Wow ! 35-40 an hour sounds real nice !! Thank you for sharing! Im currently in school for OTA right now and I start my actual classes in person next year JAN 2022!
So you would be able to be a PRN as an independent contractor as well? would you recommend being both of those at once? I’m starting my school in a few months and i’m wondering which route to take being independent leaves you more money in your pocket until tax seasons but being a PRN it could no be so reliable i feel Do you like being a PRN or would you prefer to be full time?
I work as a independent contractor and PRN as well. It just all depends up to you, but during tax season you will always owe. If you do PRN work you may need to have at least 3 jobs to stay busy.. I honestly do not like the idea of being a FT clinician working in one setting. I feel like the burnout is higher that way.
@@goldkissed thanks for responding! but yeah i definitely agree i wouldn’t want to be in one setting either because it could get very repetitive and old. Do you feel being a independent contractor/PRN is more rewarding pay wise than if you were to work in one setting? If you don’t know that would totally make sense :)
Absolutely not. Not enough pay and career growth. I am in a transition trying to figure out where to go from here. Its okay for right now though... look into home health.. it pays well. Thats how I kinda feel about the RN thing as well.
Hi I live in LA too and will be starting COTA school too …. What school did you attend? I’m about to go to this school for COTA and it cost 50k … do you think it would be worth taking the loans out?
@@brngflower2289 CBD college, is that the one youre going to? i think thats the only one thats 50k here lmao. and id recommend it but try to pay as much out of pocket as you can
I’m PRN as a PTA in Acute Care Rehab. It is my first job out of school and it pays really well but I keep getting canceled due to low census. I’m definitely going to have to get a couple more PRN jobs or start looking for full time.
Yes, I would suggest having 2-3 PRN’s if you don’t get a FT role.. Maybe consider doing home health? You can juggle that with your acute job and the pay is good..
I’m interested to become a OTA but I want it to see if really like it , that right I started with OTA if I had the associate degree how long it will take me to had my Master degree
Wait..hold up..did you say you hope to get up to 80 hours a week?!!! Just checking...that seems a bit much Also, how many patients do you see per week between the multiple jobs? Great video btw😊
Hey can u tell me i m a 12 grade student and wanna apply for occupational therapist can i go for nursing after that and what is the pay after completing the diploma and is it easy to find this job... Hope u will response ❤️🥀
Sweetie..oh goodness I miss being this young minded. To answer your question, it's best to pick a path & stick with that. Please shadow at facilities to see if you'd like it. Do not waste the time & money doing OT when you want to be a nurse. It doesn't work like that. And to find a job easy? In this vid she stated as a new grad she couldn't find full time work, and ended up with multiple PRN. Ota is a lot more challenging to find steady work..nursing is not. I've literally gone to school for both & highly recommend you shadow. You have to TRULY know what you want. Any medical field career will NOT be easy & will take a LOT of dedication. You will need to be passionate about it & sacrifice SO much in order to get it. Anything worth it in life never comes easy
I’m in the DFW and a new grad from OTA school. What area are you in? I would love to make $75-90k as a new grad. !! Any tips on negotiating rates as PRN and being a new grad?

Thank you so much for this video! ❤️ I graduate OTA school next year and PRN is the route I wanna go!
You welcome ☺️get about 3 different PRN roles and you should be fine.
Also do you know if we're able to work fulltime hours in home health or just part time? I understand it's up to clients
You can work either or
Can we get more OTA videos?
I will try! Life got so busy!

@Gold Kissed is it hard to find a job after completing the Cota program
As a certified occupational therapist assistant
I wouldn’t say hard but not as much opportunities for COTA’s out there. Majority of jobs are in the home health field
How long did it take you to get your associates and did you do CC fully?
It took me 1.5 yrs, but I was a recent university graduate so I had all of my prerequisites completed already
do you plan to be an OTA rest of your career? im about to be in my last module and im concerned w the pay rates here in LA .. kinda wish i did RN tbh
