That chicken / goat coop sounded a lot like capital hill 😂😂 Mike you are amazing to get up in that weather and care for all your animals u deserve all the blessings coming your way
It's so nice to see up and personal working on ranch . I grew up on farm so love seeing the relationship with the animal's . That was worth the work.🇨🇦
What a nice man…. Love the way you care for all your animals!!
Just came upon you in my UA-cam suggestions. Once upon a time I would have loved farming. Helped my sister do bail hay with their 7-10 cow farm back 32 years ago. Here in Michigan no snow yet thankfully.
Pretty sure you meant "bale" hay..usually to bail something is more like bailing water out of a boat to keep it afloat!
If you're bailing hay, its definitely too wet to store!
Bean knows how to have fun in the snow. "NO COW OR CALF WILL BE LEFT BEHIND" is a great policy. Glad you're seeing some moisture, although it's not exactly when you need it. God bless your family and your farm.
Looks like Bean is having a blast. I live in southwest part of the state and always got a kick of how much my dogs 🐕 would celebrate the first snow. Love your goats 🐐❤ They're just like dogs.
I was thinking the same thing when the goat put his front feet on Mike's leg to get a scratch on the "noggin"
Thanks Mike for taking the time to explain your responsibilities on the ranch. I really enjoy it. Good luck
OMG!!!! That's eleven inches alright and some good moisture" Happy Birthday, Bean. You guys take care of yourselves and dress warm-
I will never again complain about the Chicago weather
,where I’m at, after watching the excellent tour of your snowy farm.
Z⁰ee vvt
I love seeing the goats and hearing them talk to you!
I was watching the storm on your live cams, even at night. WOW!! The wind was really blowing the snow! I had been praying for quite a while that you all would get some rain, but I didn't count on snow. I was watching the live cam today of the cattle moving up to the gate next to the bridge you all drive over. One of the cows walked into a drift and you could tell it was shocked and wanted nothing to do with it. Poor things belly sunk into the drift and she was having a time trying to get her hooves up over the snow. She was finally able to get out of it. Amazing watching how the cattle merged together to form a big circle to help keep each other warm and block the wind, kind of like penguins. I hope Jeff and his wife are doing ok and keeping warm. Be careful out there!!
Happy birthday Bean! I really got a kick out of Bean's exuberance, the jumping and bouncing in the snow was a real treat, made me laugh! I'm sure you know this, but for those that may not, in the winter, we try to feed our cattle towards the afternoon, to get them to time there calf births later, in the warmer part of the day. Most of the time they will give birth around the feeding cycle, works pretty good for us. Another great video, thanks Mike for sharing, have a safe and wonderful week.
That was sure a major early storm! We are 88 degrees in south Texas & I would love to see some cooler ( colder ) temps!Stay safe & I sure enjoy your channel.❄️☃️❄️👍🏻
It got up to 90° in the Houston area today. It's hard to imagine a snow storm.
in the 70's here, I'd love to get into the 40s
@@ninaappelt9001 its hard for northern folks like me to imagine 90 this late in the year. im still trying to leave WA for the Gillette area. knowing my luck it'll be early january and -40.
@@_AndromedaGalaxy_ Just like the big freeze in February across all of Texas. I live 23 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. We don't have much winter to speak of usually.
Wow Mike you never get a break, feel for you man!
Bean has waaayyy tooo much energy. Happy Birthday Bean!
You probably get tired of hearing it or maybe don't hear it enough but thank God for our hard working farmers who put food on our tables, I'm born and raised in a city, I've visited my sister's in Colorado and even drove there from NJ where I unfortunately live, the vastness of the West is truly mind bottling, what some call fly over country people rarely if ever stop and think about the hard work that goes into everything we consume to keep us alive, I don't know how the early pioneers did it with horses and sheer man power, I know it probably doesn't mean much but thanks again for all you people do.
Those goats have the sweetest voices.....even when they sound like they're complaining.
Hi Mike. I am from Ireland. We rarely get snow but when we do its not very deep. We do get a lot of storms, frost and rain during the winter. My inlaws have a cattle farm and horse livery business but I have my own little croft with goats, chickens, veggie patch, dogs, cats, even a tortoise. I live in the countryside but its also quite near the coast where a lot of Game of Thrones is filmed and the burial place of St Patrick is only 10 miles from my home. Its my little piece of heaven. I loved watching your video. Stay safe and best wishes 🍀
That's one Heck of a "first snow" of the season!!! Looks like Erin was hard at work preparing for the change in temperature!!! I am happy to see y'all get some sort of precipitation! Hopefully the drought can exit with a "good riddance"!!!! Prayers for all, both animals and people to be safe and well through the storm! Best wishes from Kentucky!!!
Have you considered a round bale feeder? Not always the greatest things in the world, but they *do* have their place, they keep hay loss to a minimum, cows from trampling each otherand most of the hay, ensuring it does what its supposed to do, instead of just giving the cows a cozy/or place to sleep, and knowing where their grub will be *found*...😁😘
Be smart of those hunters to stop off and pick up a box of beef on their way out...don't go home empty handed..."honey since when do deer come already precut and packaged"?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAN. WOW, FROM ONE EXTREME TO ANOTHER. LOTS OF SNOW, AND IT LOOKS LIKE GOOD WET SNOW. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Where I live we would be home bound for days. 2" of snow is enough to close school. Due to hills and back country roads. So good to see all the animals are fine. Stay warm.
I SO enjoy watching videos about snow as it’s spring here and it’s already getting up to 32degrees Celsius! Once it hits December/January it could hit close to 40 degrees Celsius! The joys of living in a subtropical climate! God Bless and stay safe! Greetings from Australia.
We got a good foot in town here! Glad to see the ranch got some too! We need a good moisture year that's for sure, so does Idaho!
I hated feeding cattle in the snow. At least you are getting some long awaited moisture
Glad to see you're getting appreciable moisture. Hopefully that's a trend that will continue throughout Winter and Spring
I think the conversion is 10 inches of snow to one inch of rain or water So it is not a lot of moisture
I hope so too!
@@georgedavidson1221 two things to consider here.
One: The snowfall to liquid ratio conversion doesn't have a set standard. It can be 10 to 1.5 or 10 to .5 It can vary depending on several factors, including moisture content of snow. In which case, because of the higher moisture content this snow brought to the ranch. The actual liquid amount was closer to 2 to 3 inches with the 16 to 20 inches of snow in Gillette, is very appreciable.
Two: Even going off just the 10: to 1 ratio mentioned. Over one acre is still 27,000 gallons roughly. Times that by 7,000 acres the ranch encompasses and that's quite a bit of moisture saturating the soil top, especially how dry it is due to the drought. Though while this one storm won't end the drought. It will make a major improvement. And if more of these snows continue, Mike and Erin have a decent shot for their drought to end.
@@williamdunn2525 not to mention that snow melt has better chance of soaking into the ground that rain which is great but a lot of it just runs down hill into ponds.
Excellent points made that are true. This storm produced very wet snow, so a lot of water will be replaced in the ground. Need every drop they can get... snow doesn't always help with top soil growth cause it's winter, but it soaks in better then rain and refills aquifers. Just as important.
The family loved the many farm animals - especially one year old Beam. Thank you for your OWF video. Your friends from California. Blessing and Happy Holidays!
Wyoming boy in South Carolina sends greetings. I was home two weeks ago. Sorry I missed the storm!
Absolutely amazing to see of what you do
ahhhh---thanks for the heads-up of things to come.... we had 1.5 - 2" of rain here (Omaha), and the wind, thank heavens you didn't share the cold :) i am SO GLAD you got it though, geez you all need the moisture. Goats are so fussy about getting wet/snowed on! puds. i don't think a lot of people realize just how bright and hard to see it is when there's snow out in the country-it's tough! that first storm is always the real reminder to tighten things up, and how rewarding caring for livestock is when the weather's bad--i've always loved going out in to it, getting everyone happy, then going inside when you're done....keep on keepin on :)
That storm missed us in Colorado. But we know another is coming to the ranch here! Take care and stay safe this winter. I think it doing to be a bad one again!
Well my goodness!!! That's a huge amount of snow for 1st snow! Stay warm wishes from Alberta. 😳😳🙋♀️🥰
The pup is having fun. So neat to see a young pup play! I always had to wipe the snow the first time off the chicken run because I guess they were scared of it. Then I go outside I threw straw out in the pen and they like that.
Looks like someone is having fun in the snow…lol That is crazy from last weeks 70 degree weather. Stay warm. Glad the cows are closer to home. ♥️ Happy bday Bean
I couldn't handle that weather anymore. 11 inches of snow in October wow. God bless you for your hard work .
I've been wondering if you got the snowstorm. KELO's been talking about it a lot. We were blessed with just 1/2" of rain and we got the wind. OH did we have wind. Take care, you guys.
Thank you for this excellent video, it must take an enormous effort when you have so much else to do. A reminder to us all not to leave winter preparations too late. Best wishes to you all from the UK.
Man I wish I had 1/4 of that winter weather down here in Miami. 90F 🥵all year long not fun. Thank you for keeping us so entertained. Good bless your family.
We got a nice snow the 12th here in Southwest Colorado. It's been spiting snow a bit every day scence. I enjoy your vlogs you and Erin and family have a great day stay warm .
This city slicker from Oregon really enjoyed tagging along with you today. Thanks for doing this, God bless!
Been watching the snow on webcams. Thank goodness for the moisture.
We will take it, thank you Pammie!
Your dog is having a fun snow party and happy birthday to Bean (your dog), great family and channel you will enjoy watching😊. Mike you are a hard care taker for those healthy animals , farm, and that lovely family of yours. You always keeping things on track. God Bless You All.
Somebody wake Jeff up.
Thank you Wykeisha
@@OurWyomingLife you are very welcome have a bless and safe night with your family. Prayers in the air everyone be safe from storms
OMG. At least you are getting some moisture for your bone dry soil. I live just outside of Toronto Ontario and our temperature was 72 degrees today.
Enjoy the 70's while it lasts! Winter is on the way!
Happy birthday Bean!! 🎂 I hope all the animals do well with the snow!!!!! ☃️. That is some first snow!!!!! Wow! But I know that you all need the moisture!!
Happy birthday bean ! Thank you for showing uses what you do on the ranch and explaining why you do all this . And your wife’s shop on all the veggies an crafts you sale . Thank you for all the video’s you produced they our awesome and your foreman he’s awesome.
Great enjoyed . . Retired farmer .... yes winter chores . Digging out sheep here in Scotland. Cows brought in . Horses rugged and stabled .
Happy birthday Bean hope you have a good day in the snow
Snow sure makes farm life more challenging, but boy oh boy it sure is beautiful. All the best to you and yours
i am from Cheyenne and yes the winter storms are no joke , you farmers are tough man
God Bless our American Ranchers and Farmers! Just came across your channel and it's just amazing to be able to get that close to real life duties to keep a massive place running. You've got a new subscriber now and I'm about to place a order for some of that jerky. Y'all stay safe out yonder
I can’t believe you have snow already! Here on the coast of Maine it’s in the 70’s. Love your videos. So informative!
Thank you!
Is Jeff hibernating. Yous stay warm and safe.
Happy Birthday Bean !!!! May your 1st birthday be awesome !!!!!
i left jackson hole back in 1980 for this reason. I hate cold weather and snow ! Lovin Georgia! stay safe mike
Glad I am in central Alabama. Been working in the garden for winter harvest.
I'll take that snow anytime compared to the 17 tornadoes we had access Oklahoma sense Sunday night..⛈️🌪️
It's good to see your getting moisture on the ranch even though it is snow. Seeing that I saw your temps are due to raise slowly the next few days the moisture will be able to be absorbed instead of run off. I love the snow shots. I miss this part of Wyoming. I remember them closing all the roads especially the interstate. I'd never seen that back east except in a very few extremely bad storms. Keep the snow shots coming please Mike. Those if us who are snow envy appreciate you. 💘 🇺🇸
Drive more west, and you can run into it. Here in Iowa, we are just getting cooler, no snow to speak of. Plenty of Corn being harvested, but I believe all the beans are out of the fields. Just seen this site for the first time. The snow attracted me, but very glad I'm not the one that has to shovel it. Ha! 10/16/2021
Hi Mike, we are from England (UK) and have been to Wyoming eight times now. We have friends in Cody and Worland and we are wondering where about your ranch is located.
We were born and bred on a farm here in the UK but nothing like the incredible ranch you guys work on.
So pleased we’ve found your channel, we will be watching every one of your vlogs from now on. We love snow but don’t get much here in the south of England. We have experienced your snow during October on one of our vacations, loved it !
Stay safe over there and have a great day ! Des and Shirley.
The black hat is out! Wow. That's a lot of snow so early. It's getting chilly here in London but nothing like you've got in Wyoming.
Yes it is! Thanks!
@@OurWyomingLife At least y'all are getting some kind of moisture its better than nothing since it has been so dry this summer.
Hello there , Were in Wyoming are you. I was station in Cheyenne at Francis E Warren Air Force Base back in 1966-67 It snowed every month of the year back then. You have a great channel. Thanks
Greetings from 76 rainy hill country weather. Your winter wonderland would be fun for awhile and reminds me of the days when I had horses and our snow only lasted for a couple of days
Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Happy Birthday Bean!!! Stay safe Mike!
Hope all went well through this latest snowstorm for you all. Up here in SW Montana, we got hammered! Ended up with 23" on the ground but 3-4 foot drifts in places. Had a horrible time trying to plow through to reach the cattle and get hay to them and paths cut into the ponds. We also spent time going to neighbors to plow them out because their pickup truck plows just couldnt get through this heavy wet snow. Lots of hard work to get through the worst of it but SO grateful for some moisture!
Happy belated birthday Bean. Hope Jeff is adapting to the weather. Stay safe.
So glad you got some much needed moisture. That same Colorado low is over us in Manitoba right now and we’ve gotten a nice dump of rain. Over and inch so far with no sign of stopping. Thank God for some moisture.
Is that winter enough for you Jeff?
Just kidding, but I will say it's a lot of snow and a early start. If it keeps up I hope that it will add a lot of moisture to the soil, so the next growing season will be more forgiving for the plants.
Happy Birthday Bean, what an awesome reaction she has to snow, playtime :)
Happy birthday Bean.it looks like Bean is having fun in the snow.I live in central Wisconsin it's getting very cold especially at night.had to have the furnace on now.
Yeah the storms been pretty wild we’re stuck in Sheridan Wyomi traveling through to Kansas
WOW....That much snow already. I'm a Southerner so just cant imagine. You handle it well and so do your animal's. Love seeing how much different ya'll live. ❤🙏
Wow ! I like watching snow but you guys really get socked with it . I've been living in Florida for 20 years now and forgot just how a snowstorm can mess normalcy up ,,,, I sincerely wish you guys the best of luck with the early snowfall and thanks for sharing this video with us all .
Thanks for watching Noble Roman
Happy Birthday Bean.. Mike I enjoy your videos.. I miss living on a ranch ... your family is amazing...
Thanks so much
Happy Birthday Bean
You have grown so much.
Good you got the moisture but I can’t imagine taking care of animals in those conditions. Good job
Mike, this 2nd generation SoCal native cannot comprehend all that snow. Other than a few trips to Yosemite in January, snow has not been on my radar. Some hailstorms, small less than marble size, and several trips up into the Angeles Crest Mtns. are about all I’ve seen in almost 8 decades. At this point in my life, I’m glad it’s you and not me. Stay safe and God bless.
Thanks for watching Diane R.
You beat us here in Southern Alberta! Just a few flurries up here. Great video! 👍😎🇨🇦🤠🐎
New subscriber here. Really like your channel and what you guys are about! Most of all Thank You Mike for your service to this great country!
I'm excited that you got quite a bit of snow. Maybe that will help you next year for hay if you get good snow all winter!
Hopefully, but sometimes with not enough moisture during spring through fall...even if we have heavy snowfall all winter it's not enough to catch up for a good growing year. But I'm sure they are like us just north of them in Montana...we just PRAY FOR RAIN and/or any other type of moister...to penetrate how deep that dry soil goes!!!
@@angelfromhellshawna Not even gonna lie, I'm a bit jealous of the snow and cold. We are still 87 today in TN.
@@myztery6719 WOW!! Our high today was 34° here in Eastern Montana...lol. And we got slightly less snow...
@@angelfromhellshawna lol. I'm still trying to talk my guys into moving up there lol.
Sunny and 91º today here in south florida. Been here 25 years. Best decision I ever made.
Birth to 19 years in northern Illinois. I did my time.
50 below windchill several times - blizzards - ice storms - and at least 6 months of grey overcast skies ( which is why I left )
91 degrees is horrid. I grew up in Florida and now live in Minnesota. I much prefer the cold and love the first snow storm of the season lol
You Illinois people dont know what cold is. Try Minnesota or North Dakota. -50 windchill? How about -50 with no wind in the sun xD
We got lots of rain this morning. 74 for a high. Thanks for sharing, stay safe out there. Iowa cares :)
Thanks, you too!
Glad you’re getting some moisture but that’s a lot of snow! Hoping we won’t get any for another month or so in the Chicagoland area! It did remind me that my daughter doesn’t have any snow pants that fit so I’m going to go out tomorrow and try to find some so we’ll be all set when it does snow! That was a noisy shed with the goats and geese! Need earplugs to go in there!!
Keep your head up stay warm!
Happy Birthday, Bean!! She looks great! Enjoy that snow and all the mud that will follow! Stay warm and safe!!!
Thank you! Will do!
You weren't kidding Mike 😲.
Happy birthday Bean, 🎉.
You mean you don't want holes in your Hat in a Snow Storm 😝.
I hope all goes well with the Animals tonight💖.
JO JO IN VT 💕😄
Wow, it’s already winter in Wyoming. Down here we’ve finally dropped below 80F. It’s cool enough for my dogs to tolerate morning walks - rest of the day they still need to stay in the AC.
Best channel ever!, so much information!
Dang, posted 13 seconds ago, I've never been this early to a video lol 😆 anyway, I don't envy your snow fall, I'll be happy for it to wait till December to snow here in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Mario!!! I'll send it your way
@@OurWyomingLife I'm a big fan of you and the channel, and I'd love to help in any way, but I think I'll pass on that snow! 😉 🤣🤣
Oops!
Wonderful Wyoming, gotta love it! 🤎💛🤎
I was so happy you are getting some much needed moisture. Your planning ahead for the animals was fwise
It really is beautiful.
Omg I loved watching Bean playing and jumping in the snow!! Happy birthday Bean
She sure does enjoy the snow!
I'm glad it's you that's getting that snow because I wouldn't be going anywhere. Stay safe Mike
I will try to Rebecca. Thanks for watching
We get those storms as well up in northern Ontario- fortunately for us we're in a warm spell up here - keep the videos coming
