  • Let's #TalkAboutSudan - Breaking down what happened to a camp for internally displaced people in Zalingei, Central Darfur: Back in October, this camp faced atrocities that are indescribable. Now, people have no access to water and basic necessities and there is no food distribution from aid organizations that can help alleviate the needs.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has re-established a presence in this camp to support the local hispoital and provide medical care. Like in many places in #Sudan, the people in Zalingei have no access to advanced health care, and there is no referral system in place. Our emergency teams have worked to rehabilitate the town's hospital-the only one providing advanced health care in the whole of Cntral Darfur. Our aim is to reopen the maternity, emergency, and pediatric departments, and the operating room.
MSF USA executive director, Avril Benoît, walks us through some of the challenges in Zalingei.
