@@projectpinehills Which tone generator is the best for Ethernet? I need to find if port in an office is hot and an exact cable it is among bunches in a server room next to it. Also, anymore data would be great like port it is attached to on a switch, etc.
If you press the power button on the grey probe, the tone generator not on, what sound will you hear from the probe? Should you hear a kind of white noise? The batteries may be low. Found a tossed out Pro 3000 kit complete. The batteries for both are the replaceable type? Thank you 🤓
Fuck I just ordered the one without filter, the other seems better and me in electrical i work a lot with wires crossing hot lines and the interference noise it's annoying, can't trace nothing after that
@@projectpinehills for real, the other day I was at the casino using a Tempo toner which is supposed to be top shet and it does detect wires buried around 5ft which is good but we we're tracing a circuit in the same raceway mixed with other live circuits on a 800ft run. Such a nightmare
Great video. The tone and probe is one of those tools that seems like it should be simple but has a lot of possible ways to use it wrong.
That’s right, it should be simple. It’s also a tool that when you need it, you need it. Thanks for the feedback and thank for watching! 👍
Thank you for the clear, concise overview
Thanks for watching !
Good demo and good product ... Thx ...
That was quick. Glad you liked it!
Fluke also offers a kit with a Bluetooth probe and a pair of Dr Dre Beats to really hear that noise for those who like unfiltered. It’s $250 more.
Good to know, I’ll check it out. Thanks for watching! 👍
Fluke engineer: for $0.05 we can include a high-pass filter to remove line noise
Fluke marketing: ooooh, this calls for a premium model
lol, 😂 thanks for watching! 👍
Can this be used on copper wires?
Yes. Thanks!
So basically you need both pieces correct. I found one thought it was for hvac or would tell you if a wire was hot
Yes need both pieces. It lets you trace a wire, not tell you if it's hot. Thanks for watching!
You are looking for a non contact voltage meter
@@jessihawkins9116 no i found one the telephone guys lost it think ima callem n return it if they dont want it im keepn the battery lol thanks

Yeah the probe picks up electrical noice, so yeah, it makes static noice regardless of the tone generator being on or not.
@@projectpinehills interesting! Thank you 🤓
shouldn't you be able to just touch the outside of the cable to get a tone, rather to touch the exact cable ?
You get a tone when you are close, the closer you are the stronger the tone. Thanks for watching!
The Fluke intellitone is a better unit.
It may be and it’s cost quite a bit more. Thanks for watching!
Fuck I just ordered the one without filter, the other seems better and me in electrical i work a lot with wires crossing hot lines and the interference noise it's annoying, can't trace nothing after that
I just cancelled and ordered the one with filter, you saved me lol
Glad to hear it! If you can filter out 60Hz electrical noise, it just makes sense. Not sure why Fluke offers both options. Thanks for commenting! 👍
