    I just purchased an iD4 for voiceover work. It’s beautifully made with clear sound and zero line noise, replacing an older iD22 that did great service for many years. Recommended 👍🏼

    Just started using the ID4 mk2 with a Lewitt LCT 440 Pure mic and it sounds so sweet. Pretty much no noise, around -39db in a real world test in adobe audition but noise is not very audible.
    Great preamp and super happy so far.

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  3 роки тому +11

      The iD4 MKII uses the same signal path as the MKI so It wouldn't be possible to adjust the headphone volume separately, this is available on the iD14 MKII however.

    I have had the Id4 MK2 for 6 months and am very impressed. I bought some DT990 pro headphones which run at 250ohms. They are a fair bit quieter than my 64 ohm previous headphones.
    Will a headphone amp improve sound quality? They go loud enough when I crank it but wondering if a preamp will make a difference.
    Thanks

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому +1

      It's difficult to say as sound quality is quite subjective. A headphone amp will give you more volume from the headphones but you might get a slightly different frequency response compared to the iD4's headphone output.

    If I'm playing audio through both Studio Speakers AND Headphones, how do i lower down the headphones volume only without affecting the main output ?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому +2

      On the iD4, the headphones and monitor outputs are driven from the same DAC so changes to the speaker level will also affect the headphones as well. If you do need independent headphone outputs then the iD14 may work better for your workflow.

    Hi there i have a simply question for you, since i use a desktop i don´t have USBc ports, i would like to buy the interface and as is written on the specs if i don´t use the USBc cable i don´t be able to use the max provided headphone amp, my question is if i use an USB 3.0 cable to USBc do i still get the amp max level for the headphones or not?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  3 роки тому +1

      The slightly higher headphone headroom is only available when using a USB-C connection as this will provide the additional current required. However, the headphone headroom when using USB3.0 will still be more than enough for most applications and headphones.

      Which software are you using the iD4 with where you're unable to use Mono audio?

    • @Vantavimeow
      @Vantavimeow 2 роки тому +1

      @@Audientworld Nvidia Geforce Experience, general desktop video recording applications. I think in OBS you have to enable stereo downmix to prevent it skewing audio the the left channel as well, it's just a really annoying QOL issue that wasn't present on the EVO.

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому

      Thank you for your reply. At the moment it is only possible to use the inputs and outputs as stereo pairs on the iD driver as having mono splits like on the EVO can cause problems with the higher channel counts found on the iD. This is something we are currently investigating however so we may be able to change this behaviour in future updates.

The interface itself was built like a brick and now sounds like a brick. And TASCAM no longer supports it. I'm very bitter about that.

      Cubasis is included with both the iD4 and the EVO 4. If you ever need to record stereo inputs, the EVO 4 may be the better choice as it includes two pre-amps rather than the one of the iD4. Otherwise, the iD4 has slightly higher specs and a metal chassis is you tend to take your interface with you on your travels.

      Unfortunately, we've not had a chance to test these headphones with the iD4. It will certainly drive them just fine in terms of volume and other headphones with low impedances have sounded good, but it is of course very subjective thing.

  • @satyambastia2905

    Hey there. Have a question regarding the headphone impedance. I have Audio Technica Ath m50x and Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X. Both of em has an impedance below 50ohm. I read in some forums that it changes the frequency response and might damage the drivers. Will such thing happen. Planning to buy the iD4 soon. Also is the Mkiii series coming anytime soon. If yes then would love to wait❤

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  4 місяці тому

      It certainly won't damage the headphone's drivers under normal use. The frequency response may be altered slightly but the impedance relationship between a headphone and the amp is fairly complex so some headphones will be affected more than others. We've used both the M50x's and DT990's with the iD4 and they've both sounded good and detailed!

    It is important to continuously monitor your mic level, and turning the balance knob each time I want to do that is far from practical.

      Yes, you can use both at the same time, however they are both affected by the same headphone volume so your DSLR will get the same level as your headphones which may not be ideal.
      Similarly, the speaker outputs are fed from the same amp so adjusting your speaker level will also affect the level being sent to your DSLR.
      If you need more control over your outputs then an interface with more outputs such as the EVO 8 or the iD14 MKII would be ideal.

If I use the outputs of this interface and run them into a headphone amp (Topping L30) do I have to worry about the impedance if I have headphones with lows ohms? I don't know if the impedance works the same way with the outputs, or is it just the headphone socket? Thanks in advance.

    If I'm only recording one thing at the time and only listening through it on my own (headphones or monitors) is it any reason to pick up the id14 instead or is it only a waste of money?
    Couldn't some features of the software mixer be beneficial also for the id4? Like see the input/output levels?
    Are all the input/output specifications exactly the same otherwise (same quality in recording and monitor/headphone output)?
    I thought so but for example the headphone specification differs and made me wonder.
    From Audient homepage:
    Headphone output - Frequence response:
    id4: ±0.1dB 10Hz to 40kHz
    id14: ±0.25dB 10Hz to 40kHz
    Even if the above is the case, I know it's not hearable but still wonder why there's a difference at all if they should be the same.

      If you're only recording a single input and just using headphones the iD4 is great!
      You can monitor the input and output of the iD4's LED meters using Monitor Mix control to adjust what the meters are showing.
      In real world use, the iD4 and the iD14 have the exact same sound and basically the same specs. I would choose based on the features you need rather than small differences in specs as both will give great sounding audio

    Just got mine today, but I'm disappointed that the headphone monitor function doesn't work at all with the headphones plugged into the Audient. My Mac is set to the Audient ID4 input/output, and although I can record to an application through the Audient, I can't hear myself at all. This would be even worse if I tried to use this for remote podcasting (I can't hear my guest, much less myself) and also would be terrible if I was trying to record a guitar into line input 2 because you can't hear what you're doing! Doesn't matter how loud I turn the monitors, it doesn't work. Too bad, the noise floor is pretty quiet. But I can only hear it if I plug headphones directly into the Mac, which sounds very reverby in my headphones while I'm recording, but sounds OK in playback after I stop recording. Is this normal and expected performance for your products -- why did you put a headphone jack on it if the headphones don't work?

      The iD4 isn't really designed for stereo inputs. You can connect the left channel to Mic/Line input o the rear and the right channel to the Instrument input on the front. You then need to make careful adjustments to the gains to match the levels of the two inputs, you will also have some tonal difference between the two inputs so this may not be ideal.

    Dear Audient, can id4 store the last volume adjustment after power is cut off (S4 deep shutdown PC, with power off to USB ports) or do I always have to adjust volume again? Sending PC to normal S3-shutdown is a solution, but there is 20W power consuption all time then. Work on more reliable drivers, especially focus on wake up after (deep states) standby. The device often loses its outputs after wakeup and PC reboot or pulling USB jack are the only solutions. For mkiii a power on/off switch and seperate Volume knob for headset output would be nice. A 2nd Micinput 3,5mm audio jack 4 pole is a must for PC headset with mic. Streamers would love it. Automatic Mic in Level calibration would be nice to. And more easy software for PC configuration, Loop-back mixer is to complicated. And a much better and finer level indicator. Price it 50% higher and then it´s an ideal tool for streamers too.

    • @Audientworld

      The only way you could record a stereo signal is to make use of both the Mic/Line and DI inputs at the same time which can cause some balance issues so we typically advice against stereo inputs on the iD4.
      If you connect the OP-1 to the iD4 using 1/4" jacks then it will be safe as the iD4 cannot feed phantom power to TRS jacks, only XLR cables.
