People say Berserk is unadaptable, yet this was done 24 years ago on a shoestring budget. Just shows that ambition, passion, and a smart use of resources can make anything possible.
Honestly I prefer the look the 90’s anime give off compared to the newer art style don’t get me wrong I love the new animations too such as what studio mappa has accomplished but for berserk i think the older/poorer quality fits berserk I feel like it gives off a more authentic feel idk that’s just me
@@Chentay502 Yeah, back in the 90’s they made some pretty detailed anime (generally). But that authentic feel of animating didn’t get as much attention/recognition it deserved since its audiences were just on younger side. So I guess they had to cut down on costs somehow & sacrificed quality over quantity. For most anime, I’d rather they have 2 seasons than 1 high-quality season, but either way, it’s going to be expensive. Some even only have 1 season because they’re low quality. Otherwise they wouldn’t have been discovered as an anime. Wonder if the Berserk anime will ever get a reboot…
That's the "interesting" thing about it in my opinion. Griffith literally looks up to Guts. For this very reason , he doesnt understand how someone with guts skills/raw natural battle sense remains disconnected from the material ambition. Until Casca grew on him internally. Guts grew to love who she was ! Not who she APPEARED to be. Griffith cant say the same , he got the kingdom and stagnated. Guts kept his self , forever changing and bettering himself threw battle. Now his reason to live is for others. Quite literally Guts is an OMEN to life. He is Death Itself. Nothingness in this realm of life. He finds peice within silence and solitude. Therefore God has punished guts with eternal life. For he embraces his fears and death without even thinking about it. Souly following his own path. The shrouded path..... I believe guts truly wants all form of life to end , for he knows life is the source of torture and pain and sorrow. He wants liberation , so he understands the only way is by going to hell to conquer evildoers for eternity. Quite a symbolic show to be honest. Correlation between higher and lower selfs. Guts remains centered always , not the type to fancy for parties , loyalty to others. And Griffith is another reason why he Truly doesnt trust anyone. Fighting against Destiny is his legacy in my opinion. Cheers !
@@FaithfulDevin74 how does guts want all forms of life to end and also be a omen to life if he fights for others? Doesnt he want to protect the life of his comrades because of the things he has experienced?
@@epyonsystem1869 He states his light comes from beyond. I've studied science and philosophy. And believe , guts talks of a place outside of conception or perceptional capability of humans. ("Heaven") [I used quotations because a true heaven wouldnt be possible to perceive] What seems like chaos to us, is peace to him. What I mean by that is he fights for peace and those he loves. Hes an omen , because all he ends up loving dies or dwindles away eventually. Like the gods are against him. Like the realm itself is a mirage or facade of exterior design. But the interior motives of all are selfish. When guts simply has been at peace all his life. To be stripped every other moment. When he catches a breathe to just breath. Its another event or scenario he must fight for his existence. He said himself , he rather not live his life but to fight for it. To me guts is an incarnation of the archangel or holy ghost. The most badass motherfucking spirit reincarnated into him. Hes a demon slayer. It takes a greater force to conquer evildoers. And that's guts. He came from the swells of darkness. From beyond any realm possible to any truths. When Griffith betrays him , his reality literally becomes a manifestation of hell itself. And does he give in to fear or give up ? No , he knows one thing. His sword. He trust in only one thing. And that is death itself. Guts , is death. But the cynical thing about this to me. Or sadistic in a sense , is that he truly loves everything to death. Just the way he watches nature and relaxes. You can see it. He wants peace. And to him the only way is to put every selfish person to rest by killing them. The veil was lifted and the only one to stay true to himself/form is guts

Main character who is one dimensional becomes self aware, laments his lack of depth and makes a conscious effort to become more. Its scenes like this that show character development progress.
@@cangirayicel7639 yeah a lot of Chatecter are like that, from almost any literature, it goes like this ( my experience) 1. A character is introduced, nothing really special about then. 2. Either they have a gift or something about there past. 3. They accept there failures as well as their flaws and become stronger. This is why I think Guts is so different from other characters, he was born from death, had the worst possible experience, lost his friends, was branded, and lost his love. Yet he continues on and doesn't fall into despair, rather he gets up and fights back twice as hard and if he fails again he will go again
@@roguepoison Gut's character for a while was "GRRR I am angry and have a big sword" Griffith gave him purpose, but then he began to consider that he could give himself purpose. That was good character development.

Huge loss. Im my opinion, what made Berserk so unique was how Miura managed to make his characters seem so human in a world that was anything but. Rest in peace Miura, you were one of a kind.
Anything but human? Hate to break it to ya, but that world is incredibly human. Unbearably so. Everything that happens in it, every horror, every war, every pillaging, kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, torture, it’s all human. The apostles and godhand aren’t evil because they’re demons or angels. They’re evil because they’re human. The kings and lords that sacrifice their citizens for personal comfort are no different. The bandits that raid towns and steal women are no different. Berserk’s world is the same as ours. There are good people, and despicable ones. It’s all the same.
The reason why Griffith connected with guts on a deep fundamental level, right from the start, is because he realised he and Guts are the same; Two young men, looking for purpose in life. It starts with Griffith having a purpose, a goal, and overpowering guts with it. As time passes, Guts starts realizing bit by bit that he looks up to Griffith because of it. The fire of Griffith's purpose giving Guts the first bit of warmth he so much desired. Yet, as time passes once again, Guts starts realizing that he himself is void of purpose, and that the man who he looks up to looks down on him because of it. This sets up a chain of events in which guts slowly but surely starts developing his goal, and that is to find HIS purpose in life. The difference between Guts and Griffith in this however, is that Griffith seeks it in others (the princess, the kingdom, the band of the hawk) while Guts seeks it WITHIN HIMSELF. This difference allows Guts to turn the table on Griffith, overpowering him and allowing him to leave his Band of the Hawk. The reason why Griffith starts breaking down after this, is because he realizes that Guts was successful where he was not. Guts found that true purpose can only be found within oneself, and it is now Griffith who realizes that he is empty (but also in his view, tainted and corrupted). Later, Guts realizes that he has people whom he loves, and who love him back. Kentaro Miura is setting Guts up to be the hero who conquered the dragon that is all that Guts embodies; Trauma, self-doubt, purposelessness, Anger, confusion. To give us, the readers a light in the despair that is the struggles of life. And then Kentaro Miura takes it away with a masterful stroke that is the Eclipse. How tragically beautiful. I believe that the Eclipse is the climax of the story that Berserk embodies. For it shows us clear cut the differences in what makes someone a "hero" or a "villain". Guts sacrificed himself, while Griffith sacrifices others. But sacrifices must be had regardless. Cruel perhaps, but such is life.
Yeah I can agree with that what do you think of a ending for beserk I think guts will die he has no other reason to live he can only kill griffith but he is to strong for guts and guts knows that but he keeps on going because that's all he can do
Your comment is the greatest analysis of Berserk I’ve ever read. You should start making your own videos doing character breakdowns explaining their psychology. You’re like the Dr Jordan B. Peterson of anime.
RIP Miura. Berserk has left an immense impact on my life and coming back watching these scenes and re-reading the pages makes my heart hurt. He has left the physical realm and entered the astral realm.
"The mercenary leader who raised me taught me nothing except how to wield a sword, i have never had anything ,except my sword. I don't want to die, for me that is the only reason to keep fighting. There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to, I fight because I know nothing else."
lets not forget that the mercenary also sold Guts's booty hole for gold, the Guts got his revenge on the battlefield. Important lesson to be learned there, be strong lest you be sold off to be used... or blame a stray arrow on battlefield to exact your revenge.
I always felt alot of complexity for guts about that line, all his life he's just been shadowed by death, and even at the eclipse where he is gets the brand of sacrifice, a curse that no matter how long a demon would come and try to devour him, he still fights for his life, it honestly makes people think how much could life really mean for them, even if they are constantly chased by it, thought of it, like it's the only way out of the shitty life you've had since birth. Guts literally fight for fights sake, like death is just his greatest opponent that he wants to defeat no matter what it takes.
I can really relate to this. I have no dream to give myself to. I move forward because I know nothing more than pressing forward in my life. I've been given no other option but to become more. However, I am tired. Hold a sword to the grindstone long enough and all you'll have is a pile of powdered steel.
It's burning brighter than ever as far as I can tell. Every single one of us that have read and experienced Berserk over the years will carry these characters, stories and emotions with us through the rest of our lives. Ever since I read Berserk and watched the 97' series all those years ago, I have never once stopped thinking about the story from time to time. How much one can see themselves in a character like Guts, weather it be his struggles and hardships, or always trying to find a reason to keep moving forward, will continue to be forever inspiring. Miura won't be forgotten, and neither will the amazing work he has given us. His flame will eternally burn on within all of us.
Guts is the most compelling protagonist of all time. How can you not experience his story and not just be in complete awe of him and how far he has come despite what he has had to endure?
There's something really truly beautiful about this series that's absolutely indescribable. At first glance Berserk appears to be an anime/manga solely based around brutal fights, gore and the dark ages. But in reality, it's about a man's dream and the power it holds. The power to change the world, to protect others and to fuel one's very essence. Lives of men come and go, but dreams can transcend lives and be inherited as a will. This series taught me to fight for a cause bigger than my own survival and to hold onto all the wonder I have about the universe.
Given Berserk’s theme of eternal struggle, I suppose it’s fitting that it will never see a true ending. Because the struggle never ends. I hope Kentaro was able to find some peace after life.
+ali aman Please never refer to Nietzsche as a "nihilistic philosophy". He was trying to fight against nihilism, after all! I see people make this mistake over and over, and call Nietzsche the father of the philosophy known as "nihilism". Nihilism isn't a philosophy, it is the death of it. The lack of philosophy... the death of thought and man. What you're thinking of is existentialism. Read some Nietzsche and some Kierkegaard.
As someone who has read a lot of Nietzsche, the philosopher's influence on Berzerk (however indirectly) is pretty clear to me. (I say this agreeing with SmotheredDreams that Nietzsche's philosophy is not nihilistic in any final sense, and neither, by extension, is Berserk.) That's why I'm interested to see where the author takes it - the ending of this series may represent some kind of response to Nietzsche's thought, one way or another.
@@Coffeetime110 Soon I want to get all the manga physically, now there's even bigger 3 in 1s for Berserk, also for me I didn't go to college I Work at a store now, but one of the things what I really want to do is write my own series I have done that and it will release soon. It's a novel series though
And to ensure that those weaker flames don't go out, each man casts his own into the strongest fire of them all. A raging fire that is Griffith. But my light isn't to be seen among them.
"But my light isn't to be seen among them." I get chills everytime he says that. This anime has so much soul, and Guts was so beautiully fleshed out as a character.
1. Director's were better in the 90s (fight me) 2. Anime budgets/staff quality were likely higher all around. Japan's economy crashed in the 90s, and it has become more zombified each decade since, leading to a lot of today's tripe. 3. I believe digital art has spoiled animators. Back in the hand drawn days, more attention had to be paid to each individual frame as they were physical, hand-colored sheets which had to inserted into machines. I believe tangible work is usually handled with better care. 4. I believe cinematography was also taken more seriously in the older days of intelligent animators.
because they didn't know that there was a bass-line standard the audience had which they could exploit. most series are like that now. they take no risks and their lackluster stories reflect that
RIP Miura. You created an amazing story that has left a lasting legacy on artists throughout the world while telling a story that was disturbing, tragic but also moving.
This is what the new anime lacks 1: The pacing here is slow and calm and makes you breath in every frame 2: The music, I mean cmon I don't have to explain Guts' theme 3:The dialogue has meaning and isn't rushed out and both characters compliment each other with every line 4: The coloring is much better along with lighting cuz it ain't poor 3D, CG in anime can be good if the fps is consistent and color pallets blend
I totally agree for the most part. Though I think the HAI YO theme for Guts in the new series is rather epic. They do a good job at making him badass, but that's about it. They gloss over him as a character and focus more on his new companions, which they fail to make interesting enough to care about, in my opinion. They really need to slow down and make you actually care about the other characters more, and give Guts a little more depth instead of making him seem like a one dimensional slaughter machine. Animation aside, I do enjoy the new series, but it really is a weak sequel compared to this. It has all the awesome action, but it's missing everything else.
"So long as I have my sword to fight with, I'm sure to survive. Year after year, I've proven it to be true. Before joining the Hawks, I've always survived, no matter the odds, no matter how hopeless a losing battle. This time was no different. In truth, I don't believe that's any way to live one's life. I've been fighting in battles for as long as I can remember. The mercenary leader who raised me taught me nothing except how to wield a sword. I've never had anything, except my sword. I don't want to die; for me that is the only reason for me I keep fighting. There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to. I fight because I know nothing else. Once I was willing, to do just that, to commit myself to fighting, and let anyone else find a reason for me." He's basically confessing the pure core of his soul. The incarnation of human determination.
"There is nothing to save myself or to give myself to" Its sad that this can be the perspective of many people in life... Personally, Jesus is my salvation and he's the one i gave myself to, even if i often fail in this regard, i know in my heart that he died for me and not just for me but for you too
@@tonymontana-vw8pz He's basically saying, compared to the others within the band of the hawk, he has no purpose or goal in life. Guts has no one to care for or to settle down with. Fighting has been the only consistent thing in his life and has kept him alive up to that point, proven by the 100 man battle. However, simply fighting isn't seen as a worthy purpose or goal in Guts' eyes, as he says and he yearns for something more.
"You smooth-talker, you sound like a princess" Now this scene, compared to chapter 349, shows Guts has a reason to fight for other than to live. Miura you genius.
It's just the voices. Not the characters. I know for a fact that, there is only one character who is capable of matching Guts as a character. And that character is a fuck mothering vampire.

You really need these quiet introspective moments for the characters to show their backstory and development (or lack thereof). Movies tend to cut scenes like this out to keep the action going.
This right here is when I really got into Guts, I liked him more as the anime went on getting better after each episode, there are barely any other characters which got as much depth as him.
loyalswordsman he does have development (though he pretty much remains a pussy throughout the whole series), but the show really dives into why he is the way he is in the most mindfucking way possible. In fact, there's an entire episode that takes place in his subconscious. Eva is a series that you'll either hate or love
So many people in Final Fantasy XIV paying tribute to Miura by holding a vigil as Dark Knights, a job specially mentioned was inspired by Guts. Everyone standing in line with a campfire in front of them in Ul'Dah, I couldn't help but think of this scene, and me without a light of my own. Then someone noticed I needed one gave me a campfire. Even now, we gather around the strongest fire, the immortal flame of Kentaro Miura.

Of all the scenes to not put in the Golden Age movies, they just had to leave out this one, the scene which Casca gains massive respect and trust in Guts and begins to see him as something more than a sword wielding maniac, leading into her eventual romantic feelings to him.
Bc Miura wants you to read the manga, i can only guess that bc not a single anime has done Berserk faithfully to the manga. This one moment in particular, when i didn't see it in the movie, i knew that movie was a very crappy adaptation.

This series NEEDS a proper anime adaptation from square one. No skipping arcs. No skipping scenes like this one. A proper story from the start of the Black Swordsman Arc through the Flashback of the Golden Age Arc to end where they left off in the manga. With a team of animators that can handle the arts style and not censor anything. Netflix...get on this! This is basically money in your pockets!

@@ColossalSwordFormAndTechnique I guess...Just finished Season 3 of Castlevania and without spoiling too much, the rape scenes with slavery implied and the gore fight scenes made me think that he would do good. I just said Netflix because it feels like they do anything at this point and would be willing to take a risk on it. I've outright given up on a Japanese Studio doing it due to not doing one already. They tried it with the CGI one and people hated it so much that it got canceled. The OG anime, while good, cut some stuff out. The movies, while good, cut stuff out. They just keep cutting stuff out. At least the Castlevania creator shows respect to Berserk and Miura and unless Netflix interferes, I think he can do it justice. That's my only reason for suggesting Netflix. That's why it's so interesting. He's the same guy but yet he's not. Casca went mental and Guts pretty much went insane, but he still had some of his wits. Such a interesting character in development
theres a moment in the current chapters of the manga where he, seprico and the ship captain they meet on their journey share a drink. Its very reminiscent of this moment. They contemplate all theyve been through, and guts shares a few kind words.
Had to come back to this masterpiece after what happened. Rip Kentaro Miura, the story that you made and that we fell forever in love with will live on. Our lights will always be with you
Sonder is the realization that everybody around you, even strangers, are living a life just as complex as yours. Sometimes your hurting so bad and you feel your the only one. But after all your hardships you start to realize that everybody is so unique and you aren't the only one. Everybody lives are so indescribably different and there is no way you will ever understand their lives. To sum it up you are realizing that your not the only one living with such chaos and complexity. All people lives are unique, strange, chaotic, and complex, just like yours. Your not alone. I lay in bed so deep in my thoughts, the darkness was all around me while, slowly, the sonder started to kick in. I then realized that not only me, but all seven point fifty three billion people in this world which they are constantly living despite my personal lack of awareness of it.
Rest in peace, Kentaro Miura. The little light of idea you once had in your junior high and college years has turned into one of the biggest, brightest flames in the world. We are the passerbys who were simply walking by the flames you ignited and chose to warm ourselves up. But you and our meeting didn't end there. We each chose to take a bit of the bright flame you created and carried it close to our heart, nurtured it, all this time and will continue to do so. Now that you're not there to ignite the fire anymore, don't worry. The flames you once ignited are still burning just as bright, and everyone you inspired are coming back together to share from the fire they borrowed from you, but have managed to make it burn on their own since then. Your flames, our little flames, everything will make sure that these flames are never extinguished, and any future passer-by walking through the cold, snowy path that is their life, while walking past it will be able to warm themselves as well as borrow a bit of fire to accompany them in their own journey. Thank you Miura.
This is my favorite part of the OG show. For a guy who feels as if he's just stopping at the fire in passing, he sure knows the motivations and feelings of his fellow mercenaries.
this speech is the thing that honestly motivated me to change my entire life I went from around 12 years ago hearing this living in a shitty run down one bedroom flat to getting a degree and moving from England to China to start my dream job and I'm now living a life better then I ever thought was possible for me all sparked by this simple speech edit* more like 15 years ago time flys don't let it slip through your fingers
This speech may as well have saved my life. Not in the literal, physical sense. Rather a... "spiritual" one. I would have given up so, so many times, if it wasn't for this story, this speech at the perfect moment in time, that for whatever reason was able to strike so deeply, so intensely at my core, that it transformed my despair and self pity into burning determination. A determination that has done so many wonderful things for my life during all those past years... Berserk simply is more than a story. It's a philosophical journey.
Honestly. This is my second time watching the scene, and because of stuff happening in my life, it really pushes me forward to actually, well, live I suppose.
The song literally called “guts theme” is so good. The sound track for the 1997 anime was made by Miura’s favorite artist. Since then miura would often write chapters of beserk while listening to the guts theme
This truly made Guts one of my favorite character in all of fiction. And Griffiths speech about goals, and who he values as a friend tilted my view of the world and how i approach it. "like a bonfire... of dreams".

Legitimate Commentator Not true. Guts talked to Puck in the jail cell before fighting the Snake Baron. Guts was troubled over Vargas getting caught and how Guts was similar to Vargas, which really troubled Guts because Vardas is so weak, so pitiful. Guts talked to the Count's daughter, who vows for revenge and says that she hates Guts, and then Guts begins to cry. Too bad Berserk 2016 skipped all of that.
We all see ourselves in Guts. we all the carrying the burden of our struggles and keep going on to achieve our dreams. Miura san is the biggest flame in the bonfire of dreams. Thank you for changing our lives. Rest in Peace.
A Random person Death Note has an incredible dub in my opinion. 95% of the time I prefer sub over dub just because the voices are often overdone or badly done, but DN portrays the characters so well. I far prefer the dub of Ryuk, and Light and L probably too, slightly.
“There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to. I fight because I know nothing else.” Struggle, endure, survive, persevere Keep fighting everyone Never give up
"I don't want to die. For me that is the only reason I keep fighting. There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to. I fight because I know nothing else." I bet many of us can relate to this quote, we might not be battling 100 men with a sword for our lives but we struggle to live every single day in this cruel world, I'm not talking about those 12 year olds who say their life is trash because they got no friends at school, I mean people who really struggle in life. People who have nowhere to go back home to, nothing waits for them, not family, not friends or loved ones, no one. We fight because we know nothing else, because we don't want to die, we just want the pain to stop.
Agree but struggle for every person on this planet is different. Suffering isn't a competition. There is no smaller suffering or bigger suffering. Either it's a 12yr old crying because they have no friends, or a grown man wandering hopelessly wondering why he continues to live. You cannot expect a 12yr old to understand the pain but you can understand their pain. Like I said, it's not a competition. There is no suffering scale in life.
Guts started do reluctant and ended up caring so much for them, learning about their hopes and dreams. I've never felt this way about a character, never did I want someone to just stop and enjoy his life, I want a happy ending for him more than I want one for myself.
Rest in Peace Miura. Gone but NEVER going to be forgotten. This scene I watch sometimes just to reevaluate my place in the world and it grounds me. This torn damaged man, who does this act of true genuine herculean heroism and he doesn't even find any value in his actions.
It's funny, isn't it? The man with the greatest ambition finds condolence in the man with none to speak of.
yeah

There's something really truly beautiful about this series that's absolutely indescribable.

4: The coloring is much better along with lighting cuz it ain't poor 3D, CG in anime can be good if the fps is consistent and color pallets blend
I totally agree for the most part. Though I think the HAI YO theme for Guts in the new series is rather epic. They do a good job at making him badass, but that's about it. @@rumptump8629 You mean archetypes?
@@edwardgaines6561 I like it more in comparison to Griffith. Griffith is a narcissist who literally thinks his followers exist to actualize his dream, rather than use him as vessel to achieve their own.
"I fight because I know nothing else."
That quote actually hits harder once you think about it.
Thank you for everything that you have done for us, Miura. May you rest in peace.
This becomes so iconic after the death of the legend. RIP, sir. Your legacy shall live on forever. The bonfire of your life will always light our ways and thousands of people living in the dark shall find peace and comfort by its warmth.
"I have no reason for fighting"

Guts is a BAMF. Has more heart and soul than most anime characters.
more like
a DILF

#Daddee
The voice actor of guts never ceases to impress me, he is guts. You can’t tell me otherwise. You can feel the soul behind it.
Marc Diraison was also 4Kids Zoro and Ging Freecss!
I admire how patient this scene is. Surprisingly so.
Beautiful cut-off point, actually had me laugh out loud.
"Almost the entire time I've been alive, this was next to me as a part of my body. When I lost Gambino, when I met Griffith and the Band of the Hawk, and when I parted with them...Zod the Immortal, suffering I should've never been able to bear, and moments I could sense death, I came through all of it with this. Unforgettable things, unforgettable people, and all of it by the tip of the sword."
-Guts
I like to watch this clip when I'm feeling a little down and overwhelmed. Always makes feel more hopeful when I'm stressed out. Guts maybe fictional but he's still my hero at heart.
Our hero*
"It takes the greatest strength, to willingly show weakness."
Someone should make a website where we can all throw a little flame into a fire and as everyone adds their own little flame the fire grows and we can see how massive the berserk following is or something like that
And everyone puts a positive farewell post
Yes yes yes!!
Yes please!
Thank you very much Guts. During all these years I have been putting up with every wall that life puts in front of me. I sincerely appreciate who you are as a character, I thank your creator, and I thank everyone who helped on my path to meeting you.
This is why Berserk is my favorite anime/manga
Guts tragedy is that he didn't knew he belonged with Hawks until it was too late, and when he finally did realize was too to save Hawks and all those little dreams of Hawks disappeared to fuel Griffiths.
He didn’t like being in the hawks. They forced him in and didn’t let him leave.
@@lucasvanleeuwen4130 Yes but by the time he figured out that that's where he wanted to be it was too late to save everyone sadly
Berserk episode 23 about 10 minutes in, guts is reunited with the hawks Gaston and the other raiders approach guts and ask him if he leaves again that he takes them with him, it’s cuts to a far shot guts realising his dream, “ perhaps this is what I’ve been looking for my entire life, I didn’t realise it back then but everything i wanted then is right before me now, why don’t I ever realise what I have until it’s lost me” one of the most underrated scenes in this anime
@@lucasvanleeuwen4130 That's not entirely true. Yes, he _was_ told by Griffith he couldn't leave...... But why didn't he? He's not a man of honor, as shown by his duel with Griffith, so why did he keep his word when he had no real reason to? If he really wanted to, Guts could've snuck out and ran away the very night after his duel.
But he didn't. He stayed.
@@lucasvanleeuwen4130 he liked being in hawks but he feels that he don't belong there. And the BOTH is so active at that time and Guts likes being constantly in war and this video is the reason why he's like that/the way he is. He just thought of leaving the hawks after hearing Griffith's speech to the princess. And 2 months have passed since they conquered/captured doldrey, Guts' finally decided to leave.
We are all here for the same reason today. Rest in peace Miura
This whole time he talking im thinkin damn my nigga swole af
over here most diesel guy out there
And I'm thinking you gay af
This series NEEDS a proper anime adaptation from square one.
No skipping arcs. No skipping scenes like this one. A proper story from the start of the Black Swordsman Arc through the Flashback of the Golden Age Arc to end where they left off in the manga. With a team of animators that can handle the arts style and not censor anything.
Netflix...get on this! This is basically money in your pockets!
I do NOT want Netflix to touch Berserk.
Why? If it was the guy that makes Castlevania, I think it could be good. If it's a live action adaptation.....I would think the Eclipse happened and I'm ready to pay for my sins.
Woke culture everywhere in Netflix. They would rekt berserk
Now if it was anyone else besides the creator of Castlevania, I'd wanted canceled immediately. I would even suggest Crunchyroll too since they've sponsored Webtoon animes as well. Just my two cents.
@@ColossalSwordFormAndTechnique
What would “some culture” do to berserk though. Nothing about the story glorifies rape, racisim or bigotry. The show isn’t just edgy for the sake of it
Here after the passing of Muira. This scene cemented my love for berserk.. RIP
Simply brilliant work by Kentaro Miura.
I always get chills down my spine when i hear/read Guts talking like that.
Just after the Eclipse we rarely get to see him like that, peacefully philosophizing into the night. But after that ...event i don´t know if he would be able to.
They contemplate all theyve been through, and guts shares a few kind words.
micah ables - It's nice to know Guts can still find some bit of comfort in his current life.
Recent chapter are starting to get back to that
Him being constantly apprehended by demons waned on his mental state a little but he still shows little moments like these later on.
Best anime ever.
Most amazing anime character - Guts.
xPrincessGarnetXVI i agree
Griffith, Judeau and others also amazing.
Because the source material is even better.
RIP Muira. You will be missed. Thank you for your stories.
And now, Miura’s raging bonfire of dream is reignited. Everything will be alright.
My lord the voice acting gave so much justice to this moment too. FUCKING INCREDIBLE.
"I don't want to die , for me that's the only reason I keep fighting."
This speech is still resonant, all these years later... Thank you Miura-Sensei. RIP
favorite berserk 2016 quote - *CLANG!*
This arc is what elevates Berserk from a generic, violent dark fantasy to something more.
**standing ovation**
You, my good Sir, win the Internet.
May your fire never go out.
Well said bro
This is my favorite part of the OG show. For a guy who feels as if he's just stopping at the fire in passing, he sure knows the motivations and feelings of his fellow mercenaries.
this speech is the thing that honestly motivated me to change my entire life I went from around 12 years ago hearing this living in a shitty run down one bedroom flat to getting a degree and moving from England to China to start my dream job and I'm now living a life better then I ever thought was possible for me all sparked by this simple speech
edit* more like 15 years ago time flys don't let it slip through your fingers
Hate how easily time can slip by.
From a budget anime...
"like a bonfire... of dreams".
I spend 12 - 13 hours working 1 hour in my car and the rest sleeping and I've been doing this for years I have so much money a car a house but in all those years working I've lost a sense of who I am the thing I used to do while I was a kid are all dead because I'm a slave to money..... I only do this to survive yet I feel very empty .... guts/reality
It's cool Bruh, u just gotta find activities that you love doing, swim, play basketball, fish, find your niche and u should find some peace
GIFS _ that’s very touching I think everybody is enslaved to money we are taught to work to survive to achieve things we want like cars, land , house clothes and food and even traveling but what happens when u complete those things what’s left .... nothing
That’s why I love guts
Everybody has felt like this one point in their life
Like why do we exist if we are shitting human beings
Humans are simple yet complex cuz even though we are fighting for surviving in this world but we are also trying to find our purpose in this world
HEY LIFE ISN'T LIKE THAT MAN THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE THAN THAT SO DON'T SAID THAT I BEVEN U HAVE A BETTER PROPLS IN LIFE I KNOW U DO YOU ARE NOT A SLAVE TO MONEY U ARE HUMAN WHO NEED FUN IN YOUR LIFE SO. U CAN BE HAPPY
Destiny Barnes STOP SHOUTING :(
GIFS _ You definitely need to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. It addressing your existentialistic issue in more realistic and pragmatic manner. But here a warning, it will also insult you for being superficial and pretentious about accepting materialism as the only fact about our reality and Earth. You will be pissed off, but I’m hoping you’ll something from it.
Thanks Miura, this history mean to me and you'll be remembered for doing one of the greatest mangas ever, farewell
Scenes like this that's what 2016 version lacked, not the the stupid 2d vs 3d fight.
Well this is meant to show what Guts is like before the eclipse.
Fleimas I agree but there wasn't any scenes like this after the eclipse nobody talks like this with one another anymore lol
Too bad Berserk 2016 skipped all of that.
dragonwarriorz1 I'm talking about the anime moron not the manga
How the fuck was I supposed to know? You said "after the eclipse", not "anime only".
"Just for one moment i forgot to kill him"
"And that's what galls me."
We all see ourselves in Guts. we all the carrying the burden of our struggles and keep going on to achieve our dreams. Miura san is the biggest flame in the bonfire of dreams. Thank you for changing our lives. Rest in Peace.
that ending cut is hilarious
Man, this dub is amazing
sirkokrisz yup its a shame that i havent see anyone near this great since. and what this anime was made pre 2000?
A Random person Anime is 1997. Dub is 2002.
sirkokrisz the movies lack this.
A Random person Death Note has an incredible dub in my opinion. 95% of the time I prefer sub over dub just because the voices are often overdone or badly done, but DN portrays the characters so well. I far prefer the dub of Ryuk, and Light and L probably too, slightly.
Overdone and badly done my ass.
“There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to. I fight because I know nothing else.”
Struggle, endure, survive, persevere
Keep fighting everyone
Never give up
"So am i" great way to end the video lol
Rest in Peace, Kentaro Miura. Your work will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace Kentaro Miura. I’ll remember your work for as long as I breathe.
Why the hell did this not continue past the eclipse?
Well it basically wants to get you into the manga. Did its job fairly well no? haha
Joseph01337
Absolutely.. but it made me want more anime, too.
I hope they get the same voice actor for Guts when the new anime comes out, I'll freak the fudge out if they do

"I don't want to die. For me that is the only reason I keep fighting. There is nothing to save myself for or give myself to. I fight because I know nothing else."
I bet many of us can relate to this quote, we might not be battling 100 men with a sword for our lives but we struggle to live every single day in this cruel world, I'm not talking about those 12 year olds who say their life is trash because they got no friends at school, I mean people who really struggle in life.
@@unhandydaddy5117 Exactly! Suffering isn't a measuring contest. Suffering itself isn't bad if it ensures growth, we just don't want too much of that
@@applesandgrapesfordinner4626 I’m still waiting for my suffering to end so that I can grow 🙃
@@Lifelsfullofsurprises Keep your head up dude
@@Lifelsfullofsurprises i guess that's the thing, growth comes before the suffering ends and it's usually something you choose to do
And to ensure that those weaker flames don't go out each man casts his own into the strongest fire of them all, a raging fire, that was Kentaro Miura.
this scene hits way differently now
When Gaston died, he became Goku xD
When we die, we all become Goku.
Well, Gaston's English VA was Sean Schimmels, aka Goku's VA. I actually don't want to become Goku
Kenji Asakura When we die, we all become Sean Schimmel.
There you go, much better
Only in the films. In this series, he voices one of the guys with the snake baron in the first episode.
Can't wait to look at this when I'm 40 and still feel the same emotions from this scene
Guts started do reluctant and ended up caring so much for them, learning about their hopes and dreams. I've never felt this way about a character, never did I want someone to just stop and enjoy his life, I want a happy ending for him more than I want one for myself.
This and Griffith's speech are what separates Berserk from other manga/anime
Rest in peace master Miura, thank your for everything!
Rest in Peace Miura. Gone but NEVER going to be forgotten.
This scene I watch sometimes just to reevaluate my place in the world and it grounds me. This torn damaged man, who does this act of true genuine herculean heroism and he doesn't even find any value in his actions. Hell he despises his own lifestyle and here he is questioning it after going so many years on autopilot now he's asking himself is there more to his own existence.
I've learned alot about myself from Guts and fictional character and im so happy I got the privilege to read the manga as far as it went to see his beautiful art and dialogue.
Incredible, you will be missed Miura! Truly genius.
