The scrap is distributed around the ring and traded for all of the base resources, which are stored and also transported via rail to the chem labs to make the chem lab resources. Some chem lab resources are transported via auto arm to other chem labs as well.
That explains why it looks so clean up there. Nicely done, that's awesome 🎉
