I mentioned this in a few other videos, but this theme has a progressive importance because whenever something significant happens to Guts (internally and / or externally), this theme happens to play. At first I was wondering, "WHY IN THE HELL DOES THIS THEME PLAY SO MUCH?!" but then at some point, this becomes a slightly chilling, haunting, yet comforting theme at times showing that Guts has gained enlightenment on some issue: needing to prove his strength to Griffith -- his tumultuous relationship with Casca, but once again needing to prove himself to her and the rest of the Hawks -- unsure of his purpose for so long (apart from just fighting), Guts understanding his purpose for serving Griffith (his friend) and furthering his goals -- Guts being crushed that serving Griffith only makes him a soldier and finding out that to truly become Griffith's friend, he has to find his own goals in life -- Guts explaining to Casca that everyone has their own goals but him and that he has to leave the Hawks to find his...it's just a theme of progressive wisdom and inner strength that shows Guts' progression from a man raised by Gambino to just be a cold mercenary on the battlefield to becoming more of a leader and friend of the Band of the Hawk. And ultimately, through this theme, Guts defeats Griffith and comes to find his place was always meant to be with the Hawks...only for after the final time that the theme plays that this revelation comes too late. This is a theme that has such passion, strength, emotion, and depth that truly adds to the anime hands down.
@@vishnuramesh171 Alright. But I wont spoil everything, its much better if you read/watch it. (Spoiler warning) What I said above has a double meaning. On one half from the character perspective, what follows after these scenes is something many anime & non-anime fans consider one of the most horrifying and heartbreaking moment in fictional history, called *The Eclipse.* Everything durring & after the Eclipse is painful. In an effort to restore his body and chances of having his own kingdom after over a year of torture, Griffith does the unthinkable. He sacrifices all his friends and soldier (including Guts & Casca) to ancient horrifying beings. All of them are given as a feast to countless demons and monsters. Watching many characters we came to love and care for were slaughtered and/or torn apart, broken physically and psychologically. Only Guts & Casca survive thanks to outside help, but they too are broken. Guts loses an arm and an eye, but Casca is psychogically broken, as she was [redacted]. She is left horribly traumatized, so much so, she loses her sanity and her mental state is reduced to that of a child. Guts is left with nothing again but his unbriddled hatred for Griffith, and swears revenge. (Mind you, all of this is only the first quarter of the current story). In terms of real life pain to fans & readers, watching all these characters suffer is bad enough. Before 2021, readers (like me) had to wait months or years and waiting through many hiatuses just to get a new chapter, due to the author carefully perfecting his story and art. The constant waiting and delays made many feel like the story would never come to an end. Many jokingly said the author would die before it would finish. That nightmare became a reality in 2021, when the manga's creator, Kentaro Miura, died from health problems. Leaving his story Berserk unfinished.
I remember watching the anime back in late 2020... I also remember consciously thinking about this theme as it played, with a lingering thought that it felt so familiar. Prior, I had never seen Berserk. Miura was still alive and so Berserk was yet to be revived by his passing, and this was also before the song became a big meme. Looking back at it, I think it sounded akin to some songs I heard on an old PC or PS2 game, but I'll never be certain. Anyone else get that feeling of familiarity while listening to it? Or is it a feeling of loss?
I got a feeling with the outpouring of support for this franchise, somebody might adapt it in full. You know and not totally wreck it post golden age lol. I got a feeling it could be done. Something Miura would be proud of.
The problem is that for all animu adaptations, the 1997, the OVAs, even the 2016-17, Miura consulted the creators. Unless it retains all of 1997 elements and doesn't change the story in any way, it has a chance of succeeding
@@one_step_sideways the whole Wyald section of the story is easily the most distasteful. Rape and bodily mutilation in all Berserky greatness on full display might be too much for animation studios to handle.
"No matter what, I _will_ have what I want" "One man's dream can hold dominion over the entire world" Looking back, those are both incredibly accurate and forboding statements

Never watched the anime but i knew of this theme from long time and I love it. And today I watched guts theme playing into the anime i realised its very much impactful and bittersweet. Leave a void in me

@@guts1788 Low budget is putting it mildly! Many still shots and recycled animations would've cheapened the anime, but the story & music saves it bjg-time!
i dont get ppl who say griffith didnt see guts as a friend. it's obvious from the first time they speak that griffith has a special love and respect for guts. guts is the only other person like himself - a prodigy who started from nothing.
I’m sure that’s what Griffith had seen in Guts and because of this he had built a sort of brotherhood with him. And thus he had forgot his dream.
It was an obsession
Not only that but have you ever thought that Griffith was actually basing his definition of a friend on Guts?
@@Replied_ByMeatr1der5 yes of course, it seems possible to me, but it's obviously meant to be ambiguous (maybe even ambiguous to Griffith)
My reading of the talk with the princess is that Grifith was lying to himself. He obviously sees Gutts as a friend and has a great respect for him but could not adimitt it because Grifith is so full of himself and thinks he is above every one.
Dub is sooo smoothly done

It's really sad to see Griffith's line of dialogue right before Casca's. She wants to dedicate herself entirely to Griffith, but Griffith could never be friends with or respect someone who depends on him to give meaning to their existence.
The Hawks themselves were completely griffith puppets even guts. It was a cult esque band. That's why guts and casca are the ones who survive, since both of them outgrew griffith dream and loved each other and wanted to move on from griffith

God, the last scene hits hard, my heart feels heavy
The calm before the the storm, you might say. Guts was clear in his mind about all his relationships before you-know-what.
*Guts finally realizing that he belonged with the Band of the Falcon hits in the feels.*
this soundtrack is so legendary and every time it takes me through a tornado of feelings, thinking about past experiences and knowing that the feeling i had at the time i will never feel again, but at the same time it makes me think about the unknown future ahead.

Summarizing Berserk never felt so painful. 😭
Knowing what happens immediately after makes it so much worse too
Can you tell what happens next? Please
@@vishnuramesh171 In terms of pain to both readers and the actual characters.
Immense.
You want spoilers for Berserk?
@@noirangel6416 yes mate.. : )
@@vishnuramesh171 Alright. But I wont spoil everything, its much better if you read/watch it.
(Spoiler warning)
What I said above has a double meaning.
Everytime this song plays my 3rd eye opens
Damn… the music really makes you feel the emotions 😢
“I watched your duel with Bazuzo. It was magnificent.”
Yes. Nothing more magnificent than spamming an overhead slash.
Notice how most of these scenes have Casca with Guts
I hope it would include Wyald and the Lost Children arc. Nobody wants to adapt those parts for some reason.
@@isaacfaith9369 "for some reason"😂😂😂
The problem is that for all animu adaptations, the 1997, the OVAs, even the 2016-17, Miura consulted the creators. Unless it retains all of 1997 elements and doesn't change the story in any way, it has a chance of succeeding
@@Cyeoable Why though? Only because of the adult attack?
@@one_step_sideways the whole Wyald section of the story is easily the most distasteful. Rape and bodily mutilation in all Berserky greatness on full display might be too much for animation studios to handle.
