So, the designer of the ''fake version'' is Aniomylone. He uploaded it to rebrickable in 2013. Sadly Chinese companies steal designs. This moc is an awesome display piece if built correctly with the instructions from Aniomylone. Ive built it myself from real lego and this video doesnt do justice for it. The venators were made 10 years apart so thats a thing to consider aswell.
Well I understand that. Its a good model and I know that lepin sets are not the ideal way to do this. There are a ton of negatives to the knock of version. Just though I would try to swade people from buying the non-lego version.
Great video! I’ve known about this moc UCS Venator for a while. As far as I know, the original designer is a guy named, “Anio,” and I’m not sure if he gave permission for a fake LEGO company to mass produce it. I had wondered what it would look like next to the official one for a while, and they’re a lot closer in size than I expected. The moc seemed so much bigger to me, probably because of how many studs are showing. This video definitely shows the difference between official LEGO and counterfeit LEGO (bootlego’s as I call them). I don’t know if this is true for the original moc with all-LEGO parts, but this bootlegged Lepin model has so many points which warp, leave gaps, and don’t seem to connect properly. Just seeing all of those parts next to the model, that fell off of it, is a clear indication of a bootleg set. Even though it’s cheaper than the real version, I would feel ripped off if I ever spent money for it. The LEGO model, while much more expensive, is of a far higher quality, and each part seems to fit together seamlessly. Even if you don’t have the money now, people should save up for the LEGO version if they want a giant Venator.
I can't recommend the Lepin set at all despite the cheaper price. It looks like garbage imo with all the wide gaps visible in the build as well as the exposed structural technic pieces in the wings and rear.
Thats Fair. I think the lepin set is good, but I know other creators have instructions that might be better. I know a few years ago I saw some was charging $10-15 Dollars for them and it might be a better build overall.
I can sorta can for the price factor , but know the it is fragile. I would look for a custom lego model from rebrickable before going to mould king. If you are willing to chance the 1-2 shipping time. Do it!
I bought the mould king Super star destroyer and I would recommend that build, only big problem I had was putting the large plates on it, but it’s pretty solid and a nice display piece.
I bought and built this thing the entire thing was relativetly easy to build besides the engines like u mentioned and attaching the bottom plates ended up just clueing the engines together after rebuilding them a bunch lol though they def should of given a larger technic rod for the big engines luckily i had some and that helped with the drooping they do under their own weight
I would only buy the lepin one if I could get it from the original moc builder. Stealing instructions without the original Creator's permission or compensation is illegal and wrong
My lepin was purchased about 5-7 years prior to actually building it. I bet the newer ones had better parts and was made better. I just wanted to build it for the video.
I build Lego and Mould king. Incomparable. Lego is perfectly better. I sometimes need super glue for mould king. I often receive slightly bent plates that have de facto difficulty attaching well. Mould kind is cheaper but too expensive for the quality offered. As well missing parts for Mould King and never for lego.
As someome that build the lego venator i cant agree with you. The build was verry boring and repetetive and only like 5 hours which is bad. And it also feels like a 6 year old could build it which again isnt good because its a 18+ set you would expect a challenge. And it feels like they only did what they have to. Take 1 pice away and it would fall appart (ofc it doesnt but thats how it feels like). Also 5:50 both arent imperial ships the lego bridge is red because its a command ship while the other one is just the normal variant if you would want to have a imperial ship you would need to switch out all the red parts with grey. Also lego sets arent easy to build xuz they are "user friendly" its because they cut every corner they can and the easy build is just a byproduct of that.
The same Internal structure and also in some part, the way that the panels are conected in the build would be dificcult to see in playsets, or even if the build isn’t something difficult at the end, the most important thing is the final result, wich is better in almost every way than the other build. And also, in What way LEGO cuts corners?
@@pretorianrangerno if i buy a lego set im buying it to build with lego if i just care for the final result i could also just buy a model that is 100% accurate and only a fraction of the price. And i can shure list the cutting corners lego did on this set alone: Ugly stickers because it would have been 12ct more expensive to print them It has no mass to it they saved on every brick that isnt nessecsry which gave the set a cheap and flimsy feeling while building. Declining brick quality in every set therefore in this set too. Colourfull interior to "make the build easyer" when in reallity its just makeing use of colours that are less expensive to use. Printed kama on rex instead of real one cuz one made out of cloth would have cost more. No opening hangar, im not even complaining about no interior because that would have made the set more expensive then it already is but at least the possibility of an opening hangar would have been cool (and verry possibile). And all that and the price of the model is still astronomicaly high 650€/$ for 5347 parts thats a price per pice of 12ct and a price per kg of 489€/$ which is one of the worst ones yet. And you cant tell me its because of inflation. Inflation in denmark isnt that high, legos prices are growing faster then inflation and that while their brick quality and the way they treat their customers gets worse and worse.
@@Karottenregen If someone wants to get the copy is alright, but doesn’t quit that the LEGO model looks better. @@pretorianranger1, the stickers are a big deal its a 650$ set there shouldnt be any cheap stickers with it. Cobi doesnt put stickers in cheap 30$ sets. 2, as a industrial salesman whos job it is to buy stuff for my company i can tell you, different coloured stones are cheaper or more expensive because of the dye beeing usen. Different dyes have different prices. Yes this might not make a big difference per brick but lego buys tons of dye and buying the cheaper dye does make a significant difference on a large scale. 3, yes it might look better but is this better look worth 450$ more? And if you only want a good luck and dont care about the building expirience you should just buy a model and not a set made out of bricks. And 4, yes this venator has alot of flaws exept for the kama you just dont realise because lego desensitized the fan base with sets way way worse. Just look at lego sets back then and look at them now. The overall quallity keeps declining and the price increasing this venator is a prime example.
I am only interested in Original Lego , but the Price of the new Venator ist too high. So i will skip it. I build the Playset Venator and i am fine with it.

I believe the lepin set is quite old, an apples to apples comparison would be the lego UCS Venator to the newly released "lepin" UCS Ventator

The most annoying part of the Lepin set is how bulky the side of the bridges look.
You can fold them in and it doesn't look that bad.
The most annoying part for me were the magnetes ...
