's also chipped to 270bhp. Brabus chip, which came with the car.

The 0-100 is almost identik. The 1/4mile is also almost identik. 100-200 makes a bit different. We saw on the golf 8 gti that it makes huge differenc but on the bmw they failed!!!

stage 1 will murder the race chip version. I had a race chip on my 320d and it did absolutely nothing...

It's very impressive but kind of pointless in the UK. I want something with a bit more power but dont need to high end performance
The extra torque you get with a Stage 1 tune is quite handy (650nm), making overtakes a breeze.

I am using a DTUK tuning box on mine and I am getting sub 5 seconds on 0-100kph.... easy to use and set up - I'm well impressed..
It's a beast even without chip, stock map is more than enough for everybody.

Interesting 0-100 and 1/4 mile times are pretty much the same, however 100-200 time is much better.
Because of the wheel spin. If you hook this up in a car that can put down the power, it makes a difference
