      Wow! thats Great. Yes, I get similar results after I change the BIOS like this. If you don't mind a little more heat when you do a render or something you can turn up the load-line calibrations to level 3 or 4 maybe. Start lower and go higher watching your temps if you do that tho. You can eek out a little more performance in cinebench and other rendering tools. The gain is pretty small and I don't bother with it but if you are going for scores...? Thanks for the feedback and good luck!

    Hello, I have an issue. I just got the Ryzen 5 5600x + GTX 3070 with an Asus Motherboard + Corsair h60 cooler. I got high Temperature Idle (42 to 46 degrees) / In-game (65 to 78 degree with low graphics). To fix it (found this on reddit and people said it worked) I have to change 2 settings in the bios but I can't find the equivalent name in "Asus" motherboard
    _Find "Core Voltage" (it can be also named Vcore) and change from "AUTO" to 1.2V.
    _Set your" CPU Clock Speed" from "AUTO" to 4.5GHz (BIOS can offer you some speeds which appear like 45,45.25 etc.)
    I can't find the "Core Voltage" (CPU I think ?) and "CPU Clock Speed". People are getting better result about temperature..
    Someone knows where I can find / change this variables ? I don't want to damage my PC by changing the wrong settings..

      yep its because the old CM hyper 212 uses the old copper sandwich design ( i mean its a mixture of copper & aluminum leaving some gap uncovered by copper) and ryzen die is designed different compare to intel + the small size of 7nm.
      This is the reason why most current cooler yep AIR coolers are all pure solid copper cold-plate instead of the traditional design.

      Hmm, Sorry to hear that. Every setup is a little different. What's your DRAM? Frequency and all that. Did the available voltage for the RAM also increase automatically in the BIOS? Also what's your PSU? Instability can be caused by a shortage of power when you are trying to open up the available current on each component. I have gotten that system instability message before but only when I tighten the timings on the RAM or when I'm messing with voltages.

    Appreciate your guidance, I was looking to set my mboard voltage (TUF BM-450 PLUS II) to a máximum peak of 1.36 V. Since on Ryzen Master shows that the EDC is running at 99% (90A, Limit 255A) when executing some games like warzone, is this normal? I´ve tried to solve this changing the windows energy mode but it doesn´t change at all when running games. PSDT: My temps are going low from 37°c on rest to 65° while playing or editing. Also I´ve found that the EDC at 99% its a normal behavior on Ryzen cpu´s. Thanks for the info anyways.

      Hey, you can increase the edc limit, i have the same motherboad, you should go to ai tweaker, precision boost overdrive and there are limits there. I have ryzen 5600 and my sweet spot is ppt 75 edc 105 and tdc 70. If i increase more, i get much more temperature than i get performance, so no point increasing. Cinebench r23 score 11000 and thermals about 60c. If you want more performance at the cost of heat, increase ppt limit to like 100 and edc to like 115.

    Hi, I have the same processor and motherboard. I would like to keep it stable at 4.3ghz and with a voltage below 1.35. it will be used for the server and will be connected for 24/7 with an average CPU usage of 70% daily. Can I follow your tutorial for what I want?

    • @capslockculture6223
      @capslockculture6223  4 роки тому

      Hi! I've only been able to hold a stable 4.3 frequency in the CPU using the Ryzen Master software. But I have gotten it to hold stable at 4.3ghz. Although given the additional heat caused by forcing the cores up to that frequency you might reach thermal throttling limits depending on what you are doing. Most of what I do in my tutorial is show you how to open up the headroom so the CPU is able to access the extra power if it wants it for any given task...like exporting video. With the negative offset to my CPU voltage it keeps the chip much cooler and runs just a little slower....which I'm fine with given that some of the benchmarks I ran with brought a lot closer to the 95C shutdown the CPU has built in. I did not modify the thermal limit in the BiOS. Good luck and if you remember let me know how it's going. I can do a tutorial on a 4.3 static frequency with this chip if it'd help but I would just use ryzen master software for that!

    • @capslockculture6223
      @capslockculture6223  4 роки тому

      I would keep an eye on your thermals under load. Getting to 4.3ghz would require the addition of voltage and current to the chip and RAM which will create heat. BUT! A colder chip can handle more current and voltage than a warm one! 'Gamers Nexus' has videos about this and so does Buildzoid on his channel 'actual hardcore overclocking'. A water cooling system may need necessary to hold the thermals down under load...or you may just thermal throttle away any gains you might have made from overclocking the chip. Sorry for the long explanations! :)

The video on this page is showing how to undervolt not overclock but overclocking on the X570 can be rough because of the VRMs (voltage regulation modules).

    What are the ppt/edc/tdc values for?

    • @capslockculture6223
      @capslockculture6223  4 роки тому

      Those are values for current (in amps). For instance TDC (thermal-design current) is the max amount of current the motherboard will allow the CPU to use. So if you want your CPU to draw more power to attain a higher frequency then these are good to raise some. These will increase your thermals too, of course, so when you raise these values to allow more overhead for your CPU you must keep on eye on the CPU temp. But on my rig I had more temperature difference from adjusting the load-line calibration than I did the current values from the PPT/EDC or TDC.

    • @capslockculture6223
      @capslockculture6223  4 роки тому

      Nice! Keep an eye on your temps because a high voltage will manifest itself as higher temperatures. But I've found the alterations in the PBO settings don't affect temperature that much. But I would say that my method of opening up the potential voltage/current that a chip can pull to accomplish a task is far safer and more efficient than just setting the voltage for your CPU at 1.4 or higher BUT I will say this...one of my cinebench runs I did set my CPU voltage to 1.4 and locked all the cores at 4.3Ghz. I posted a cinebench score of 5186 which is almost 300 above the method I use daily with unlocked cores. The temperature only reached 79C even with all cores locked to 4.3 and the CPU voltage put up to 1.4. So that's a safe setup as far as I can tell. However, I don't use that setup because its a huge waste of energy to have your MB juiced all the time. The negative offset gets you solid performance with VERY efficient energy use of the chip.

    • @capslockculture6223
      @capslockculture6223  4 роки тому

      I would add that since you are messing with timings that upping your load-line current can increase stability with memory clocking. Just try starting at a lower setting for the LLC before going up. Those settings are capable of increasing heat as well.

    • @capslockculture6223

      Hi Joseph, I just use Ryzen Master when I want to change (increase) the operating frequency of my CPU. In this video I just show you how to open up the power limits to allow these new ryzen gen 3 CPUs to draw the power they need/want when under load - which actually naturally rises their frequencies to accomplish workloads but in a more effecient manner than just clocking it at the highest frequency possible. For my method the trade is this : way better effiency (I estimate 25% or more for my setup) and lower core temps (about -10c lower in most benchmarks I run going more than 10 min) in exchange for a relatively small (6-10%) decrease in performance. But when I want that extra performance maxed out!?: I just use Ryzen Master and try not to think about it rather than methodically messing with the voltage and RAM timings.

    Capslock. Hi we have the same motherboard. But only 2 of the RAM slots are working (3rd and 4th). I know it's not the RAM modules because it posts when seated at those 2 slots, but when moved to slots 1 and 2, the LED post indicator stays orange and nothing happens on the monitor. I have already updated the BIOS to the latest release (8/17/2020) ver. 2607. I just want to know if there is something I can "tweak" to make this work before considering the possibility that the motherboard is faulty. I built this system in October of last year (2019).

      Hmm..if you have the ASUS X570 tuf gaming like mine the RAM slots should be A2 and B2. You might just want to take one RAM mod and slot it in A2 and see if it posts. Then add the other one to the B2 slot. Check yer manual also if you need to! It was chapter 1 section 5 of my manual that described installing the RAM for the X570. Even if the RAM is installed into two slots and your computer POSTS you would still want to have your RAM in the slots that will allow them to run in dual-channel which will speed up your computer. A2 and B2 will give you that. Then if you add to more modules use A1 and B1 I believe is the right order. Let me know how this works out and if you can even get into the BIOS on startup. If we can get to the BIOS we can figure it out! Good luck!

      @@capslockculture6223 I did just that. Populated A2 and B2, NO go.....then A1 and B1, still no go. Only works with B1 and B2 slots. Weird, really weird. Which means that I am not getting dual channel function. I have emailed Asus about this and I am waiting for their response. THanks for your attention though, I really appreciate it.

    • @capslockculture6223

      Most bizarre. I believe the X470 does have a measure for recognizing the DDR4 although I'm surprised it's not called AI overclock tuner on yours. If you can upload a screenshot of the advanced bios selections it would help. Otherwise ya gotta start with a BIOS update and flash your drive with the most current BIOS version if it's not on there already.

    cpu core voltage - 1.3v
    cpu soc voltage - 1.2v
    dram voltage - 1.35v which is standerd for clocking ram.
    cldo vddg voltage - 1.0v

      Don't worry, you aren't detracting from my video: it's about undervolting not overclocking. I'll put one out for overclocking that will include how to balance the voltages for a setup like mine but this video is about under-volting for efficiency. No doubt Jay could tune a setup exactly like mine very well. But I havent seen him do it and I like short videos that get to the point and don't ramble off-topic sometimes too.

    • @capslockculture6223
      @capslockculture6223  4 роки тому

      I just let the 'auto' feature in the ASUS bios set the fan speeds for me. I'm not overclocking really so I didn't feel the need to artificially elevate the fan speeds and I'm happy with the temperature and performance vs. fan noise trade-off. Although, when I do render a long video sometimes I will overclock the system to shorten the rendertime a little. But I let Ryzen master handle the overclock rather than noodle with it in the bios myself. :)

    you shouldnt have to do an offset, from my understanding, all you need do is find your FIT voltage and set that as your CPU Voltage, then set a CPU Load-line to keep it from fluctuating ua-cam.com/video/05gOLKjMU90/v-deo.html

    • @JasonTsimplis
      @JasonTsimplis 6 місяців тому

      That would not allow the CPU to downclock on idle... A fixed voltage is a waste of power and an increased heat even during idle.
      Offset + Less Vdroop LLC Profile is the best way to undervolt. That allows a global negative offset on the VID curve, while keeping things stable under load thanks to the less Vdroop from the LLC Profile.

    Easiest way to understand power your CPU but leave your GPU without anything complicated is to go under power options under processing state and change all the maximum to 50% as under games under load barely use like 20-30% of your CPU and just adjust it when you get any slow downs when normally using your PC my CPU temps went from 96 C to only 50 C and games run even better now as no thermal throttling and then can even overclock your GPU

    This help me a lot in setting a negative CPU offset for my ryzen 3600. Couldn't figure out which setting changed only that until I saw this vid.
    Now my CPU is running around 5 degrees Celsius cooler at full load with a negative offset of 0.05. Multi core performance is only down 12 points in cinebench R20 from 3610 to 3598 :)
    Might push it to minus 0.10. It did reduce my brother's ryzen 5800x r20 score by 400 points but I think it doesn't affect ryzen 3000 CPUs as much?
