    How does this work?

    • @briannissley
      @briannissley 13 днів тому

      @@Hollownugget Astronium is auto-collected and brought to the surface, where it's traded for solid fuel jump jets, which are then shredded to produce scrap. The scrap is distributed around the ring and traded for all of the base resources, which are stored and also transported via rail to the chem labs to make the chem lab resources. Some chem lab resources are transported via auto arm to other chem labs as well.

    There's no need to set an auto arm and another platform to pick the product. If the product cansiter is placed along the same platform that the chemistry lab resides in AND the automation button is toggled in the chemistry lab's PDA, then it would automatically move the product to the resource canister and keep on crafting without the need of an another platform, auto arm, and a button. Reduces redundancy, saved on power and resources and space, and reduces time. Works with unloading resources, crafting anything in general (except backapck printer), harvesting gases, trading, etc. (When the automation button is toggled and the resource canisters are on the same platform with the machine intended for use)

    • @briannissley
      @briannissley Місяць тому

      @@cheez5748 Yes I am aware of this functionality, but I choose not to employ it in this case for a couple of reasons. First of all, a Large Silo A has the perfect number of slots for the six gas canisters and the two input canisters. There is no room for the output canister with this configuration. Second of all, it can be quite challenging to ensure that the output canister receives the intended resource, rather than receiving one of the input resources instead. With the configuration I am using in the video, this problem is solved by filtering the auto arm. Like I said, there are plenty of other ways to do it. If you feel like you have a suggestion that would accomplish the same thing in a better way, then it would be best to do a demonstration where you show it in action. I would be interested to see an actual implementation of a setup where you have all canisters, including the output canister, on the same platform, without running into problems like the output canister receiving the wrong resource.

    is this supposed to be a tutorial?

    • @briannissley
      @briannissley Місяць тому

      I suppose that depends on how much you already know about the game. A lot of people can figure it out for themselves once they see the general concept. Newer players may need more of a detailed step-by-step tutorial to make it work. I would consider this an advanced build, or at least a late game build, so newer players probably don't need to worry about it.

      @@briannissley yea. but you cant stop them from putting items into your backpack.

    • @briannissley
      @briannissley Місяць тому

      @@bajsapa3892 Well, when they are turned off, they do not put things into your backpack. Your backpack is just like any other storage in the game. If an auto arm is within range and turned on, it will attempt to place things into your backpack. So, it's true that you can't do anything about this behavior, but you can design things so you won't ever be in the auto arm output circle, or you can automate things in such a way that the auto arms are turned off when you don't need them on.

    • @bunker1213

      I use that auto arm feature to my advantage and have a "cube" of sensor arches that I can step into that places hydrazine into my backpack while I'm inside the cube. Easy to regulate if I want 1 or 2 hydrazine by how long I stand in the cube. Thinking of building one for feeding snail(s) after seeing this video.
