This is my "goal" for my 14 boxwood bushes!! Thank you so much for the tip of the monks crown...this is the tip I've been missing all along!! My fingers are crossed that I will finally get it right! Loved your video (can't wait to see more)!
Hi Cindy 👋🏼 thank you for your lovely message 😊 very much appreciated happy you found the vlog useful & welcome to the channel 😀 I hope you will share with your gardening friends as it really helps the channel 👍🏼 good luck with your boxwoods & talk again soon thanks again & have a fabulous day 😊🌱 Chip
Mr Chippy the manor grounds look so clean and manicured. I'm sure "Lady Spud," appreciates all your talented hard work. Since watching your tips on clipping I'm now in the process of trimming all my rosemary and boxwood shrubs for more of a streamlined cleaner look. I even shaped the line of 15 yr old junipers that follow my stone walkway. They look like a bunch of poodles but actually more like large bonsai it's a very pleasing effect with the red colored mulch. Cheers from the high Mohave Desert.
Hi Kelly & thank you for your lovely message so sorry my reply is so late some messages don’t show up for some reason.. your topiary are sounding lovely especially the poodles lol just a shame you can’t put photos on the message here I would have loved to see them 🤠 sounds fabulous anyway, have a wonderful week & all the best 🌱 Chip

Thank you for the clear guide to Box topiary. I love the way you present the video. Definitely going to start on my small collection of as-yet untouched box plants of various sizes. Your courtyard is just how I'd like to set out my small space, particularly the mix of materials you've used. Do you have any video guides for planning a courtyard?
I love watching your videos! Your boxwood look soooo healthy and green! Do you fertilize them…with what and how often? I’m in the US…Pacific northwest. Happy for your new home and more videos!
Hi Suemiller & thank you for your message, I feed them with multi purpose slow release pellets twice a year & water regularly but that’s about it 👍🏼 have a lovely day 🌱 Chip
I like your old sharpen style, I do the same with you. LOL.. Maybe you think your plants look like someone hair, need to trim, trim...Monk Crown :):). called TRIM BALL DAY !! 😆😁❤️ Super funny to watch the video
Hello, I thought I was watching Edwardscissorhand. You make magic, what is that tool you're using? It looks interesting. Very nice. I could watch you all day clipping the topiaries. 😀
Thank you Elena very much appreciated 😊 & yes I do prefer to clip my topiary by hand as I feel it gives a much better finish 🌳✅ great minds think alike 👍🏼 🌱 Chip
Wow topiary is your calling! Nice work!! Ours grow so fast here that we have to trim at least four times a year and they never look tidy 😂. I also am not blessed with the patience to make them look this gorgeous.
Thank you Tricia & Hope the topiary went well 🤠 …. sorry for the late reply some messages don’t show up for some reason, Have a wonderful day , big hugs 🤗🌱 Chip
Hi Finelady & thank you for your lovely message 🤠 the clippers I’m using are old sheep shearing clippers 👍🏼 but you can get newer versions of them these days .. So many different types to choose from .. but be careful as some are really bad quality & totally useless .. let me know how you get on & have a wonderful day .. all the best 🌱 Chip
@@ChipsGreenWorld Thanks so much Chip for your reply back to me. I have been trimming my own bushes for years with hand scissors. I think it is time for me get something better LOL! Today I went to my local hardware store and bought the STIHL HSA 26 battery operated hand trimmers. It comes with 2 different blades to work with. I have it all charged up and ready to go! Just waiting for an overcast day when it is not too hot outside to try them out. I like to keep my round boxwoods neat and tidy and not oversized. I have two spirals that are 5 years old now and they are full of new green growth this season. Anxious to try my new toy out and see how I do! Thanks again!

I have very young wintergreen boxwoods that need help getting denser, with the goal of becoming spheres. Don't know if you're still answering messages, but could you give me 2 tips? Fertilizing for faster growth and clipping or trimming to make them dense when they are only 10-11 inches tall. Thank you for the video. It was inspirational to see you clip!
Hi DM & thank you for your lovely message 😁 to archive a denser bush clip twice a year & I feed mine twice a year with multipurpose slow release pellets 👍🏼 Good luck with your spheres & have a fabulous day 😊🌱 Chip
That was really fascinating to watch! The round shape was so perfect. Do you ever rotate the containers to balance their growth or exposure to sunlight? Also wouldn’t it be easier to spin the container as you trimmed each one or would that ruin the shape instead? Been wanting to grow boxwoods in containers but thy aren’t cold hardy enough for us here.
Thank You 😊 I should rotate but iv been a bit slack this year lol 😂 I did use to take them out to clip but now I find by leaving them in place I can make sure the gaps between are letting in enough light 👍🏼 thank again 😊👍🏼🌱 Chip 👋🏼
Hi Carol & thank you for your lovely message 🤠 the clippers am using in this vlog are very old & unfortunately have no brand name on them .. but I have replaced them recently with old seep sharing shears I got from a antiques shop.. however today you can get so many different types & brands .. so best to try some out before you purchasing , as a lot of them are very poor quality, hope this helps & have a fabulous day, all the best 🌱 Chip
Highly recommend Niwaki topiary clippers. For your own garden, highly recommend getting the long topiary hand clippers or the barracuda if you need to fine tune thicker branched topiary like Taxus.
This was super informative. It’s like getting coached by the Doctor of Snipping. How do you clean out all the trimmed bits from between the balls? And when you first purchased the plants, were they close to the same size, or did you have to trim/train them the first couple of years?
Hi Temara 👋🏼 thank you am happy you enjoyed this vlog 😊 I just shake them to get the bits to fall though & the balls are about 15 years old & were very small when I bought them 👍🏼 & the two my the door I rescued from a skip 10 years ago lol 😂 🌱 Chip
