I have the same exact 2000 intruder vs800 and couldn't find anything out there rather than your work as a guide to follow during my adventure to replace the stator on mine. I'm halfway now and crossing my fingers for a good luck to finish this project 😅
@@christopherjpeters by any chance can you explain how can i take off the starter motor, i have 98 model vs 800 and got problem on starter motor bike wont start, needs to be fixed and there is no information about this bike, how to remove and install it back, thank you so much for explaining details like that
Unfortunately I've never done that before but it looks pretty wedged in there above the stator. I know there is a thin metal cover over it that I removed once but that's the extent. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

Wheres the starter motor at? I have the same bike and cant find any information on its location
It's under a metal cover behind the ignition switch. In the center just behind the second posting jug.

How did you get the screws out?
I think I ended up using a pair of vice grips to break them free
